  1. Hmm, sounds like Hulu+ isn't even worth trying. I will probably stick with Netflix but it would be nice to see someone challenge them in the near future.
  2. Has anyone used the paid versions of Hulu (Hulu+) and Netflix? There's also a streaming service from Amazon. I have Netflix and love using it on my PS3, but they recently changed their pricing structure so I'm interested in what else is out there. If Hulu+ offers more streaming options I would jump ship since that works on PS3 too. I might sign up for a month to both to compare, but just curious if anyone had any input.
  3. Is Yunni considered a SS anymore either because thats the only measuring stick that matters at this point.
  4. Actually it wasn't even my question. And you did address it because you quoted it then skirted around the actual question so I don't think I was reaching at all. As you said to me, I feel as though you're doing the same thing with regard to judging RRR on that play. Something was right in front of you but you are drawing the wrong conclusion and dug your heels in, refusing to give in when nearly everyone in this discussion saw it a different way than you.
  5. So I take this as an admiration that you weren't actually watching the game since you didn't answer the question and because of how it was so painfully obvious they were going to crash in.
  6. You got your seasons mixed up, that was last year when he was coming off his 2nd surgery. The injury he suffered often takes a full year to recover from so endaround was correct in that he was coming off a long rehab process.
  7. How is that at all, in any possible way, relevant to this situation?
  8. And going to Philly to get curb stomped in the playoffs with Wolf as our #3 and a burnt out bullpen.
  9. That's a laughable defense of Melvin... the best players on that list weren't actually prospects anymore when they were acquired... Overbay, Cappy, Moeller, Obemueller.... the only potential impact player on that entire list talent wise was JDLR., the best performer stat wise was Cappy. Pointing to trades of incredibly midling prospects as proof that Melvin does indeed trade for young talent is disingenuous at best. It's like pointing to Wolf as proof his FA pitching acquisitions have been successful on the whole. It's as silly a claim as when Chase Wright was acquired to provide quality starting pitching depth. I really like Villy, always have, he's one of the few soft tossers I've ever gotten behind, but he overachieved his prospect status by a wide margin, look who we traded for him. I've basically said all I've had to say about the way Melvin cycles talent in 100s of previous posts. I think acquiring Morgan for Dykstra saved the season, and he basically stole K-Rod for peanuts. Short of that he's usually overpaid talent wise to acquire the name the players he's gone after, people will try to circularly justify the trades, especially if they happen to like Melvin. Objectively, there's simply no way Marcum and Lawrie was an even deal talent wise, I posted it at the time, and I still believe it now, and this is coming from a poster that always thought Marcum should have been the focus of the Overbay deal with Toronto. Again, he's one of the few soft tossers I've ever latched onto, though when I latched onto him he was throwing significantly harder than he is now. People are going to believe what they want to believe, but trading for warm bodies or players with high floors isn't the same as trading for young talent.... to trade for young talent the player actually has to possess talent, he has to have a high ceiling. We haven't traded for any young impact talent since the Sexson deal and 1 player in that deal had the talent to be an all-star caliber player year in and year out, that was JDLR. All the rest of the players were league average stop gaps just pushing the club towards respectability while we waited for the cavalry from our minor league system to arrive. I'm glad my silly and laughable defense of Melvin brightened your day. However, if you had followed my posts you would have realized I wasn't defending Melvin. I was simply stating that in general he has traded for prospects as opposed to sending them away, never mentioning if that was a positive or a negative in terms of how I view his overall performance. If you want to qualify that by the quality of the prospects he has brought back go for it, I was just providing the raw numbers. Interpret them and disqualify certain players by your arbitrary rules all you want, it doesn't effect that overall list or his intentions at the time of those trades.
  10. How ironic that you want to give him a pass for being a rookie and needing time to adjust when RR himself won't allow the same for players who would probably be outperforming the gritty vets at this point.
  11. Except of course when Apple is suing someone. Then things like a candy bar style phone becomes their innovation when they just ripped off the HTC Wizard.
  12. While not really an applicable analogy, I find this interesting. In my field, engineering, when I am managing someone if they mess up and it gets past me as a licensed engineering I am required to take full responsibility for their mistake. Wouldn't the manager of this accountant take the blame for hiring an accountant who couldn't add? At the very least, wouldn't people be concerned that this manager didn't know how to properly manage his people and what their strengths and weaknesses were?
  13. You know as well as the rest of us that it isn't black and white. There are degrees of winning. If they were being put into a better position to win they would be winning more games than they are now and have a better chance to win games going forward. They are at a .596 win percentage right now inspite of not being put in the best position to win, which would be higher if they were managed more effectively. You are asking for something that doesn't exist. What evidence do you see that shows RR is putting the Brewers in the best chance to win? Since that doesn't exist either can we just use common sense?
  14. I've never met Ron Roenicke, but I can pretty much guarantee that he has more baseball knowledge in his little finger than all of the Monday-morning quarterbacks combined. His critics here can't even agree if bunting in the 9th was the correct move. Some say bunting at all in that spot was a horrible choice due to the positioning of the fielders. Other say bunting in that spot would have been okay, but just not with Yuni. So which is it? RR played professional baseball for 11 years. He has been a coach for 19 years, including being named Manager of the Year twice in the minors. When he was in the running for the Brewers manager vacancy, Joe Maddon gave RR a glowing review. Isn't Joe Maddon considered to be one of the most intelligent managers in baseball history? Has he made some decisions that have backfired or not worked out this season? Absolutely. However, to say he knows nothing about baseball is ludacris. While he probably knows more about what goes on in the dugout, in the clubhouse, at practices, and and in preparation for the game due to those years playing and coaching I have to strongly disagree that he knows more about in game management at this point than many of the posters here. And why would he? While he has an extensive background in the behind the scenes stuff while most here don't, I'm confident I've seen enough baseball played in my life at 30 to out-tactician him in an actual game. And for the record, I do think thats very sad. I wish organizations would find some very intelligent people who have coached at lower levels and give them a chance in the minors with an eye on an actual MLB position instead of going through the old boys club of guys who couldn't hit but still made it to the majors. Its like a club where they wont let intelligent people in. A Belichick type wouldn't even be considered in MLB circles.
