  1. Theer is zero downside for trading Counsell. MI is one area the Brewers have loads of depth and Counsell will likely be willing to resign with Milwaukee anyway.
  2. Rolen's contract isn't bloated but it is on the high side for a guy with his injury concerns. You can only expect 120 games a year from him and he could easily miss half a season.
  3. Keep in mind the only players they could sell and would have trouble getting through waivers are Counsell and perhaps Lopez so its not like 3 pm means then end of trades.
  4. Gamel's terrible hitting in Milwaukee=Escobar's wonderful hitting in AAA
  5. I'm not saying I wouldn't like Bailey, just that at this point he isn't a guy to give up two top prospects for. Hardy for Bailey plus would work for example but my guess is Cincy is looking to cut salary.
  6. Except he isn't. Hughes had excellent control in AAA. Bailey has only shown control to some extent this year.
  7. Looper likely won't bring a pick because of his option. Its changed but it used to be if you decline an option you forgo being able to offer arby and outright the player. Looper is replacement level and is nowhere near worth what he'd get in arby even if the Brewers could offer it to him. I guess I'm less worried about Kendall coming back than most. The Brewers dumped Damian Miller despite being cheaper when he had his really bad last season.
  8. What is with the Bailey love? I just don't get it. Harang would be a decent add. The idea that salary concerns are at issue screams false rumour though.
  9. Except Salome/Lucroy aren't likely to be ready next year
  10. Hall was moved now because he agreed to it now. For all we know he asked for it.
  11. Pineiro is not playing over his head though. Pineiro is just getting lucky in terms of his BABIP being so low right now but that is still near his career norms in terms of BABIP being only .016 away from his career BABIP numbers. Pineiro is a fourish ERA pitcher with a career FIP of 4.24 I believe Pineiro would be a good #4 starter for the Brewers if the money is right. Basically that is the only type of player I see the Brewers being able to bring in this off season. It will be either Schmidt or Pineiro and you better pray and hope that it isn't Wellemeyer. Pineiro is most certainly playing above his head. His BB/9 right now is 0.99, for his career its 2.63. If you're paying him at as a 4.5 ERA guy sure, but he's pitching as a sub 3 guy and will likely be paid as such.
  12. Can we stop buying pitchers that Dave Duncan made look good? Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you, fool me three times and I deserve to be fired. This pool is the kind that turns Suppan into a $12m a year pitcher. You have 4 guys with talent but huge injury concerns (Lackey, Escobar, Bedard, and Harden) and two guys playing above their heads (Washburn and Pinero).
  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see either Tianen or Cuspirin turn up at onmilwaukee
  14. This would be more of a finding anyone to pitch the rest of the year trade.
  15. Their pitching and hitting never meshed in the same season. They really have been unlucky. Their pitching was great in 2007 but their offense stunk. In 2008 their offense was on fire but their entire, and I mean entire, pitching staff collapsed.
  16. The Mariners got Snell to replace the departing Washburn, and Bedard most likely, he won't be going anywhere
  17. Well if you go by WPA. He has now passed Pujols so Fielder's has not only hit big but hit well in big spots. OK 4.71 vs 4.64 for Pujols is basically meaningless, but hey its some good news!
  18. The point is he is under contract for next season
  19. Clement isn't a catcher. He isn't playing catcher for the Mariners, he's a DH. He's Brad Nelson without the defensive ability. But X is wrong about one thing, he doesn't turn 25, he turns 26 in 3 weeks.
  20. Based on what? Gamel struggled like most rookies do and he was light years ahead of either Salome or Escobar with the bat. Escobar's mles are0.267 0.305 0.351 and Salome's are 0.244 0.280 0.348.
  21. How was Hardy going to agree to a deal? His first year he was terrible, his second year was missed due to injury and so he broke out his last minimum year. He was already guaranteed arby money going forward at that point there is little incentive for position players to sign long term.
  22. The whole Weeks thing is Rosenthal not having a clue what he's talking about again. If guy isn't on the major league roster he might as well be invisible to Rosenthal
  23. Salome by month: April 0.191 0.298 0.234 May 0.295 0.317 0.426 June 0.315 0.354 0.511 July 0.273 0.327 0.341 One good month in AAA doesn't mean we should waste a year of service time.
  24. Why does Salome deserve a shot? He's struggling mightily with both his bat and his glove. There isn't any reason to believe he'll be any better than a street FA at this point.
  25. Sorry thought Snyder was a FA
