    I mean I get you don't want Black to sit and platoon stuff but why are we carrying 2 bat only backup catchers if they are not going to get a chance to DH over a guy who is hardly forcing himself up in AAA?

    Do people just ignore the AL West? That is a bad division. The NL Central isn't worse than the AL East or the NL West. The Marlins and Rockies both count as MLB teams.

    Biggio is an actual infielder and the Brewer's infielders right now are a huge issue

    This is almost certainly a front office dictate. The Brewers don't want most of their starters going 3 times through an order. The bigger issue is the Milner has become super hittable and should not be counted on.

    That is just not true. Frelick is a fine starting CFer. He has a slightly below average bat and a decent glove for CF. Now the Brewers have two guys (when healthy) who are better than Frelick in Perkins and Mitchell so on the Brewers Frelick is just depth. I was always dubious that Frelick could walk enough and hit enough without any power to play in MLB but he has so far.

    The reason Junis was included was to balance out salaries. The Brewers were sending money to the Reds I think?

    It has nothing to do with his hitting (which isn't really much better than the other options), it has to do with him being a terrible fielder.

    Turang's baserunning isn't accounted for in OPS. Not saying that is enough to say he should be abtting 1st, but it is a significant part of his offensive game that should eb planned around.

    I think both Efflin and Littell are available from the Rays. They will be traded now or in the offseason with 1 year left on both. Efflin is obviously more interesting, but both would be solid upgrades.

    The Brewers don't want to open at home. Take it up with them.

    Domingo German has opted out from Pittsburgh. He's not great but was close to league average last year and would fill in as a decent gap starter.

    You have to be careful with Bauers WAR because of his weird outfield splits. Basically all his hitting has come playing as an OFer. His splits are 79 wRC+ at 1b, 192 in LF and 237 in RF. His broken down WAR total may be really weird especially since he is terrible defensively in the outfield. His wRC+ overall is likely in line making him like a Ty France without a past showing he can hit. My guess is France does not get offered arbitration at season end and gets like 1 year $5 million contract somewhere. So that puts Bauers value at maybe $2m?

    Unable to see the game, did they really intentionally walk the bases full? Or was there a missed steal?

    Tell it to the Brewers. Ortiz is not a qualified hitter. Ortiz has been in 65 games but is only getting 3.5 PAs per game. Turang is getting 3.9 and Adames 4.3. And Monasterio can play 3B but is right handed so less reason/excuse to put him in over Ortiz in a game situation.

    Is Black coming up a sign that the Brewers believe that Ortiz is fully ready to play full time? Because while Black is likely a bit better hitter than Dunn, Dunn can actually play 3B. The other thing that could happen is that Black becomes a Bauer replacement but this still limits the bench flexibility.

    No it means that he is a real Brewer fan and doesn't give a crap about the Cubs like some Johnny -Come-Lately. What you care about are the White Sox where any game could end up with Phil Garner rushing the field to throw down.

    Frelick has had severe issues with hitting left handed pitching at multiple levels. Mitchell has not. Not sure why everyone is platooning Mitchell.
