I'd like to see him brought back on an incentive-laden minor league deal with a NRI. He'll probably get a big league deal somewhere, though.

Given the lack of average relief pitching on the free agent market, it looks like Matt is about to get paid pretty well. He should at least beat the deal that LaTroy Hawkins got from the Yankees.

I don't think this had to be done, he would have been great as the 7th reliever in this pen. I think this is a move that Melvin will eventually regret.

Matt Wise is not very good. I would be surprised to see him get a major league deal.

That stinks, I liked Wise. Granted he was really really bad after hitting someone. But when I got an Autograph he was really a cool guy, seemed to be very very down to earth and wouldn't be above drinking a beer with people.

I simply won't miss his inability to pitch two games in a row. Kind of a pre-requisite for his job description.

Wise had one good season as a Brewer (2005). The other 3 he started fine but he fell off in the second and overall his numbers were rather ordinary.

 

When he was off, he got hit and hit hard. Better relievers don't allow slugging of .429 and .435 like he did the last two years. A two pitch pitcher essentially, once he struggled locating his mid 80's fastball he was toast.

I kinda liked him. At worst this year he could've put up a 4.20ERA IMO.. he was a good guy I'll miss him. With that said though as much as I would've rather have liked to see Aquino DFA I trust what Doug Melvin is doing.

I thought it was a drop in velocity along with his change getting faster.

 

I will miss Wise. Who is else isgoing to hit their head going into the dugout and miss a couple weeks because of salad tongs. I don't see how we have a spot for Aquino, but not Wise. I know he wasn't effective on back to back days, but neither is Turnbow.

Remember when Wise was on the DL and the guys in the bullpen missed him, so they built a full size model out of him out of straws and plastic cups? That was my favorite Wise moment.

For the record, I like you, Matt Wise, the person. If only you had pin point accuracy with your fastball you'd be dominate. You can still get there, believe you can fly. I salute you, Matt Wise.

I liked Wise. I wish they would've removed Aquino from the roster. What the hell do they like about Aquino so much? He doesn't even throw that hard, the hardest I've seen him throw is 92.

I don't mind Wise, but he really wasn't the same after that accidental beaning incident. Maybe a "change of scenery" is in order for him.

As Tom H. mentioned in his blog, Wise and Mench have been DFA'd, but this was just to clear roster spots.

 

Wednesday is the non-tender deadline, which occurs before the end of the 10-day window to trade, release, or assign to minor leagues, so none of these options will come into play.

Good luck to Wise. Questionable move by the Brewers as I think he would have filled out the bullpen nicely. Wise is about to become the best reliever left on the market and should cash out well as a result.
