  1. Walker and Harrison were two names being thrown around, neither look like they would be a better option so far. I think Stearns also realizes a decent 2B can always be found during the season. I mean they found two of them last year that helped for short periods of time. Plan D, I'm sure Castro is for sale if/when Stearns wants to pay the price it would take to get him.
  2. Yea, CS numbers are inflated for every player. Using that as a basis for promoting someone would mean you would never promote a player from CS. My guess, and it's only a guess, Orf would produce almost identical numbers to what Villar is doing so far this year if he played regularly. In the case of Villar, he has proven more upside than this at the MLB level. Orf, I Just don't see an OPS over .700- .710 or so. Guys like him, Wren, Cooper, etc. have value though, and it always amazes me some team out there doesn't trade for them. We're talking about guys who are probably slightly below replacement level, but they can be had for almost nothing and plug a hole for a couple seasons.
  3. I liked that he wears #20. Sort of looks like what Gorman Thomas would have been if he were a LH pitcher.
  4. Arcia and Santana are starting to hit. I noticed Arcia is not as active pre-pitch as he was earlier this season. Always looked like a whole lot of timing movement with the big open stance, etc. Anyhow, optimistic we get more production from those two moving forward and a good reminder that players aren't robots who produce identical numbers every month. Some guys start slow, some are Babe Ruth in April.
  5. I was stating that in terms of if he was a starter. If you only have two pitches, I feel like you will have less luck the second and third time through the lineup. That's why a lot of pitchers end up in the pen, because they only have one or two good pitches. Right, but my point is this. It's not that he CAN'T throw a change-up, it's that he doesn't need to throw it in his current role. If he ever does get moved to the rotation, he can and will throw it more often if he needs that pitch.
  6. Hader just struck out 8 of the 9 batters he faced with FB/Slider. Why in the world would he want to throw a change? I'm sure he could throw it if he needed to throw it, mostly because it wouldn't even have to be anything close to a plus pitch for him. Just a get me over change or curve is all he needs, and if/when that's necessary I really believe he could add that.
  7. I can see Suter bouncing back and forth between Milw and CS all season as injuries occur. Sogard is on borrowed time, but there always seems to be a move that saves him temporarily. He may be safe until Thames comes back, but even then somehow he'll stick, The one thing I hope we can all agree on, Bandy should not see the 25 man roster for the rest of this season. There are at least 3 better options in Vogt, Nottingham, and Bethancourt.
  8. It is absolutely NOT illegal to use social media posts as a reason not to hire someone, or fire them. Unless you use that as a reason to discriminate against someone that falls into one of the protected classes. I don't know of any company who doesn't check out someone's social media as part of the interview process. In my opinion, I really don't hold things against someone for stuff they posted in HS or college. I may ask about it, but for the most part I chalk it up to young people do and say stupid things, I know I did. If it's more recent activity though, sure, I ding people all the time. I don't this of course, but in theory I could choose not to hire someone for being a Cubs fan. Nothing illegal about that. Are you saying you would hire a cubs fan? Hire them to do what? Whatever crappy work is still left to do that the Cardinals fan can't handle.
  9. I don't buy that at all. I'm no Kidd fan, but he never had a problem with guys taking a 3. Snell took plenty of 3s in the playoffs, just couldn't make any. Again, I do believe a new coach/offense will help with guys like Brogdon. But they need 4-6 guys who can bury a 3 like most other teams. The Bucks don't have that now, they just don't.
  10. Worse is the people who agree to sell or you show interest just for them to go into the dark. Probably finding some better offer or get cold feet. Or, I've had this happen. Agree to a price through email, show up to sell the item, and dude wants to negotiate the price some more. I said "sorry, I don't have time for this," got in my car and drive away. At that point I got more pleasure out of driving off than seeing if he would still take it for the price we agreed to up front. But that's Craigslist, you know what you're in for.

  12. Interesting. I did watch the 1st season, not sure how much of season 2 but then I gave up. Sounds like it's worth circling back.
