  1. Wonder if he'll cross the river to the MLB Network. Or maybe he just needs more time for his next album.
  2. How come this wasn't addressed in October?
  3. My furnace is 32 years old and is still keeping my home nice and toasty with no insulation and the thermostat set to 66. It's gonna be a sad day for my bank account when it finally decides to kick the bucket.
  4. There's probably great stuff out there but I think I lost the ability to absorb any more new music back in 2004. My music collection is absolutely out of hand and I've been to hundreds (maybe thousands) of shows. I just can't do it anymore. That said, I did like the first two songs on the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs. And the new Green Day is rotten. They really need to put the eyeliner down and quit the rock opera schtick. I was able to predict almost every song on that record. Start off with a lo-fi intro and then crank the entire band in with about 18 more guitars. They really should just retire and spend the mad cash they've made, or go back to writing really catchy/simple songs and stop trying to change the world.
  5. Starbucks Barnes & Noble
  6. I've actually watched both flicks on Turner Classic Movies. Still waiting for KKII and the Peter Cetera ballad. "We do not honor bet with coward."
  7. When I worked in printing a varnish coat was used to make things glossy and to protect. Not sure if you can get a spray can of that stuff or not.
  8. I agree with endaround on this one. We're not gonna have to mortgage everything to get him. And I think we could make it happen without giving up Gamel. A package starting with Gallardo just seems insane to me. Toronto holding onto Halladay last year has depleted his value. They didn't get what they thought he was worth and the Phillies got Cliff Lee at a much cheaper price and got Halladayesque results. Not to mention that they're paying Cliff Lee a whole lot less. Now Halladay only has one year left on his contract with a no-trade clause. He also costs more than Lee. I don't really see anyone ponying up much more talent than what was received in the Lee deal. I think Lawrie/Salome/Scarpetta could totally get this deal done. That is if Toronto has come back to reality.
  9. I don't know if the Padres are gonna be willing to part with their stud pitching prospect. One guy that intrigues me that the Padres might be willing to move would be Tim Stauffer. He was the #4 overall pick in 2003 I think. He's 27 now and looks like he finally might be ready for the big show. Young is a bit intriguing too. Although his numbers are terrible the past two years. It'd be great if he could get back to where he was in 2007. But there is no way I'd be trading Gamel or Weeks for either of these guys. McGehee maybe.
  10. Starts in an hour. Tune in if your hanging at home tonight.
  11. That's the dude.
  12. Didn't we get Butler from the Tigers a year or two ago?
  13. My friend scored tickets on ebay for the his last show at the BC dirt cheap the day of the concert. You might get lucky if you don't get tix earlier than that. Second best concert I've ever been to next to the Who.
  14. The reason it's difficult to pay Lackey $16 for 2010 is because the Brewers backloaded the contracts of Suppan and Hall. I never understood the concept of backloading. I'd rather just keep the salaries the same each year.
  15. That Zito contract is just so horrible that it's really hard to wrap my brain around what the Giants would have to give up to make a fair trade.
  16. Nice. I've got a 12 pack left of Pepsi Throwback. That should get me through the time it takes for it to be available again. I thought is was gonna be gone for good so I stocked up what I could find when I heard they stopped making it. Anyone try the Dew Throwback? I'm not a Dew drinker, but I really love Sun Drop in the glass bottles. I'd probably weigh in at 200 pounds if that stuff was easy to get. That's the only caffeinated beverage I've ever had that will keep me awake and alert.
  17. I'd take a flyer on Wang. A healthy Wang is a very special thing.
  18. Suppan for Zito, $50,000,000, & 2 A-ball pitchers? This should probably be in blue.
  19. Yeah Capps is trash. Harang would have been a great pickup as the 2nd acquired SP this year. But it would be even more difficult to find a way to get that #1 or #2 starter by taking on Harang's contract and having to fill CF or retaining Cameron. If I was in Melvin's shoes I probably would have made the deal for Harang just because I think he's better than his stats show. He'd essentially be a 1 year rental anyway. 12.75 million this year? And then I think the 2011 year is a mutual option for 14 million with a 2 million buyout. Considering we wouldn't bring him back for 2011, we'd pretty much be paying him 15 million for one year. The Reds would have to throw in a good chunk of cash to make that deal worth it.
  20. Yeah. I think we have to offer Lopez. If he accepts, at least we have a great option at 2B if Weeks shows he isn't ready or gets hurt again. It'd be a really nice thing to have an agreement to offer Cameron and have him reject it. But even if he did accept, it wouldn't be the end of the world. We could then send Gomez down to AAA and give him some much needed time to work on his hitting. I'd imagine he still has some options left. And then we could trade Cameron mid season if the opportunity is there. But that for sure would hurt our ability to get an ace SP.
  21. I'm a little bit curious as to what effect playing in the Metrodome has had on Gomez's offense numbers. What does his road numbers look like? Will playing in Milwaukee help utilize his speed even more? Initially I really didn't like the trade but I am willing to give Melvin the benefit of the doubt and see how this fits in the entire offseason. Personally I probably would have taken the Michael Bowden offer instead if the rumors are true. The way I'm trying judge this trade is this: Defensively we have improved at both SS and CF. Offensively Hardy's 2009 will be replaced with Gomez. Gomez has less power but more speed. Hopefully he can get the OBP up a bit. Cameron's 2009 will be replaced with Escobar. Escobar has much less power but more speed as well. But hopefully some of the lost power will be made up at Catcher, 3B, LF & 2B. I also like that these guys are young with a ton of upside that hopefully will flourish in the years to come. Add in the salary we saved, we have a lot of room to acquire some good SP. Or use some of it to lock up Fielder and/or Gallardo long term.
  22. From what I've read, they're gonna miss Gomez more than I thought they would. Sounds like he's a real high energy guy. And they're a bit cautious on Hardy. They're seeing him as a minor upgrade for now. At least that's what I've read so far.
  23. So for all the MLPS tweeners, who is the hottest Twin? Mauer or Hardy?
  24. Please let the day end by us picking up Looper's option and signing Washburn to a six year deal.
