20-year old LHP Joey Broughton is coming off a rough stretch (12 IP, 17 R (15 ER), 11 Ks over last 4 games), but can lead Low-A Wilson to a 3-1 series lead at Hill City. 18-year old CF Brailyn Antunez has a hit and an RBI in 9 consecutive games and has homered in 3 straight!

After letting one slip away yesterday, suddenly struggling RHP Manuel Rodriguez (10 IP, 10 R, 2 Ks in last 2 games) and AA Biloxi can even up their series at Columbus tonight. SS Jesus Made has an 18-game on-base streak.

20-year old RHP Josh Knoth tossed 6 scoreless innings with 7 Ks last week and can lead High-A Wisconsin to a 3-1 series lead in Beloit tonight. After DHing 13 times, SS Luis Pena is back in the defensive infield for the first time since July 18.

Juan Ortuno is still plugging away. Batting in premium spots in the batting order (3rd tonight). Getting on base. Splitting some gaps.

Fascinating player

Ortuno is probably one of the top 30 performing hitters from that signing class and, now that Angel Arredondo got talked about because he was traded, probably the most anonymous. Ton of top 5 prospects in their systems, a few top 10s, a couple Handelfry Encarnacion types, and then Ortuno.

RHP Brett Wichrowski had a nice but brief stint last time out (3 IP, 0 R, 3 Ks on 36 pitches) and now leads AAA Nashville as they seek to even their series at Memphis. 1B Brock Wilken has a 14-game on-base streak.

Watched Broughton’s start. He looked really good tonight. Good command. His one blemish was in the 2nd inning was a swing bunt single up the first base line, a dribbler into the hole between 2nd/1st, then a bloop single. One hard hit single then a DP and a line out. 1st a hit, but 3rd-5th innings 3 up 3 down

Good news I guess. No walk off against Biloxi 🙄. As it was just a normal 4-2 loss

T-Rats up big behind Pena and Dickinson and Tayden Hall

Nashville up 5-0. Wichrowski went 2 innings only - so keep an eye on that

Seppings in and so far 3,1 shutout innings.

I talked to a guy, who knows a guy that knows Tayden Hall.

That guy said that Tayden told him he was going to retire as a player after this season and turn his attention to coaching...

Not a single clue if this is true, that's how rumors start, but just sharing.

8 games remaining for each of DSL Brewers Gold and DSL Brewers Blue.

I’m assuming the 8 division winners and next best 8 records will make the playoffs as wild cards.

Gold presently lead their division by 2 games, while Blue are 1.5 games behind the last wild card.

Blue likely need to go 7-1 to grab a playoff spot, given the log-jam of teams ahead of them. Gold could probably go 4-4 and still qualify, but obviously expect to do even better.

Juan Ortuno (1.11 BB/K), the recently dealt Juan Martinez (1.30 BB/K), Luiyin Alastre (1.15 BB/K), Tyler Rodriguez (1.06 BB/K), Luis Lameda (0.88 BB/K) seem to be some of the stateside archetypes for what the Brewers are trying to develop on the Complex, especially among the lower dollar signings.

Patient hitters that can work counts, play all over the diamond, and run the bases.

Gotta figure that eventually one cracks through to MLB as a utility guy, but even if that never happens these are all great players to have in the system who help contribute to the winning happening throughout the minors despite running out the youngest teams at just about every level.