  13. Those days are over. I mean, I agree with you that's the way it's always been. Part of the reason is they've always had that luxury, the top 3-5 WR have always been set in years past. This is one example of many, this organization needs to wake up and get beyond 2010. Is the offense complex? Sure. But c'mon, it's football. Figure it out, learn it and move on. Rodgers has to be on board with that too. "I'm not throwing it to you until I trust you." Waive good-bye to that line of thinking. There are four new, big WRs including Clark. All we need is for two of them to be ready to contribute in Week 1. Obviously injuries factor in to all this, and there's no way all of their top 8 or so WRs will avoid injury between now and week 1.
  14. Henson plays solid post defense. The whole structure of the defense was the biggest problem. On offense, again, a new coach alone will really help. But they need shooters, plain and simple. Any idea how many assists and secondary assists Giannis could/ would have if this team had 3 point shooters like practically every other team? They should be open to trading anyone not named Giannis. Yes even Middleton. It's not that I want o get rid of him, but you have to give up quality to get quality. And for the right deal, yea I would be open to that. Bledsoe definitely needs to go.
  15. Although I've never said Hader is being wasted in this role, I have always said he should be starting. I'm not above admitting I was wrong, and Hader is convincing me I probably am. Imagine being able to pitch Hader in every playoff game instead of one or two each series.
  16. Top of the order has not had a productive series, it happens. It's not Luke they're losing these games 9-0.
  17. Sorry, but I need to throw a flag. Please don't be "that guy" you're better than that ; ) You can wear a regular Packers jersey, otherwise wear a sweatshirt or something. But it is against fan rules to make up your own jersey, look it up.
  18. They are getting seasoned, seared, and served by Colorado Springs. Get them the heck out of there and they will be just fine.
  19. TBuck was a good corner, so I don't take that as a negative comment. He had a tough start in GB due to rule changes right when he started his career. (No hands on receiver AT ALL for a couple years.) Once he adjusted to that he had a rather long career. Do I hope Alexander is better though? Of course! He's also a converted WR, so who knows maybe they try him out there too at some point.
  20. Is Giannis an MVP-type player? This is the next step. He is the best player on the court, can he put the team on his shoulders and win Game 7? That is the next step for him, and the Bucks. Really important he stays out of foul trouble, no more than 2 fouls going into the 4th so he doesn't have to worry about offensive fouls or playing rim protector on the defensive end. Which coach throws something new out there? Not any secrets left as is, we'll see if either coach makes an adjustment. How about starting Muhammad? They can't afford to get down early again on the road. Start with another scorer on the court?
  21. Smallish CB, but the league is changing, more quick little WR. Plus, they just flat out need more speed back there, and he has ball skills. We'll see if it works, but I get the thinking.
  22. I caught that too, he really emphasized getting 17 outs. Really interesting to see everything we talked about in the off-season coming to fruition. This is definitely sustainable for the entire season as long as they have relievers who can pitch more than one inning, and they certainly have plenty of those. Also, CC is getting all of them comfortable pitching in any situation. You may pitch the 6th or the 9th. 1/3 of an inning or 2 innings. With the lead, or not. Enter with runners on base, or to start an inning. That will really serve them well in the playoffs too.
  23. As just pointed out in the optimism thread, the Marlins just took 2 outta 3 in LA. Bad teams are still going to win 65-70 games every year. Sweeps are hard to get, even against bad teams. The Brewers are playing exceptionally well right now, and are getting really good pitching. Counsell (dare I say it) is managing pretty well right now. He's pulling his starters before they get to the melt-down stage and letting his lights-out bullpen handle games for him. Yes, beating bad teams is a good thing. I'm not suggesting the last 8 wins should somehow count less. At the same time, when evaluating a player it's fair to point out the competition. All I'm saying is that it's too early to make any conclusions about any of the starters yet, especially when the last two starts for each pitcher was against bad teams. That even includes Anderson who still has to show he can put in an entire season similar to last year. So far, so good, and it's better than the alternative. But again, I want to see another month of starts from all these guys before I make and conclusions.
  24. Since this isn't the optimism thread, we just can't ignore we've played three bad/horrible teams. They went 8-1 which is outstanding, beat up on the weak. But I'll give it another month before I start making any conclusions about Chacin or anyone else in the rotation. At least there's hope that this rotation can be just good enough.
  25. Every draft has players that fall. If there's a big run at QB and DB, something has to give. Would you take Vea is he falls to 14? Any other player you would take if he falls? Quenton Nelson?
