  1. I'd try to bring Gonzalez back just to avoid having a terrible bench again next year...seriously, izturis? I almost died when they signed him, and the worst hitter in the history of baseball has gotten substancial playing time. Hart's not worth near what most here belief...trading him will not reload the farm system...it would be amazing if we could get a single player of Segura's caliber by trading Hart. Aram is a terrific player, but he's in the same situation---besides, when you trade guys you just signed to multi-year deals, other players stop wanting to sign for you. I can see the Brewers going the other way---we have guys like Green, Gennet, and Schafer who probably won't ever get a real shot to start with the Brewers...I can see a pile of our aging prospects being traded for a veteran sp, or some bullpen help.
  2. well, that's settled
  3. surely its ar-ree-ell, not like the mermaid, right?
  4. The main thing about closers for me has always been that there is a much smaller difference between the average guys and mariano rivera than an average starting pitcher/ hitter and maddux/mays... so, while i think having an amazing closer does make a difference, he can't carry the team like a mays or maddux can because he only controls a small portion of the game...
  5. i think they can contend next year...i don't think blowing up the team will be the key here... so, i think a free agent or two, an infusion of our own new talent, and maybe one more trade...hart maybe? would be my plan
  6. Wolf and Krod are worthless in trades...both guys are owed several million dollars and have been terrible...they were never going to be traded for anything...if one gets hot this month, i suppose they might be traded for cash considerations...Marcum is hurt, so isn't going to be traded, but i have a feeling he will be resigned or at least offered arbitration---I'd guess the brewers feel like they need one veteran type besides Gallardo in the rotation, and the known commodity- Marcum- likely trumps the unknowns... I give it a 5...I think Seggy will be a major league starter, but he's not a blue chip...as for the pitchers, they don't seem much better than the guys we already had in the minors...so, it was a good trade, but not a team changer in the long run...well, other than we have the worst hitter in the history of baseball in izturis taking at bats away from one of the most notorious 4a players of the last twelve years in Ransom...so, i guess a real major league short stop is pretty awesome
  7. Anybody know what the club record for Hr's is for the Stars since the Crew took over? Hunter Morris with 20...and a month to go
  8. I would, but he is made of glass---I'd consider him as a free agent next year, but you really need a hairston-type backup to go along with him. I don't see him as a trade candidate for us
  9. Cam Garfield has been some kind of awesome this month---for those of you who have gotten to see him a lot this year, is there a noticeable difference? What's going on here?
  10. for my part, i'm hoping they bring up shafer and trade gomez or morgan
  11. it would seem that way, unless they brewers are believers in Bianchi
  12. yeah, roache feels like he should've been drafted higher, but fell to us...so we got a top ten pick at 29...god bless that injured wrist (and heal it up good!)
  13. he looks like him? reynolds compared him to jim rice and ron gant, either of which would be awesome
  14. i'm tentatively stoked about this...i like raw power...some of the guys that have gone before these two haven't excited me at all, but i like what they said about these two
  15. i was looking forward to watching some baseball tonight, but i'm not sure i can handle this...
  16. apparently, when the suitcase fell on his hand, he tore his acl, out for the season
  17. yeah, i think without the injuries, we might be two wins better
  18. well, if it's some consolation, the most recent wave of injuries hasn't happened to particularly good players---though it is comedic that we've run out of 1b's and ss in the organization
  19. Is zarraga incapable of catching anymore? he's hit well at A+ for three years now
  20. yeah, but green at 2b means ishikawa or conrad at 1b and then we are basically the nashville lineup + braun, hart, and lucroy
  21. throws gas=gets strikeouts
  22. I know this guy has a lot of potential, and that he had pretty good stats last year, but he has bombed in high leverage situations this year. I'm not ready to pull the plug on him completely, but he isn't anything close to reliable and shouldn't be in anything but mop up now... anyone see this differently?
  23. well, he had an MRI last night, so we can look forward to a middle infield of izturis and maysonet and a 100 loss season
