  1. It is an issue. At this pace he will be shut down in August. They need him tested and able to go 6 strong on September. Also, DS will not trade Peralta or Hiura. This is no showcase, Peralta is the real deal.
  2. I’d ride him as long as he is pitching well though. If he is pitching well you probably take him out eventually so he can go to the bullpen. Which honestly with the stuff he has I wouldn’t be surprised if he is limited to possibly be in the bullpen down the stretch. Could have a big impact. I would send him back down and have him miss a couple starts here and there, take him out early, etc. I would want him ready as a starter down the stretch if they need him. That's the type of wild card that could make a big difference in September.
  3. Peralta can not stay in the rotation the rest of the year, that would be too big of an innings jump for him.
  4. Your slash lines are a little confusing there, leaving off slugging and adding number of HRs. Add slugging and his OPS looks like this the past 3 seasons: .771 .783 .892 Three years for Lucroy prior to the trade: .837 .717 .841 Realmuto stacks up to Lucroy, is much younger, cheaper, and is under control longer. It will take a lot to get him, and should. As I said previously, I wouldn't give up Hiura or Peralta in any trade, including this one. Any other package I would consider.
  5. Just my guess, but smells like they're just limiting his innings so he would be an option later in the year if they need a starter. Also, great to see Carlos Luna back on the bump. A bit of a rough outing, but not surprising since he hasn't pitched in a couple years.
  6. No question, it is impossible to know the top or the bottom. For that matter, how long it will take to get to the bottom, back to the top, etc. But I'm personally gambling that the market will not soar even higher in the next few years. Even if it does, at some point I see it going way down again. I wouldn't wait for the bottom, since we have no idea what it is. Just buy chunks on the way down once we get to correction territory. I just don't believe in dollar cost averaging for stocks. There is always some luck, some educated guessing involved, but I believe we've had a big bad bull market, and I'm not buying equities until we have a correction. Yea, that means I have to wait, maybe for a while, but that's ok.
  7. I see no problem trying to time the market. If I get a check for half a million today, no way would I put that into the market. Maybe I would lose out, but I'm just very confident there will be a correction within the next few years. I don't trust any advisors, not sure I would even it was a family member. If they were so good at the job, they would have been able to retire long ago with 10s of millions of dollars. They can't beat the S&P on a regular basis any more than you can. Are there really good ones out there, and ones that have my best interest in mind? Probably, but impossible to know. As mentioned earlier, tax considerations is something you should always keep in mind. Sock away as much as you possibly can in 401k and IRAs. Even annuities are worth looing into, which the financial planning world hates. (As a contrarian, that tells me it's worth looking into.) First thing you should do though, buy a few thousand tickets to every Cubs game at MP the rest of they year and hand them out only to Brewer fans.
  8. Playing deeper lets him get balls in the gap between SS/3B, and prevent a few more screamers down the line. Yes, you give up a couple soft grounders in the process. No different than the shifts, overall you come out ahead. OP knows all this, just likes to stir things up and move on.
  9. Maybe this is true, maybe not. Not a big fan of "Un-named sources." Mostly though, I'm trying to figure out what kind of shape I must be in if Arcia was out of shape.
  10. Yea, this has nothing to do with Monday morning QBing. If anything, judging by this thread alone, some people over-reacted to one great start. I never expected him to repeat his 2017 season, and that's fine. But he has to be better and more consistent than he's been so far this year. And THAT I do think is still possible.
  11. 6 man rotation is out, they've basically been going with 4 1/2 man rotation. I think they really slow walk Davies, nothing to consider for a while. Will Miley replace Suter? At this point, no. My guess is Miley gets added to the pen and they DFA Logan, who will end up in CS. Not a big market out there for pitchers who can't get anyone out. Miley could always be stretched out again as a starter if Suter stumbles. I also don't see Peralta up for the rest of the year, it would just be too many innings. Hoping they send him back down and skip a few starts so he can be used in September/ October.
  12. Slight problem with that, he left the country. With the way rotating bullpens work these days, Wang certainly would have had a shot at some point. Obviously he wasn't committed to MLB. That's fine, his decision, but you can't say the Brewers somehow passed on him.
  13. I don't think they are at all. Teams make emotional decisions all the time leading up to the deadline, chances are someone will offer them more than we think.
  14. I agree. Hiura and Peralta are almost untouchable for me. Trading one or both for Archer or others may indeed be a fair trade, just not one I would do. All prospects have risk. But I don't want to trade 6+ years of a guy who is projecting to be an All Star (Hiura) and a guy who could be that TOR starter everyone's been talking about for years (Peralta.) I never bought into that with Woodruff, Burnes, Ortiz, etc. But that is Peralta's ceiling. He has the stuff and is almost there in terms of commanding it. If you want to package Burnes, Arcia, Ray or something like that, I would be fine with it.
  15. Would love to see 6 innings from Peralta, then 3 from Hader. They could set MLB record with 48 Ks in a game.
  16. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23773511/clinton-dix-kind-says-skip-otas-contract 2nd paragraph more telling. It helped that I saw the interview. We all know what the wink means.
  17. Wasn't he at his college graduation and then his godmother had a heart attack and passed away? Dude, chill. Dude, that was his original story. Then he changed his story dude.
  18. unfortunately he's a 25 year old who basically was demoted from AAA after last year, I don't believe he has much stock Yea, he was demoted last year. But now we're talking about this year. 25 in AA is a little old but his numbers look great, especially the power. Out of Orf, Moore, Hager I would say Hager is the most intriguing to me. (Orf isn't on the radar.) But without seeing any of them play, hard for me to have a strong opinion that any of them should get a shot. And with Miller coming up soon, not sure I see the point in finding out.
  19. I don't want to force it either, I agree. But it would help tremendously to have a true LOOGY in the pen. Hader isn't used that way, obviously. Jennings isn't dominant enough against LH hitters to really fit that role. They obviously have a lot more info on QTC and Ramirez than we do, but if either has the right stuff that would be nasty on LH at the MLB level, that would be worth trying for sure.
  20. I get it, you can wipe away an entire season if it doesn't fit an agenda. He has made adjustments, which is easy to see if you compare his pre-pitch movement today vs earlier in the year. Plus, both CC and Coles have said they're working on some things, including focusing on the opposite field. You may want to be sure before you question a player's devotion. Otherwise it's a very cheap shot to take at a player, you're better than that.
  21. We also have guys to trade at the MLB level. Arcia, Santana, Pina, Woodruff off the top of my head are all guys with plenty of team-controlled years left. They are still prospects, basically. Maybe the Marlins believe in the old "change of scenery concept." Burnes, Arcia, Broxton, Supak. Would that be enough? I would do that deal.
  22. McCarthy: "I know Bill Belichick. He's a friend of mine. Winston, you are no Bill Belichick."
  23. He had a very good year in his AA season, that's an entire year. He's had stretches in 2016 and 2017 where he hit very well. It's not like he has always been awful, and that's why some of us are holding out hope he can find that again. And you're wrong about making zero adjustments. He is focusing on trying to go the opposite field, that's one adjustment. He has eliminated some of his pre-pitch movements in the box, that's another adjustment. Obviously needs to make other adjustments. But to say he's done nothing, and that's all you need to know about him? That's a baseless, cheap shot.
  24. Houser is seen at the moment as a starter. Sure, they could still add him to the pen at any time but that doesn't solve the Logan problem. They need to replace him with a LHP, either QTC or Ramirez.
