Moreno (+14 DRS | +9 FRV) had a much better year by the numbers than William did (-1 DRS | -6 FRV).

Voting is 75% NL managers and coaches with the other 25% coming from some amalgamation of the various available metrics.

Contreras wasn't even close to a finalist. He graded out as a fringe Top 10 defensive catcher in the NL this year

It looks like most of the everyday catcher types graded out neutral or slightly negative defensively. Depending on how you run the math, only Joe Mack and Gabby Moreno were NL catchers who caught more than 90 games and had significantly better than average defensive grades
