Hard to imagine this not being Hamiltons' worst game as a Brewer. He's not going to get buried on the bench as I'm sure some would like, nor should he. But of course Ortiz deserves the majority of time at 3B; that's been the case for awhile. Things snowballed for Hamilton today to the point where in the 8th inning he failed twice to advance the tying runs and he's arguably the best bunter on the team. What he needs right now is to flush this one.

The bigger problem is the rotation behind the top two. Harrison had the opp to close up whatever pitch-tipping stuff was going on, but no improvement in the numbers so now it's a concern. Has he hit an innings wall? Maybe. There are other options, maybe not 6-shutout inning options but people you can combine, piggyback, etc. And I'm sure no one is in a mood for anything positive but it looked to me like May might've figured something out Saturday night before the rains came.

I see some b****ing about the trade acquisitions. No GM anywhere was going to think, before this deadline, that we had better options on our 40-man roster for semi-important innings than Romero or Senzatela. And Romero has been just fine before this weekend; let's let that play out. As for Senzatela---he's been around quite a long time & I've never seen him pitch this poorly away from Coors. Odd.

Cincy has been scoring & playing pretty well for about a week-and-a-half now. That contributed to this. We helped immensely, but they had a lot of good ABs.

Sorry Jim, I agree with a lot of what you say but the trades have been absolutely awful, across the board. It’s true to say that no GM would have taken our internal options over Romero and Senzatela for semi-important innings but you can’t just separate that fact from the cost-benefit analysis of the move or whether they move the final W/L needle in any meaningful way or help in the playoffs.

We sing the praises of the front office when they do something really good (like the Contreras trade), it’s fair to criticize when they make a bad move or moves.

Braves win.

Lead over the 3 seed now just 3 games (we are also very unlikely to get the tiebreaker versus the Braves), so we cannot afford to go into a slump.

Atlanta has 4 more against Philadelphia, 3 vs Tampa, 3 vs Cubs. Pretty difficult.

They are 9-3 against those teams this year, so maybe not as difficult as you think,

I wish it was three.    It’s 2.5.

This is the same as  when you were upset they traded Joey Wiemer.  As of right now they gave up some low minor league players who are at best a 50/50 shot to even see significant time in the majors.

They didn’t get anything great for Joey Wiemer, but his subsequent play wasn’t nothing either.

The Crew has the best record in baseball vs teams over .500. I would still rather play the Rockies. You would think 6-4 would be the best outcome for the Braves. Hopefully that happens.

Difficult not to be concerned about our young starting rotation, who appears to be completely gassed at this point (outside of Henderson). Hopefully they can find a second gear heading into the postseason. Our offense is typically not good enough to win these slugfest type games.

OK, that's fair. Are you saying we should've stood pat? If we did then I think there's every reason to believe this staff would be in much worse shape right now. If you're referring to the talent we gave up to STL, that's a fair point. And down the road we certainly might regret not having one or both of the OFs. But that's what it took to make that deal, I'm sure we didn't sweeten it just for fun.

I'd love to know what some of the other arms out there would've taken to acquire. But we don't, and some of these trades have proven that you can't just look at prospect rankings or computer-generated value to assume that because one team gave up so-and-so, we'd have gotten the guy If we had given up A, B, & C.

I think Senzatela (along with Patrick) in middle innings is going to be a huge key to all this. And if Senzatela isn't any better than he's shown---like I said, I don't recall ever seeing him look this bad outside of Coors---then yep, they'll be criticized, and fairly. But I for one didn't see any indication he was going to have these issues.

The Brewers have been a little better than a 0.500 team in Sept. since their 2018 record of 19-7. Guess that is a product of a successful playoff run. I wouldn’t expect anything different this season.

Definitely not a great September team,

I don’t hate Senzatela but they’ve clearly tried to change him and it hasn’t worked,

I didn’t hate that trade at the time. I cited that Manfredi has been excellent for the Rockies who we gave up to acquire him but I fully acknowledge as of right now it’s more likely flash in the pan than something big like that we missed out on,

May/Romero isn’t hindsight 20/20 and was pretty widely panned at the time here. We gave up two very decent prospects there. It wasn’t junk for junk like Montas/Weimer.

I could have lived with Ragsdale. The potential upside of Frias is too great to give up for guys who don’t move the needle at all.

I think the best move that Arnold made this deadline is the one that he didn’t make, if in fact it would have required Henderson for Skubal,

Nothing that we did in late July, IMO, has altered what our current record would be otherwise. You could make a better argument that it’s worse.

I don't disagree w/the 2nd point. Thing is, he's been coming in throwing hard stuff to the first hitter & almost w/o fail going 2-0, 3-0, 3-1. Maybe that shouldn't shrink his options down but it seems like it does. I've just never seen him consistently fall behind like this.

No excusing the trades. They've been worse than I think even their critics thought they'd be.

Every talking head out there said “holy overpay” when they saw the May trade and not a single thing has happened in the interim to suggest that they were wrong.

It almost feels like we’re acquiring arms with the thought process of “what can we get this guy to do well?” rather than just “what does this guy do well?”

Murphy said the Brewers will consider moving Harrison to the bullpen.

We went from calling this guy a 1/2 back in May/June to not even rotation worthy. Yikes.

I don’t understand the logic here. We’re years away from knowing if Jesus Made will ever be anything at this level. That’s certainly doesn’t make him expendable.

Question for those that are criticizing the trades...Would Ragsdale and Frias have helped THIS years team? Of course not. People here fall way to in love with prospects. That's all they are with a slim chance of ever playing in the big leagues. I have always been a "win now" guy, regardless of sport, so if it means trading the future to acquire some win now players, even if it doesn't end up working, it's still the right move. I'd rather they try and fail then not to try at all. I mean Micah Parsons got hurt last year but would anyone rather have the two 1st round picks back? I imagine there are some ppl that hated giving up that much 🤨, but it was a win now move, regardless of how it ever ends up working out, it was the right move 100%.

I get not liking what we gave up for the two STL pitchers. I flinched when I heard the cost, too. But again, if that's what it took & we said no, was there anything else in the hopper? And what would THAT have cost? Unfortunately we'll never know. If that was the only possibility, I think I would've done it reluctantly, but tried like hell (I suspect unsuccessfully) to replace Frias or at least get a 3rd piece (lotto ticket).

I'm pretty sure the rumors about needing to include Henderson for Skubal were true, and that was a non-starter.

None of the three pitchers have performed well up to this point, and IMO they've all underperformed what could be reasonably expected. If that continues then Arnold should take the heat.

Yikes - I turned the game on and off several times today.  I initially shut it off when it got to 4-0.  Harrison, what happened to him?!!!!    Checked score again after a while and noticed it was 6-6.  Turned it back on and promptly got to watch Senzatela (sp?) get lit up and turned it back off again.   And finally, a 3rd time I checked back to see it was 9-7 in the bottom of the 8th with 1 out and no one on. (MLB app).  Put the game back on and holy geez more gasoline poured on to a dumpster fire by Romero.   That was that.  Just seeing the final was 12-8.   So depressing and my apologies for continually bringing bad luck when the Crew was trying to get back into it.   At least the Cubs got beat good.
