No idea how they come up with these numbers but if the 500k they gave for the Bucks was even close, this was significantly more people. That was obvious as soon as I got half a mile away. It dwarfed the Bucks one.

They make it up out of thin air. It's mathematically impossible. I'd say half the reported 750k figure and that's being generous.

Some thoughts after watching the parade

1. Frelick, Bauers and Ashby bond is real. These guys seem super close

2. Dustin May looks completely disinterested in everything. Idk if it’s just his personality but he looked checked out

3. JoJo Romero is a vibe. Seems to be loving Milwaukee

I hope this bodes well for us retaining Bauers and Romero.

I am guessing they include all the people at Summerfest that didn't go to the actual parade. There are a lot of ways to get crowd numbers these days but I doubt MPD is using them. Some Bayesian analysis might get you within 20%

Say 150,000 at the Summerfest grounds which is being overly generous. There's no way there were 600,000 people crammed into 20 city blocks. I'm not trying to crap on the event, I was there and it was beyond amazing. It's just that someone makes up a number, it becomes instant accepted lore and is taken as fact until forever.

So you want us to use your made up number instead? Ok

Round it up to a million. I don't care. But if half  a million people from outside of the city were downtown there'd have been people who would've had to park in Franklin and Oak Creek and walk  from there.

There’s no way I want to give a large contract to Bauers.  Appreciate everything he’s done for us, but way too many red flags to give him a big money deal.  That type of contract that can derail a small market team.

I was at summerfest from the start through early afternoon, and also was there on a friday night this past season. I dont think ive seen it that busy in the main drag. You could argue isnt wasnt as busy directly on the lakeshore, but it was shoulder to shoulder across the main drag throughout, and even the BMO pavilion (secondary viewing area) was staccked with crowds quite thick beyond the actual seating.

Can confirm that the shuttle experience was a bit disappointing. Had to drive three hours to the city, so got tickets for the 10:30-11am window. It was immediately obvious that there were a bunch of free-riders, judging by the overwhelming crowd of people trying to get on. Amazingly, we still made our window (not that it mattered since no one ever asked to scan our tickets—though I’m happy to plop down twenty-five bucks for the community). Several individuals on our shuttle looked and smelled like they hadn’t stopped partying since Wednesday, at least, lol. Got to see the team buses as we approached Summerfest, and we arrived in time to partake in the “MVP” chants for Contreras as his bus made its slow approach.

On the grounds, it became quickly apparent that the experience was going to be a tough sell to my boys (11 and 8). I was loving the atmosphere and the coverage on screen, but they were bored.

My wife was with us (a Cards fan but one who enjoyed this Brewers season thoroughly—who wouldn’t at least be entertained by this team?) and she heroically braved the food lines with our oldest and was thoroughly annoyed. There were line jumpers aplenty, and getting four slices of pizza took nearly an hour. We ate during the start of Charlie Berens’ intro, but the boys were done. When they saw the line for merch was into next week they threw in the towel, despite my encouragements, so we missed the player interviews at the rally.

All in all, the experience was a good one for die hards and people with drinking age friends (and I think my wife and I would have had fun if it were just the two of us), but it was a bit rough with kids.

When we got back to AmFam we walked around getting pics of the postseason banners and Ueck’s statue. IMG_2779.jpeg.914752ea17242654ddb6cf9a2c6df455.jpegWhen we saw the team store was closed, we hit Rally House in Greenfield for some merch, and topped it off with Kopp’s on the way out of town (flavor of the Day was “Roll out the Barrel” and featured vanilla, caramel, pretzel, and a healthy “splash” of Miller Lite. It was solid, though the boys had just plain vanilla, ha).

An enjoyable day for me, despite the annoyances, and was a great payoff to the citizens who had waited a really long time for it.

Why do they have to be from outside the city? I think the number is BS and made up but I also think you're exaggerating the exaggeration. It was a workday and a huge chunk of people were probably just, you know, at work, and walked outside. Nobody would have to park in Franklin. The lot was packed full at AmFam and most aren't driving there alone.

I wouldn't know where to begin with an accurate guess. I'd throw 300k out and I guess see where it lands if I had to.

To make up for the 40% of the city's population that for whatever reason doesn't attend this kind of thing.

Not sure why this popped in my head now, but was Rickie Weeks at the parade? Haven't seen or heard much from him.

Bauers said: “You’re not getting rid of me that easy” When Murphy told him that he was gonna get paid etc

I can see him taking less to stay here

That's much easier to say when you’re celebrating a World Series than it is when you have a $100M contract on the table and you’ve made $8.7M in your entire career and are 31.

Yeah, I agree, if anyone might take a discount to stay, it may very well be Bauers, however, when bags of money are waived in front of your face, sentiment seems to disappear for most.

Sadly, the fact that someone "only" made 8.7 million in their "entire" career playing baseball, and that isn't enough, just hits me kind of weird...Oh well, the life of a high school teacher I guess...

Won't be $100 million. But I'll bet he can get $18 million a year for three years somewhere.
