  1. Shouldn't the people signing this guest book be buying season tickets and additional households in SE WI instead?
  2. This is a good idea, except the sling box does not have a tuner, so you will end up watching whatever your parents have tuned in. I have one hooked up at my ex wifes house, since I dont want to watch what she or my son are watching, and since they only have 1 box, I used an old vcr as a tuner (this is just for basic cable) and tucked it in a corner. There are Slingbox models with tuners. The coax goes right into the Slingbox and you control the channel with the software.Yea, I would get that and just install it in the basement so they wouldn't have to even think about it. I don't want to watch HGTV 17 hours a day like my mom does.
  3. At least they did break into the games and show the highlights on the Chicago feed. But it still sucks. I am seriously considering putting a slingbox at my parents place back in Milwaukee.
  4. I don't think anyone is just using WAR to vote. It seems like they are using it as just one piece to make their overall decision. Personally, I think its Braun and its really not even close. WAR happens to back that up.
  5. Yea, it sounds like they also want to put the money into player development or maybe foreign prospect signings.
  6. I live on the north side of Chicago and this isn't the impression I get. Ricketts just said on the radio that he has no idea what the payroll will be next year. This fanbase won't show up for a flashy signing, they are used to bad contracts being handed out to peaking FAs. They want a winner before individuals start buying the single game tickets again (season ticket sales are doing okay since most are owned by corporations, attendance is down since the tickets are sold already but nobody uses them).
  7. I try to meet girls through a common friend, that way you don't have to overcome that initial "is he a serial killer" fear women put up. Probably most of the girls I've met and dated were the friend of a girl one of my friends was dating. Plus, you immediately have something to talk about, your mutual friends. Something like "you're Jenny's friend, right? Have we met before" is a much better pick up line than anything you can say to a random girl at the bar. That being said, my current girlfriend "picked me up" at a bar by getting me to take a picture of her and her friends, then standing next to me until I struck up a conversation.
  8. Then why is Hart leading off? I'm not saying I agree with the "speed spot" comment but if you're going that route, Weeks is faster than Hart. In fact, I'd say there's at least 4-5 guys on the team faster than Hart. You think Hart's speed has changed that much since he was the fastest player when they actually timed them all in the 60 yard dash back in '07? At the very least, I doubt Weeks after an ankle sprain would be faster than Hart.
  9. I think two of the posters on Brewerscubs.com found her on Facebook and became friends with her. They said they debate baseball with her all the time but she doesn't really know much about sports.
  10. The difference is that Gamel seems like he has decent fielding instincts, Braun never did and still doesn't. Gamel can field but can't throw. Braun really couldn't field well or throw. I'm pretty sure Gamel has an above average arm and his footwork was the problem with his throwing errors.
  11. To be fair, Gamel was an average MLB player in his bench role before his small sample this season. But I agree with the point you are making, I just get flustered when people always talk about how Gamel "failed" or whatever in his MLB chance.
  12. Chad Petty, Noochie Varner, Wes Obemueller, Alejandro Machado, Greg Bruso, Mike Crudale, Overbay, Cappy, Moeller, De La Rosa, Villanueva, Glenn Woolard, ect. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/11/gm-trade-histor.html Here is the whole list. Its way too long to type here.Almost all those trades were before this team was competitive. Since they have become a playoff contender he has definitely not been one to trade for prospects. Even the Carlos Lee trade was for major leaguers. Then shouldn't your post have been "what prospects have we traded for since we have been competitive?" The original premise of my post was that I don't think you can say DM is good at trading away prospects who wont do much and that in his time here he has typically traded for prospects. It seems like you are disagreeing with this but I can't really tell why or what you are disputing.
  13. What prospects have we traded for since DM became GM?Chad Petty, Noochie Varner, Wes Obemueller, Alejandro Machado, Greg Bruso, Mike Crudale, Overbay, Cappy, Moeller, De La Rosa, Villanueva, Glenn Woolard, ect. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/11/gm-trade-histor.html Here is the whole list. Its way too long to type here.
  14. I agree with the premise but to be fair DM has typically traded for prospects in his tenure here as opposed to trading them away. And when he has traded prospects, the other team has often had their pick of several players instead of Doug shipping off the ones he knows won't be stars.
  15. Pics or it didn't happen.
  16. Wow, love reading his stuff on Fangraphs. Best of luck to him.
  17. I noticed McGehees UZR a while back. The sad thing is that as bad as his War has been, it's being "proped up" by a small sample of defense.
  18. Thats just completely false. Projected for a full season in 2009, he would have been around 3.5 WAR, which wouldn't have even been Brewer team MVP. Hell, you want to project 2009 Brewers numbers over a full season and Counsell would have ended up ahead of McGehee at 4.1 WAR. In short, he doesn't deserve star treatment. He had a few seasons playing above what his minor league numbers indicated he was capable of on offense while still being terrible on defense. JJ Hardy had less of a leash and he had defense and a history to fall back on.
  19. Who? You've never heard of the Fugees?
  20. More than that, I always thought their voices sounded a lot alike.
  21. She had quite a voice but as others have said this isn't exactly shocking.
  22. Yes, my site almost exclusivly prints one offs. We don't screen print though singles though, we use a direct to garment printer. It looks just as good as a screen but it more expensive, so for large orders we go to a screen. I'm headed out of town this weekend but send me an email at info@theshirtalert.com and I can get you more details.
  23. I also screen print but for local orders Ross is probably cheaper and more convenient. I've ordered some of his shirts and they are great quality. Still, if you want a quote send us an email at info@theshirtalert.com. I'd be happy to help with the printing and if you need a design.
  24. I have no desire to get into a WAR or FIP debate. I just wanted to point out that I didn't say that what you wrote here at all. I am saying there are factors outside of the pitchers control that have helped Wolf more than Grenkie and I don't think he should be looked at better in our eyes because of that.
  25. Wolf's LOB% has really helped his ERA. You can argue that he performed better in tight spots than Grenkie has, but over his career that isn't true. Over time he should come back to his norms. Thats an additional reason why WAR, FIP, and xFIP indicate that Grenkie has done more for his team than Wolf. Either way, I don't see the point in telling other people what to think in a condescending way. From the sound of it you lack a clear understanding of the statistics you are bashing and have no intention or desire to do any further research. That isn't a very good way to convince someone. EDIT: Actually his LOB% has come back to earth a little bit. Should have pulled up the stats before I posted instead of after. The rest of my points still stand though.
