He's had one good season offensively in the last four years with an OPS+ over 100. I sure hope he's not the primary DH. Maybe against LHP if Yelich needs a day off. -
This is exactly it. If you want to improve at SS, even if these guys are available, here's what you have to pay: Seager - 8 yrs, ~$32M/year Lindor - 8 yrs, $34M/year Witt - 11 yrs, $288M Swanson - 6 yrs, $26M/year Henderson - empty the farm Bogaerts - 10 yrs, $25M/year Bichette - empty the farm Turner - 10 yrs, $27M/year McLain - empty the farm Correa - 5 yrs, ~$33M/year (if he's even any better at the plate) It's either empty the farm or take on significant long-term financial risk (plus prospects), and few of these guys are even going to be available. Compared to what you have to give up or pay for those guys, Adames is worth much more than a comp pick.

The thing with a 6-man rotation is balancing the workload with a shorter pen. Can only have max of 13 pitchers which leaves seven relievers instead of eight. Will need relievers who can go multi-innings. Going to have to do the AAA shuttle as much as possible with the 5-send down limit. Three off days the first 8 days of the regular season, then 13 in a row with one day off then another 13 in a row with one day off and then another 13 in a row. Can likely keep an 8-man bullpen for only the first 10-12 days of the season. If they can only keep seven relievers after the first week or two, then assuming: Peralta/Miley/Rea/Ross/Hall/Ashby/Gasser are the starters, Williams/Milner/Payamps/Megill/Peguero/Wilson/Uribe are their top seven relievers, that means only one lefty in the pen and one of Hall/Ashby/Gasser is the 6th starter/swingman. Even if Gasser doesn't break camp with the big league team, he will likely need to pick up 12-15 starts to keep Hall & Ashby's innings down. I would also not be surprised to see a SP acquisition in July to address innings limits.

Wouldn't it be something if the Brewers took Burnes' $15M salary and signed Bauer with that? Replacing Burnes with someone who was arguably almost as good as Burnes in 2020/2021 AND getting Hall and Ortiz? Matt Arnold, executive of the decade.

As history has shown time and time again, this may not be the last deal. They could easily flip prospects for a starter to replace Burnes. They just knew that Burnes was going to be gone after the season. It was either one season of Burnes + a comp pick, or Burnes for a comp pick + Ortiz + Hall.

Ortiz could play 2B or 3B. Not unrealistic to think that Turang gets sent down to work on hitting or that Black gets sent down to work on defense.

Right now and up until about a week before the draft, pretty much everything that comes out is going to be or have clickbait in one form or another. They're all going to have some hot takes on some players who are deliberately ranked well above or well below where they should be just to generate clicks and discussion. They'll make changes every couple of weeks to generate new content and rarely will it be based on new information (except for the combine, if they even participate in any events, or their pro day). Case in point - Daniel Jeremiah's initial top 50. Kool-Aid McKinstry at #36? "Concerns about deep speed"... really? That's why everybody threw at Terrion Arnold (79 targets in 2023) and not him (39 targets)? Even if he runs >4.50 he has length and ideal size (6'1", 195).

A very uninspiring men's rumble. Not because Cody won, but there just wasn't an inspiring roster. Kofi must finally be showing his age and not even attempt any back-into-the-ring gymnastics. Would have been more interesting if McIntyre had a more believable build-up to actually be a credible threat. And why have the universal heavyweight championship before Owens-Paul?

It was only one year, but Staley’s defense was the best in the league in both points and yards allowed, featuring the top pass defense by net yards per attempt and the third-best in yards per rush. Both pass defense and rush defense. The Packers have a front four of Clark, Wyatt, Gary, and Van Ness... that's kind of deep in the front, isn't it? Plus they have Alexander, who can't be much of a step down from Ramsey, and Walker at ILB. What did that get them? The reason Barry was fired was because the Packers have all that talent and underperformed. Staley had talent on his defense, but they didn't underperform - they were literally the best in the league. They literally couldn't be any better. That's what you want in a coach.

In most instances, but not this. He took the role on Bielema's staff because he knew Bielema and thus would have the flexibility to get the hip surgery he needed without having to deal with the rigors of being a DC. He didn't interview for any other DC roles; it was either UW HC position or get surgery. FWIW, Leonhard didn't interview well with Mac. Spent too much time talking about what he would keep the same, not enough time talking about what he would (and needed to) change.

Biggest news is moving RAW to Netflix in 2025, premium live events in 2026 (I believe Peacock has contractual rights to PLE's through 2025). While Netflix may be in more homes than cable now, I don't think it's a good move to have one brand on subscription streaming and another brand on packaged TV (technically YouTube TV is streaming, not "cable", so I call bundled TV channel purchasing "packaged TV"). You're asking your fanbase to have both and spend incrementally on TV in order to watch both brands. Not a good idea. I think that WWE fans have more overlap with sports fans than cable-cutters, thus if push comes to shove they will keep their packaged TV plan so that they can watch their sports teams and Smackdown and forego RAW/Netflix. Only about 1/3rd of households have both "cable" and streaming (all streaming, not just Netflix). Their young fanbase (under 16) will likely force parents to get both, but I think they're going to see a dropoff in combined engagement with both brands in their 18+ fanbase.

He has 10 years of experience playing in a pro defense. You don't think after 10 years in the league, as smart as he is, that he doesn't know how to run a defense? He was an undersized UDFA who stayed in the league for a decade - you don't do that without knowing pro defense inside and out. He knows Rex Ryan's defense so well that he brought it to Madison; he wasn't piggy-backing off of Aranda.
