Good news: May will be better than 4 runs in 3+ innings.  The bullpen went 6 scoreless and is also getting reinforcements.

Bad news: Nothing was done to improve the offense, internally or externally.

Pratt for Hamilton was simply a case of simplicity--he replaces Hamilton both as a hitter & defensively (with Ortiz moving to 3B). I think a lot of teams tend to do this now with shorter benches as opposed to years ago. Don't shoot the messenger; Sanchez would've been a good choice there. But I knew before it was even announced that it would be Pratt.

I had no issue with Turang laying the ball down, but give yourself a better chance to beat it out of the box for a hit--a little less of a square-around. Or even try to drag it vs a relatively inexperienced 1B.

I have to believe that was Sproat’s last MLB start of the season (unless we have a starter get injured)

but if he can’t get his control intact, he probably doesn’t make the postseason roster.

i still think he has potential, but feels like a reliever rather than a starter to me.   He has the stuff, just not sure he has it upstairs

I think if he has a future here it's as a starter. But continuing to run him out there every 5-6 games doesn't appear to be necessary anymore, not to mention productive. So I'm hoping to see him starting in Nashville. Stallings might go as well, due to unavailability for a few days.

I’ll let Fischer do it at this point and not care if he strikes out 40% of the time. At least he won’t weakly roll out to the right side of the infield the other 60%.

It's a one run game in the 6th inning with two runners on. Making a simple PH move makes very little sense. There's a good chance that's your best shot at tying it up or getting the lead and you pinch hit a guy because he plays the same position as the guy he's replacing? I mean come on man.

The more I've seen Sproat, the more I think this is a reliever unless they completely remake his mechanics. I just don't see how he's ever going to stay consistent with command with such a long arm swing. It's August 3rd and the guy still can't hold his velo more than 60 pitches in a game.

Who knows how he matures/develops? Me, I don't see him as someone you want to bring in with men on base, or even to start an inning in a close game. Either role, there's definitely some growing up to do. Toward that end, Murphy spoke volumes when he replaced him in the middle of an AB.

If you're going to bring in Sanchez for Yelich in the 9th then it makes the decision to sac bunt in the 7th with Turang and not in the 9th even more confusing. You sac bunt Ortiz over and they probably intentionally walk Chourio to bring up Yelich and then Gary is there to hit with the go ahead run on base.

Comparing Chourio to another young OF in the division who has broken out. When I watch PCA hit this year he looks so relaxed in the box. The body looks loose. It looks like he isn't gripping the bat tight. When I watch Chourio he looks so tightly wound. Just doesn't seem like Chourio is taking advantage of his great athleticism in the box at this point.

RF-1B-DH he has four 'regulars', the three who filled those spots tonite plus Lara. Lara is the key to Yelich sitting more. Lara was getting a lot of run but is 1 for his last 12. I'm sure there's a process to his introduction to the bigs, and I'm certain it doesn't include "He has to play, because Yelich sucks!!!" And Yelich HAS sucked. I just hope Lara can catch fire & establish himself because when he's cookin' he fits really well with this offense. We'll see how it unfolds.

I have given them the benefit of the doubt with Yelich because it would be integral to their success to get him going, but if the division lead dwindles to below 5 and they are still testing him out 1-4 they are not serious about winning the division.

I was actually talking about Sanchez for Yelich in his previous AB (the 7th?)
