  1. I guess I should say my overall opinion. I'd rather have Pavano or Penny on one year deals however that was unlikely but this much better than Washburn, Davis, or Garland. If you bring in Smoltz on a one year deal this would be great.
  2. There is no room for another reliever so I don't know where that is coming from. The bullpen consists of Hoffman, Stetter, Coffey, Villaneuava, Vargas, and one of Suppan/Narveson. That leaves one spot that can be filled internally. I don't think the Brewers will get offered anything of value for Hart so I don't think he'll be going anywhere.
  3. Because Vasquez would cost a heck of a lot to get and the Braves don't want to move him. They want to move Lowe or Kawakami.
  4. It depends on the choice. Some have huge consequences. I finished a rogue human playthrough at about 80 hours.
  5. Really? I thought everyone with a digital package got it since MLB gives it away to carriers.
  6. Reading the press release it doesn't emntion retiring and its open. so it looks like he got a gig somewhere else and that would most likely be mlbtv.
  7. Kennedy could do somethign but he's a RH pitcher who has a sub 90 mph fastball. Edwin Jackson isn't as good as his ERA last says he was.
  8. He doesn't like it because it includes HRs as part of the pitchers talent instead of ignoring them like xFIP does.
  9. Yep Kennedy was injured and isn't that good to begin with. The DBacks got taken big time.
  10. No the Nationals are confusing. They are trading their Rule 5 pick in order to pay a relief pitcher with a 4.68 FIP 2m. And they released a pitcher with a 3.95 FIP to make room for him.
  11. The problem is moving Hart moves the one palyer that has a deent chance to give you an offensive upgrade over last year. Catcher will likely improve but 1B at best is a constant, 2B is a fall off, SS is a fall off (including Counsell here), 3B is a likely fall off, CF is a fall off and LF is constant at best. Byrd after having a crappy year in Texas isn't a good choice for a break out.
  12. Kind of crappy the Brewers are nontendering him. It won't save much money but it will kill DiFelice's pension (service time for FA isn't a real issue here)
  13. The benefit of Pierre is it puts Gomez in AAA where he really should be. An extra year of Gomez would be worth it assuming salaries are evened out.
  14. And I don't see a log jam. Lucroy can use time at AAA. Salome needs to show he can actually stay healthy. Put Lucroy in AAA for half a season, Salome in AA for half a season and come June see where Zaun and Kotteras are. Yes this means Rivera is likely gone.
  15. $9m=average starter pay. So yeah he'll fall back but he still won't be a drain. If he was getting 12-14 you'd have a point but he isn't.
  16. How is getting paid as a 2-3 win player after a 6 win season mean that?
  17. Parra is this years "Edwin Jackson" that everyone wants to trade for. I'll be very, very surprised if the Jays get one one those three pitchers. Halladay is looking to bring in a Santana type return not a blockbuster rebuild.
  18. Heether projects better than Rivera and can actually play the field. And McGehee could easily find himself back on the bench. Kottaras can backup Zaun if they want Lucroy in AAA. Rivera just doesn't hit well enough to turn him into basically a bench DH.
  19. Yes if we all keep pretending that Soriano wasn't the guy who completely killed the team everything will be ok!
  20. I see no way the Royals would want a Hart/Dejesus swap
  21. Not Zito but more AJ Burnett or Derek Lowe.
  22. Lopez's past salaries have no bearing on FA arbitration cases. Its all about comparables. Lopez put up a season comparable to Brian Roberts who just signed for $10m per last offseason. And going to arby versus Boras for a guy who you have penciled in as a backup?
  23. Lopez isn't an arbitration controlled player, he's a FA arbitration case. He could have easily gotten $8m in arbitration and for a player who's quit on teams before hard to say if he'll get something like that in FA. Those who wanted to trade him seem to forget the Brewers got him for nothing despite him playing well for the DBacks.
  24. The Globe is terrible when it comes to trade rumors. They seem to run with anything.
  25. Gerut and a RHed 5th Ofer. That said the Marlins are unlikely to want Gomez since he already is in arbitration (one of the reasons I dislike the Hardy deal).
