  1. Listen very carefully for the banging of garbage cans... Someone will try to come up with some type of system. By "instant" is it 1 second, 2 seconds? I think it will be somewhat fluid. 1 second doesn't allow a "garbage can" type of indicator while 2 seconds might. The best solution would be to have it be automatic. That takes out the human element, though. This is a good step in the right direction with is to keep the human element in place, but use the technology that is available.
  2. Strictly as an FYI: Here are the fangraphs numbers for the Brewers at Shortstop sorted by DRS. There are some other numbers on there, too. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?lg=all&season=2025&season1=2025&ind=0&stats=fld&pos=ss&type=1&sortcol=12&sortdir=default&pageitems=2000000000&qual=0&team=23
  3. I think the drop off defensively would be more of a detriment. Ortiz's range (overall) is at 98% (scored as a 13) according to Statcast. He excels at coming in on the ball. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/joey-ortiz-687401?stats=statcast-r-fielding-mlb#statcast-fielding-run-value Monasterio's range (overall) looks to be 50, but he doesn't qualify from what it looks like. His score is a 1 (and also a 1 at SS). https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/andruw-monasterio-655316?stats=statcast-r-fielding-mlb#statcast-fielding-run-value I have seen Monasterio in person play at short and miss balls that Ortiz would have been able to get. Yes, Ortiz continually pops up or strikes out when the bases are loaded, but I would (begrudgingly) be more comfortable with that than having hard balls get by Monasterio at short. An imperfect world, for sure. Maybe Sal and Brice can work with Joey in the off season.
  4. I guess Ben Oglive had three homers a day after he got trashed the night before. Members of the tam took him out to Cesar's because he was in a slump. I wonder how many Brewers have a hangover...
  5. Badger volleyball beat #15 Florida. Does that help? 😉
  6. Very cool story. Love the kid with the Ketchup at the 2:13 mark.
  7. I'm don't know, but when you don't show up when a recruit is coming in, that is bad. I don't care if the recruiting group was in a mess or not. https://www.outkick.com/sports/embarrassing-report-paints-unflattering-picture-of-paul-chrysts-recruiting-at-wisconsin This was one of the main reasons why I knew Chryst had checked out. As far as Fickell -- I simply don't think he is a good leader. I'm not sure how he got things to pan out in Cincinnati, but I don't see players on the team willing to go to bat for much of anything. When the Badgers scored at the end of the game against Maryland, I would have liked him to at least clap his hands and use that as a motivation for the bye week. Heck, at the end of the Alabama game, why not work hard at the end and try to score. Instead, it was lolly-gag fest. That is on the coach. During Fickell's first year, we sat in the 15th row behind the Badger bench against Buffalo. The offensive line was terrible -- poor fundamentals and stupid penalties. Finally after they pooped the bed to start the second half, one of the coaches got in the face of the offensive line. Then, they played well. I'm not sold that another year or two is going to solve anything because Fickell needs to be a head coach. He needs to lead the men who are on the team and also the coaches that are working with them. Perhaps there is some mentoring. I think I know why Ohio State didn't choose him as their coach.
  8. Mike McCarthy? https://www.si.com/college/wisconsin/football/chris-mcintosh-and-mike-mccarthy-sighting-ignites-wisconsin-badgers-fans-speculation
  9. Maybe they had a bunch of "Average Joes?" 😉 I'll bet that this is what people say about the Brewers. The only difference is the Brewers aren't struggling down the stretch like the Tigers.
  10. The last AD for Wisconsin was a football guy whose profession was a football coach. The current AD was a football guy who was a realtor. I do have to give McIntosh credit, though -- he hired Mike Hastings for the hockey team and has kept Gard and Sheffield around.
  11. At least McIntosh will have some really cool shiny new buildings, right?
  12. November 25, 1989. It was after thanksgiving and there seemed to be nobody in the stands. Lost 31-3. My penultimate year in the band... They flat out sucked that year.
  13. I understand having a hot hitter on the roster such as Vaughn. However, thinking of the college scenario, would you like to have a Senior available or a Freshman? I think there might be something else going on that we are not privy to. I think Hoskins is a good player and a class guy. He won't be back next year, though.
  14. No, he will try to take your money. For real...
  15. Play like you give a crap. That is what I want to see. Last week at the end of the game vs. Alabama, the Badgers were nonchalant. I looked at Villanova against Penn State and Villanova scored with no time left for their first score of the game. The final of that game: 52-6. Fickell is the one who sets the emotion for the team. Show me a team that wants to claw, fight, and play for the name on the front of the jersey -- not the one on the back.
  16. That is a good point. That reminds me of Jeff Hafley, the Defensive Coordinator with the Packers. I don't think Hafley was half-arsing it, but I think he had enough of the trans-sham-mockery college football has become.
  17. The thing I found interesting is the game opened with Wisconsin at -7.5. I was shocked it moved. I would like to see the offensive line do a lot more. They need to open up holes for the running backs. Although the Badgers lost last week, there were some signs that the passing game was improving. Unless you can run the ball, the Badgers will be in for a long season. On Wis!
  18. It is probably because the Cubs have a higher percentage of Clinching a Wild Card. Boy... the Brewers stink...
  19. I would like to see more from Gasser before he is on the Postseason roster.
