I think this is a defensible position to hold. It certainly confirms the preexisting notion of many fans. His regular season data is interestng Though, I would like to see him include xwOBA and not just wOBA into his analysis.

However, the postseason data is still a super small sample size. Is there a carry over effect? Very well could be but hard to say for certain under those circumstances when it could also chalked up to random variation and luck. I think the Brewers' position would be their bats are due to have a sustained hot streak during the postseason one of these years, and that combined with their typically strong pitching could be enough to win them a WS.

Increased power undoubtedly helps make up for that. Which may be why you're seeing a greater organizational emphasis such as the Andrew Fischer draft pick last year.

I agree that it’s a reasonable hypothesis but the sample of pitchers used is quite small (just 38 good and 38 bad). He doesn’t say what fraction of our total ABs are in his sample but it’s probably very small since we face 400+ pitchers per season.

A .270 wOBA against the top pitchers is also not terrible. It’s more that we absolutely destroy bad pitching while we are mediocre against very good pitching.

It's hard to argue facts. I wonder if the way they play is because of who they have or who they have is because that's the way they want to play. I think he's wrong that it's harder for the team to get hot due to their style. We've seen them get hot as a team often enough to know they can. We've also seen them tear apart top end pitchers with their approach. It's not like they never do it. Just gonna take a hot streak and a little luck. Like it always did.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
