I knew what I was getting into with the parade but my God was it a mess. It'll be something I only look back on fondly but the logistics and the shuttles were awful. I'm glad the foundation got the shuttle money because no one checked the tickets and I'm pretty sure about half the people didn't buy tickets. If you had an 8am shuttle you were lucky to board by 930. Dreadful lines to get on, to get back, to get food at the grounds...it was rough.

I was trying to find crowd numbers. It sounds like when they were planning they planned for 250K, but actual attendance was closer to 400K

Vogelbach got that Chris Farley Tommy Boy vibe going.

Exactly what I thought too.

You think you can hurt me? I watch the Packers in January. You can't hurt me.

Sorry to hear that about the shuttle. We opted not to use them because we thought they would probably try using 94 and that would be a nightmare. According to 620, 94 was essentially a parking lot for a long time this morning. We drove in on Capitol and then down Humbolt to find parking. That worked pretty well.

The traffic into AmFam and out was actually quite good. No issues there. The bus ride itself was fine. It was the mass of people utilizing the shuttles that caused chaos and the lines in the parking lot that were awful. Nowhere near enough staff to coordinate things, lots of pushing and skipping, and as I said, buying the $5 tickets was a joke - but glad it went to the foundation. I can't blame anyone, there is no way to plan for this number of people making a last-minute call to partake in the festivities. I won't remember any of the pain of it a year from now.

If you're up for it, I'm interested in reading about your experience. The television feeds are obviously curated and focused on the front rows and the rally, so I'd love to get a sense of what it was like just to be in the city more generally, or at the parade in the less visible locations!

Given how many people were there I was expecting worse. I drove in from about 45 minutes outside MKE with my two kids. AmFam had free parking and back and forth shuttles to the Summerfest grounds all day. Realistically, it was well done for how little planning and staff they had.

The only sour part was really getting on the bus to go to the park; the way back was not so bad. I obviously was not front row for the parade or anything. I saw the parade several times on the bus actually, as we approached, looking into the city from the freeway. People on roof tops of parking garages, the high rise buildings, condo and apartment buildings - it was pretty insane. The area around Deer District was big during the Bucks run but this looked bigger by quite a substantial margin. Cool thing was just how many buildings downtown have signage and banners up. The Courthouse has a huge congrats banner.

The best view I got was by the Briggs stage at Summerfest, I was able to get near the exit and let my younger son get up on my shoulders. He got quite a good view of the actual parade. Lots of congestion for food but restrooms and areas with games and hanging out were plenty. Lots of flowing beer which I did not partake in needing to drive back and all. The diversity of fans at the rally jumped out to me as well. Old, young, all races, punks, lol, a real mix of everyone.

I think it was probably a blast for anyone there with other adults to drink a few beers and savor it all. I'm glad I went but would not have if not for the kids. I had tickets to all three rounds of games, but never got to go as they were Game 5, Game 6 & 7, and Game 6 - that stings a little bit. I just wanted to make sure they got some in-the-flesh memory of the whole thing.

The entire county seems to be out shopping as well. Never in my life have I seen Costco the way it looked this afternoon. Worse than the day before Thanksgiving. They have one pallet of championship gear out and it's just getting hammered. Dick's and Kohl's were the same. They seem to be just getting stuff off the trucks as I popped in on my way home, and people of all ages are in there grabbing whatever. It's hard to spot a person not wearing Brewers gear.

Thank you! This is great. Loved reading it.

One of my favorite parts (watching from home)------in 1957 at the downtown celebration when the Braves won, there was a fan walking around with a sign saying "Bushville Wins" in response to a Yankee player or two describing Milwaukee that way. Old pics from the celebration show the guy holding the sign. Today I noticed someone carrying a sign that simply said "Bushville Wins Again". As someone who gets a kick out of sports history I thought that was very cool.

Vogelbach obviously being uncomfortable in front of a crowd, it's not surprising the team forced him front & center. It's what families do lol. Hilarious!!!!