  15. Right, but on Android the apps are integrated into the OS and run simultaneously in the background. Many of those innovations being apps are really one of the key innovations of Android itself. And depending on the build nearly all of those features are included on the phone out of the box. HTC's sense for example has an amazing UI that is very easy to pick up and I am guessing most iPhone users have never given it a shot. Thanks for looking, I would appreciate an article. It will be interesting to see how the Android Apps work on Blackberry's system. I wonder if they will run as well in the background and if Widgets, ect will still work.
  16. MJLiverock wrote: I think this is the perception that Apple pushes on the consumers but it isn't necessarily true. Look at the major upgrades Jobs bullet pointed for iOS5. 1- Notifications Bar. This was available on Android from day one in 2008.2- Twitter Integration. Android developers can integrate any app, which is an awesome feature.3 - Tabed browsing. Many Android browser apps have been doing this for a long time.4 - OTA Updating. Basically every mobile OS besides Apple has been doing this.5 - iMessage. I'm guessing this is basically a ripoff of BBM or any of the similar Android Apps.6 - The new Camera features. Already available in certain Android Apps.7 - Cloud synch. Apple's version still doesn't catch up to a Google Account Synch on an Android phone.8 - Photosharing. Easy to do with Facebook, Twitter, ect on Android. All of these features have been "invented" first by Android and/or other Mobile OSs. I put invented in quotes because Apple is the only company who seems to claim to have invented anything when they sue someone. Android was based on a Linux kernel and its Apps are written in Java and run on Dalvik. Google purchased Android Inc back in 2005 and released the software as opensource. So you could make the argument that they weren't innovative because they had so much input from so many sources, but I think the real innovation was how open the development was. Android may have been based on something related to QNX, but I was unable to find anything about that. Could you provide a link so I can see the relation? Anyway, QNX Blackberry devises require an "Android Player" which I assume is basically an emulator. So again, I am not seeing the link. I also think its false to say that Google doesn't make money on the Android system. They may not make money on the individual hardware sales (currently) but they make a ton of money with advertising through all of the free services they provide. As someone who now uses Gmail, Google Calender, Google Maps, and of course Google, the sponsored links they provide are so accurate I'm often happy to click on the links since it is what I was looking for in the first place.
  17. I don't consider other options because the iPhone (like every single other Apple product I've ever bought) works well, and it works well for a really long time.Again, I am glad the iPhone has worked so well for you, but this doesn't explain the vast majority of iPhone users since it simply doesn't work well for voice calls. Since it is a cell phone you would think this is the most important feature but many just overlook it and thats really what I don't get.
  18. A lot of it is AT&T's fault, but thats why I made the original point about the Google icon issue. If Jobs is so concerned about the color of the icon Google provided you would hope he would be pushing AT&T to improve the single most important thing about his device. Unless of course he is more concerned with style over function, or rather that he can keep his fanbase satisfied with style over function. I think if anyone has used an AT&T iPhone and some of the Android 2.2/2.3 phones on Verizon's LTE network or Sprints 4G WiMax network they wouldn't even consider an iPhone. Yet there's so many people with iPhones who wont even consider the much better options out there when its time to upgrade and I really don't understand why. My hats off to Jobs for building such a loyal fanbase that they are willing to only purchase an inferior product. The only thing about his tenure that has bothered me is how Apple (and to be fair other companies like Microsoft) has recently tried to slow the innovation of the competition with lawsuits while at the same time copying a bunch of Android's features.
  19. I was listening to Kim Komando for a bit this morning (syndicated radio technology show), and she made it sound like this was more or less a done deal.I'm hopeful the next generation or two of iPhones will begin to use Sprint and Verizon's 4G WiMax/LTE networks. I doubt I'd switch from Android, but it would be nice to have the competition.
  20. I've rarely, maybe never, had a problem making a call from either my current iPhone or the previous one.Again, I think its great that you're particular phone and the location you live in has worked so well for you, but the iPhone/AT&T have had well documented problems at every iteration. I just found it funny that Jobs would be so concerned with something as trivial as the color of an icon when many of his users had to live with a 30% call drop rate. That style over function mentality is what allowed android to pass up the iOS in my opinion. I hope the new CEO will get back to creative innovation to keep up instead of copying Android's innovations while suing them to slow development.
  21. They have very little in common. Also, the Twins have fans in western WI and the Dakotas. MKE is bordered by more populated areas on 3 sides and the 4th is a body of water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_United_States_Metropolitan_Statistical_Areas
  22. Maybe it will be in the future, but it looks as though BP's site isn't as up to date as Cots.
  23. isn't that more the fault of his carrier? I've owned quite a few phones and the iPhone gets the best reception out of any of them with an internal antenna. Well other people who had ATT phones didn't have as much trouble. I'm glad your iPhone worked but from reviews and from the people I know you're the exception.
  24. I had to send that to my friend. I am sure he will be happy to know that Steve's attention to detail caused him to worry about the colors in the Google icon but not about his inability to make a phone call from inside either of his last two apartments.
  25. I'm 20 hour into Mass Effect 2 on PS3. It's like Knights of The old Republic as a 3rd person shooter. Plus I'm enjoying the seemingly realistic scifi and explanations. It's like your not jus upgrading a weapon or exploring a planet from orbit, you read an interesting blurb about a new world.
