I always thought he looked normal, albeit with logner than normal blon haird. That picture makes him look like he just finished a three day bender.

I don't have a problem with that play Yost put on with Sheets. He tried to catch LA off guard and it almost worked. Slightly better contact by Ben and the play may have worked. And considering the recent struggles this team has been having coming up with clutch hits, why not. Scotty is really scuffling as of late so I don't personally have a problem with it.

Yeah, that's what's funny... it's probably true. There were some games when he was with New York that he looked like he was tweaking in the bullpen. I don't know if he's into consciousness experimentation or not, but he can look pretty crazy when he feels like it.

Well, he hasn't been striking out. Last night was a rare multiple strikeout game. Pods has been putting it in play, they just haven't been falling. And most of the balls he's hit into the gap have been run down on very good plays.

Geoff does it again to start the 6th. Even if he refuses to see it, I just can't imagine why his teammates, coaches, manager, friends, his DOG, don't just point it out to him?

scotty's ops over the last seven games is over .800...he isn't really slumping so much...i think we may just be seeing a slight correction in his ba vs. last year...he's still a productive and valuable player when batting .260 because he walks and steals bases...i have confidence that the average will come back up to the .280 range...

 

i just wouldn't say he is in much of a slump at the plate...

 

on the other hand, jenkins lack of power this season is disturbing...

Why is Clark on deck?

 

It was a pretty creative move by Ned. PH Clark in the 9 hole for Sheets. Kieschnick was in the bullpen warming up so he couldn't hit. Clark then went into RF and Kiesch hit 3rd in the inning, taking Grieves place. I liked that move.

Rumor has it that Melvin ordered Yost to play a few games of strat-o-matic against Gord Ash on Monday...he's trying out some of the newfangled things he learned...varying the batting order, etc.

It was a double switch with the opposite effect. In effect, he is also PH for Grieve, which isn't totally necessary in my opinion. Plus, Clark ended up hitting against a RH and Kieschnick against a LH. Though maybe if Kieschnick hits the #9 spot, they bring in Martin earlier.

But it meant that Kiesneck would face a lefty. Kiesneck can't hit leftys. So what good did it do?

So at this point the in the season it certainly seems like strange reversals with the much pandered NL Central seeming like a very strong division and the NL West flopping rather badly, sure people expected a close race among flawed teams, but I don't think they expected a race were everyone was equally bad. And it's great to be 3 over .500 with no sweep suits needed!

If Kolb keeps pitching like he has been, he might have a shot at getting into the All-Star Game. You have to think that Sheets and Overbay are locks at this point it time, so it would be nice, if unlikely, to get a third guy there.

Don't look now but the Brewers 21 losses are only 1 more than the N.L. low of 20. What a wide-open, whacky, wild N.L. race.

Great win today. I like that they've won 6 of 9 despite not being able to score runs. It shows that these pitchers do indeed have talent.

Nice score prediction by DHonks. 2 out of 3 against the Pads seems to be a definite possibility. Hey, even if we only win 1 out of 3, we will still be 2 over .500. Saturday appears to be the toughest matchup for us. Come on Obermeuller!
