  1. The run differential stat is important but how does that stat look since June? The Cubs have given up 180 runs while the Brewers have given up 179. The Cubs have scored 199 runs while the Brews have scored 232. The Cubs differential is +19 while the Brewers is +53. That is a lead of +34 over the past two months. So, while the Cubs have been better over the course of the season according to run differential the Brewers have been much better as of late. Right now the stats would say the Brewers are the better team, at least over the past two months.
  2. Inman is averaging under five innings per start this year. 21 starts and 103.2 innings pitched. That just is not getting it done. It would be one thing if they were trying to limit his innings or something but his pitch count is always pretty high by then. It may be why people are projecting his as a reliever, although fly-ball pitchers who have a tendency to walk guys are not really the greatest late inning guys. He could just be in a rough patch but there definitely are some red flags with him right now.
  3. Theriot batting .280 is not better than what we have. Hardy's numbers are much better than Theriot's if Theriot's average starts to fall. Hardy has good power, and as a SS a much better arm.
  4. It would make sense that more would be added than just Ford for Durham, but I would think adding Hammond would mean the Brewers are getting something else back too. I would love for this to be a bigger deal where we get Matt Cain, but that wont happen.
  5. I wonder if there is some sort of time table, because 4 players really seems to handcuff the Brewers in other trades they could try.
  6. Dark Knight in my mind is the best superhero movie I have ever watched and I am really picky about movies. Heath Ledger is amazing but really so is every other character. Dark Knights rating was 9.6 out of 10 on IMDB which is insanely high, so it does not just come highly recommended from me but from a lot of other people. I really enjoyed Batman Begins but this movie is on another level to me. There was a lot of action and I am not usually an action guy but it was done so well. There is a scene with a pencil that is just crazy. I wont share any details because I dont want to spoil anything but the film was really well done.
  7. How has Stetter struggled lately? In his last 10 innings he has allowed 8 base runners (4 hits, 4 BB), 2 runs, and had 12 K's. I like bringing Pena up but Mota is the one who needs to be sent down or I guess DFA.
  8. Do you have something personally against Braun, that he is a D for effort and an F for other things yet Fielder gets a B and a C. Braun has a better OPS, is not near the butcher in the field and while Fielder does work more, just over double the times, Braun has more home runs, RBI's, strikeout per at bat are similar and Braun has been much better with RISP. This is where walks are valued too much. Yes Braun would be a lot better if he walked more but to give him an F just does not make sense. While Prince is two full letter grades ahead of him in both rankings yet doing worse at the plate and in the field.
  9. I went to Eau Claire and graduated almost 3 years ago (my GPA and ACT scores were similar to yours). I loved the college and you get used to the hill. Don't put a ton of stock into the college rankings because they change so much at least amongst state schools. When I was in college Eau Claire was the highest ranked state school outside of Madison. I think it really does depend on the major you pick. I liked Eau Claire because they are strong in a lot of different fields so there were a lot of good majors to choose from. If you are looking to go into government work I know a good amount of people who were political science majors or other things close to that there. As for the club team they were actually really good while I was there. They had a down year but one year they made the club team equivalent of the College World Series. I knew some guys on the team and they took it seriously for a club sport. I like Eau Claire a lot as a city too. You are close to a lot of things to do with the Twin Cities an hour and a half away and Madison not that far either. I live in Eau Claire now after graduating and I love it here. If you live close to Point it seems like a good distance from home as well although I went to a college 30 miles from home and it was good.
  10. It says in there that Anundsen was drafted in the 4th round last year but he was actually drafted in 2006. He pitched 12 games in low Rookie ball that year. It is encouraging to see how his numbers are increasing as he moves up the organizational ladder.
  11. That would be a terrible trade for San Fran. I am not sure who else I think we would need to give up but I am sure they would want a lot more than weeks. There is probably a reason why there is no link for this.
