  1. We don't need to get rid of a pitcher. Gallardo, Wolf, Davis, Parra and Bush as starters. Hoffman, Hawkins, Coffey, Vargas, Suppan, Narveson, Stetter as the pen. Villanueva optioned to AAA. Stetter can also go to AAA to make room if we want somebody else instead. Ideally we would want to have decent starters in AAA to keep them stretched out, but getting rid of one would be a huge mistake.
  2. Yeah the end of that movie seemed shoehorned. It had to end the way it did but how they got there was pretty poor writing. I also thought Yoda was winning and just walked away at the end. It sucked to have whiny guy throw Windu out the window.
  3. Not really sure why they would sign this. The only plus I see is the option at the end. It actually looks like they just moved some money up a few years and really didn't save any money. Denard Span of 5 years/$16.5M (2010-14), plus 2015 club option 5 years/$16.5M (2010-14), plus 2015 club optionsigned extension with Minnesota 3/13/10, replacing 1-year deal signed 3/7/1010:$0.75M, 11:$1M, 12:$3M, 13:$4.75M, 14:$6.5M, 15:$9M club option ($0.5M buyout)
  4. 4.58 ERA may not be great but it is good enough to be a starter for practically any team in the league. which is why I want to see what Soup can do with Gomez and Escobar - and a healthy Rickie - up the middle defensively We are likely to see worse or equal defense up the middle this year. Gomez is a small upgrade over Cameron. There is no way Weeks matches the defense we got at 2B last year.(we got the best 2B defense in all of baseball last year according to UZR) I think at some point Escobar can be an elite defender, but JJ was very solid(8.8 UZR/150) last year. Overall I think we lost about half to a whole win defensively up the middle.
  5. So Parra has minor league success and puts up a 4.39 ERA(4.18 FIP) in a season where he wore down at the end then has one bad year and people want Suppan instead. Unless Parra shows a complete lack of control, he should easily be ahead of Suppan.
  6. We will need at least 7 starters this year. More likely closer to 9 or 10. It makes little sense to get rid of Bush, Suppan, Parra or any other starting pitcher until we have a few guys in the minors show they can pitch.
  7. This show is in danger of going off the season pass list for me. It is and has been kind of blah for a while now. One or two nice laughs a show isn't really enough.
  8. Rickie Weeks is my favorite player(or Hart, right now he is 1B since he hasn't been playing well). I don't really get to attached to any players for the most part. I cheer for the Brewers. Doesn't really make much sense to me to get to attached to any players.
  9. If McGehee doesn't work out they would go with Gamel. I would have to think 3B is way down our list of priorities right after SS.
  10. I REALLY wanted Lofgren to end up on our AAA roster as depth. For Lofgren to make it to our AAA team he had to be offered back to the Indians.
  11. Parra already has one good MLB season under his belt as well. He had a 4.39 ERA in 2008. That even includes a few starts at the end where he was obviously worn down and should have been shut down. Parra probably has the 2nd best or best stuff on the staff.
  12. I would guess Irrabaren would be due the minimum and if he gets picked up by another club they would be paying him this year. The only real surprise here as others mentioned is the timing. Seems pretty early. I guess they are trying to get more at bats for people they think will actually make the club.
  13. They are planning on releasing DA:O2 less than a year from now. They are really supporting this franchise a lot. Love Borderlands. It is one of those games where I plan on playing for an hour and end up playing several hours. Have been playing The Secret Armory of General Knoxx quite a bit. Pretty good DLC.
  14. Most of those guys fall under "really bad player who will not help our team."
  15. Corey Patterson, Joe Winkelsas or any other really bad player that will not improve our team. If you can play and make us better, welcome.
  16. I thought Nomar retired a year ago.
  17. We'll see. Hopefully that's all it is. With Macha I have little faith that is all he is doing.
  18. I don't think he is stomping around and complaining or anything, yet, I just got the impression he thought he was promised a lot of at bats and I don't think he would or should get many.
  19. My objections mostly center around my opinion that I don't think he will get enough at bats to keep him happy. It seems like he thinks he will get more than half the at bats at some outfield spot. I also don't think he is a good CF anymore. His UZR/150 in CF since 2002. 1.4, 6.0, 1.3, 9.7, 7.6, -2.3, -23.3. Nothing there to suggest he would be much better than average at best in CF. Yet, Macha has been putting him in CF almost exclusively. I hate a manager with sharp objects.
  20. I was always under the impression that most of Gamel's problems at 3B were throwing related. I thought he looked pretty good at 3B fielding last year.
  21. I think he makes the team. Not sure if I like that idea much. He seems like he wants to get at least all the AB, or very near to, against RHP. I also see him in CF a lot so far this spring and I think he may be only our 3rd best CF on the team defensively(Gomez then Gerut then maybe Edmonds).
  22. I can see Gomez losing time to Gerut in CF pretty early if Gomez doesn't hit.
  23. I hope that they are just giving him a more at bats but I doubt it. BA said that Macha likes Gomez in the 2 hole because he thinks pitchers will be more agressive with him because of Braun and Fielder behind him.
  24. No matter how you format it you are going to get teams that don't belong get in and teams left out that should get a chance. The fact that teams can easily win 5+ games fewer or more than their talent makes getting the best teams in the playoffs impossible. Even adding a 30 game chase for the cup type schedule at the end wouldn't make things different. The best team in the league could run into injuries or the worst team in the round robin could get hot over a month and end up as champion. We have had some bad Brewers teams recently that had great first halves. Anything can happen over a month or even 5 months for that matter. We have witnessed first hand several Mets teams melt down in the last month only to miss the playoffs.
