I can't imagine any sports loss ever being that painful, EVER!

It'll be very largely irrelevant unless you're Australian, and a fan of particular teams, but I can think of three instances that scarred me big time. Two in the Australian Football League (one which took 21 years to redeem, the other is as raw as it was 8 years ago) and one in what is now called the NRL (rugby league), that only took 2 years to rectify.

I also know what it feels like to experience, as a fan of course, a team's first ever title. I'm hoping 2026 will be the second time, because the first was 45 years ago, and I'd like to savour that feeling one more time.

Forgot to mention Chourio, in each of his last two ABs, getting the runner to 3rd w/the first out of the inning. It looked like he was consciously trying to do that. Something he maybe doesn't focus on if it were April, or August. Great maturity.

Thankfully he has been productive when it has mattered. In the grand scheme, he is actually having a pretty rough postseason so far.

Not that many (for any team) are doing that well.

I was a little befuddled by that, but as long as Megill is fine, I don't care!

It worked!

I predicted it in the 8th given how short it was and knowing that you had 2 lefties (unless they were PH for) in the 9th (for that matter, I also expected Abner back out for Betts, then Ashby). I was not surprised when Ashby came back out. I agree if it had been closer then the decision would have been do you want Ashby to face Hernandez or Megill facing Muncy. Up by 3, I'm definitely ok with them PHing Muncy and leaving Ashby in.

Absolutely legendary stuff right there.

At the game we were just laughing about Freeman being in the little huddle with everyone else, like he was checking on Hamilton too and giving advice. That anecdote is even better than what I'd imagined.

Freeman, like a lot of guys on the Dodgers, seems like a good dude.

Interesting that Ortiz did not even come in as a defensive replacement in the 9th. I wonder why.

I understand that Ortiz has a very valuable glove but we can win games with Hamilton, too. Ortiz is 3 for 43 in the playoffs. 😬

Yeah I hate the Dodgers but hard to hate any of the players. They're all pretty likeable.

I graduated H.S. in 1982 and was in first semester of college that fall.

That series loss was so painful, I took up chain smoking for a week straight as some type of self-punishing coping mechanism.  I had never smoked before that time and have never smoked again since that one week.

Brewers, don't make me start again!  Lol

Good for you that you quit.  I quit cold turkey 30 years ago.   Don't start again even if the unthinkable happens.  😀

I agree but still hate the Cubs and STL more than all the others.

I think an underrated detail amidst all the thoughts about Ashby's usage is that DL Hall pitched to one hitter this series.

Hall isn't Ashby, but he can certainly play a leverage role over a couple of innings. The Brewers trust him a lot. He and Ashby have similar career trajectories and might be getting a lot of similar advice from the pitching folks. Would I be surprised if Hall becomes Ashby-lite in Game 3? Not even a little...

Yeah, Romero basically had one bad outing (0.2IP, 3R) against Cincinnati a while ago, otherwise he's been terrific as a situational lefty.

I’m with you on Hall. He’s been really really good. Hitting 98. The pen is unreal. If the starter can give 4-5 innings you gotta feel good.

Which is what you often see in the postseason due to the strong pitching you usually face. That's why I loved Chourios' approach in his last two ABs. Stuff like that can win games this time of year.

Mookie Betts did the same thing earlier in the game.

A big difference from years past where everyone was trying to play hero. Lots of K’s and lots of quick ABs. You just see a lot more good ABs when guys accept they aren’t Barry Bonds.

One of the real under-told stories, for sure. Hall worked 15.1 innings in September & allowed one run.

Looking back at some of the highlights of the 3rd inning, it’s wild how different that could have gone.

Yamamoto wanted to challenge the 3-2 pitch to Turang and pulled back. Seems postseason umps have been pretty lenient letting guys rethink their first reaction. Contreras got let off the hook once too. Unfortunately for Yamamoto he would have won the challenge. I’m shocked they didn’t, but I think they  just didn’t mind Turang on 1st to open up the double play.

Then in the Bauers long AB, the LF flat out should have caught that foul ball for the third out. I couldn’t believe how much the announcers downplayed that effort. I would have been livid had Chourio looked at a ball bounce in front of him like that.

Was at both games, pretty incredible atmosphere. The fans have been great, even during the tense moments. There weren't as many lulls in the crowd when we did something bad or were losing that I remember from other playoff games in the past since 2008.

Funny someone brought up 2018 game 2 NLCS yesterday when Jeffress gave up a big homer to Turner late and we ended up losing. During yesterdays game they had none other than "Brewers Legend" Jeremy Jeffress on the big video board telling the crowd to get fired up and I thought for sure it was going to jinx us late.

Glad we have been winning these Playoffs so far, but still we have yet to play to our full potential. Still too many errors and sloppy play. But still finding way to win and stay in the game and fight and that's what good teams do. Pretty awesome to witness and experience what a ride so far!

I watched the second half of the game at my son's baseball practice and my wife watched the last couple innings and sent me this picture with caption "Mullet walrus looks happy!"

Hall is back to the electric fastball that was considered the 2nd best in the minors the year he was acquired in that Corbin Burnes trade....#1 at the time was Mis.  It's not over triple digits, but really does seem to have alot of suddenness/life when he's comfortable in the high 90s.