  12. Can I ask why you think that? His numbers and coaches praise for him seem to suggest other-wise.
  13. Not to get lost in the other nice outings by the likes of Odorizzi and Cody, Lucas Luetge with a nice line tonight 5 IP, 3K, 1H, 0BB. He is an intriguing prospect being a lefty pitcher. He is a later round pick that could make people take notice.
  14. I would rather give up Green or Brantley before Lucroy.
  15. I don't think you have to be a "Melvinite" to question Inman's future as a pro. John Sheenan's comments about him echo a couple other scouts assessments of Inman. I remember one saying back of the rotation kind of guy and another saying he would have to be a reliever. I could see either after watching him. I was surprised with how many breaking balls he threw. He located them very well, but he has seemed to struggle with that this year at times. He gets high pitch counts and has struggled to make it past five innings, so while he puts up very good numbers he does have some things that look to maybe limit him in the future. Obviously, he could figure all that out and become a great major leaguer but I just wanted to point out you don't have to love Melvin to question Inman's future.
  16. I completely agree with this statement. Whoever, is saying Hall is a good baserunner is simply wrong. He is faster than Branyan but in no way a better base runner. It isn't like we are going to steal bases with either of them out there. Look at Bill Hall stealing bases the last three years, he actually has been caught more than he has stolen 15 to 19. Also just to counteract the "all Branyan does is strikeout group" Bill Hall has K'ed 74 times in 290 plate appearances. Branyan has K'ed 37 in 121 PA's. 26% to 31%. That is a difference but lets not act like Bill Hall is a good contact guy. I think the platoon is working and there is no need to switch. I say let Hall get some at-bats vs RHP but there is no reason to stop hitting Branyan. The fielding is also not as big of issue as people make it. Hall has better range but Branyan seems to make the routine plays more often. Hall has somewhere near 17 errors this year and I know you can't just look at errors but they do tell you something.
  17. Inman threw a ton of off-speed stuff. I did not see what the gun said for his fastball speed. It was interesting that Melvin said that he asked if Gamel would be able to stay at 3rd every two weeks. He might have meant he just asked about Gamel's defense, but it was interesting.
  18. I think that is about right, but I would take 3-4 run over 5-6 IP against about anyone. 3 runs over 6 is decent, but the 4 runs in 5 innings is great. I am intrigued by what is wrong with Bailey this year and if it is something that is an easy fix. He was supposed better than Yo, but he just has not shown it and has regressed a lot this year. Hopefully today is not the day he finds his stuff. If he does the Reds are going to be really tough with Volquez, Cueto, Harang, and Bailey over the next few years.
  19. If a lefty is going to face righties i choose Stetter right now. Righties are not hitting well against him at all.
  20. That is what I was thinking too. Obviously, it was one dig, but it has been hard watching Prince out there this year. It seems like if he does dig it out it is a great play, but I dont expect him too. I am probably way too hard on Prince.
  21. LaPorta had a single and has made some nice plays at first. I dont think Gamel has had a ball hit to him.
  22. Bailey has struggled to throw strikes, that is why his numbers are rough. He has not been good this year in the majors or the minors. He is getting hit and walking guys. If he can get his location down or if the Brewers chase (which is a definite possibility) then he will have a good day. His 4.4 ERA with a WHIP around 1.4 in AAA shows he is struggling this year.
  23. LaPorta had a really nice dig playing 1st on a DP attempt. World takes a 1-0 lead. Gamel will bat in the bottom half Edit - Gamel gets a four pitch walk
  24. Another question is why isn't he (Fryer) catching more often? That seems to be where his value would be highest.
  25. I would guess Parra has around 12 starts left (that is if he averages between 6 to 7 innings). He would only need to skip a handful of starts to be able to finish off the year. I agree with And That it would be better to do it early rather than late. If McClung and Bush are both pitching well when Soup comes back give Manny 3 or 4 starts off. He will then be good to go later in the year. If McClung or Bush really start to struggle than I would say keep going with Parra and then late in the year when we have a couple days off we could skip his spot.
