  1. Just giving this a bump since the sale starts Thursday. Anyone who wants a coupon, just shoot me a PM.
  2. Just noticed this when I was looking at the updated standings after sweeping the Nats today. Very impressive for a team that has had it's issues throughout the season. Angels 74-43, .632 winning percentage Rays 71-46, .607 cubs 71-47, .602 Brewers 68-51, .571 Helped greatly by a 23-10 record in 1 run games. sidenote, per MLB.com we were 7th in expected win/loss--goes to show just how gritty of a team we are.
  3. Anyone else think that it was really strange for Mock to pitch that inning on Friday night? I understand that it was his day to throw on the side, but to put a starter in for an inning against a team that he starts against in 3 days seemed awfully strange to me. It's the kind of thing that conspiracy theorists would have a field day with if this was during the last few weeks of the season.
  4. Not trying to get political at all, and I am not a fan of him, but I am actually impressed with Bush being so prevelant at the games. Security there must be absolutely lock down tight with all of the high profile world leaders out and about.
  5. If you don't care about his defense in left, where exactly do you have Braun playing? I thought it was pretty classless, much like Barry overall in my opinion, for him to say most everything that he spewed out.
  6. As some of you know I am the store manager of the Aeropostale clothing store at Mayfair Mall. This Thursday starts our Friends and Family event where anyone can get 30% off every purchase. I have emailable coupons if anyone is interested whether it is for themselves or buying holiday gifts. These coupons can be used at any Aero stores during the 4 days. I ask that if possible, you use them in my store just to boost our sales. If anyone could use the discount just shoot me a PM with your email address, and I will send one your way.
  7. couldn't have been any more truth to it than that
  8. Pujols makes an out on the bases in the top of the 10th!! At least we aren't the only team that does it.
  9. Let's not be greedy. I was thinking about 23 innings today with a rain out tomorrow and 2 20 inning double header games on Sunday.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  10. Yeah, Edmonds has really surprised me with his resurgence in Chicago. he had a .969 OPS coming into the game today and now is 2 for 3 with 2 solo homers to tie the game at 2 in the bottom of the 7th. With the way he has been playing for them and the contributions of Reed Johnson all year, the Cubs are much better at CF than I thought they would be before the year started.
  11. Cardinals up 2-1 through top of the 5th.
  12. Some games of note for the day. Cubs (Lilly) vs Cards (Looper) Phillies ( Blanton) vs Pirates (Mahalom) Mets (Perez) vs Marlins (Nolasco)
  13. Blanco was one of my favorite Brewers ever. For some reason I had a huge man crush on the no-bat, all defense type of player that he was/is. I know taht he plays for the enemy nowadays, but still a favorite. For 3 years in college I actually had the full page picture from the JS up in my room because for some reason, you couldn't actually find a real poster of him. I took enough grief about that picture that my alliegence has to be strong!!
  14. I do actually believe that it isn't really that big of a deal. What I take out of this is a feeling that Braun and JJ are two true leaders on the team. Braun was one of the people initially helping hold back Prince, and looked like he was the first to approach Manny after the incident as well. I was impressed with JJ letting Prince know what he thought of the whole thing as well. I'm not a lip reader, but it looked as though he was saying "What the ____ are you doing?" I don't believe that it's a good thing for the team overall, but maybe it does actually help get some players fired up or at least puts their recent struggles in perspective.
  15. 1. JJ 2. CC 3. YO 4. Braun 5. Kendall
  16. I've seen this idea mentioned several times before but I question if that would really solve the problem. If you have to buy a 4 pack to get a ticket to Cubs games, would a lot of these people just sell the other 3 'regular game' tickets and just keep their Cub tickets? Is this also an issue that people would be up in arms about, or is it only a problem when people decide to sell their tickets to Cub fans? Basically is it really that much worse to sell a ticket to a Cubs fan for 3x face value, or to sell a ticket to a Pirates fan for 1.5x face? Is it actually the practice of selling tickets that people have problems with, or just the fact that it happens more during Cubs games because of the overall number of people willing to spend money to come to Miller Park?
  17. On the other hand, if you can't afford season tickets, but selling 3 games worth against the Cubs allows you to have a 20 game ticket package and you get to see the Brewers play 17 other times doesn't that actually make you a bigger fan? Either you see 0 games or you get to go to 17, which would show more fan-dom? Admittedly, I have absolutely no problem with fans selling their tickets when they can get as much as they can from selling to Cubs fans. I also have no issues with buying tickets from season ticket holders when I travel to other stadiums. We went to 2 games in St Louis last week and I bought both sets of tickets from Cardinals season ticket holders. Does that make me a horrible Brewer and baseball fan, or a better one? I was only able to attend one of the Cubs games, and yes it was hard to deal with all of the Cubs fans, but I still got to watch and cheer for the Brewers. I think some of the people on here that are really having an issue with who was at the game the last few days need to just relax and either try to buy more tickets themselves or try attending Brewer games in other cities. It's tough to be the minority for a change, but just like in baseball--you can't win them all!!!
  18. I agree 100% with this. It would make things easier to buy, sell and trade tickets on here. Allong with any general ticket questions that seem to pop up in various other forums.
  19. Getting ready to head out to the park thanks to a very unfortunate turn of events for a fellow BFneter and really pleading for at least a good showing tonight if not a win. I just don't want to deal with sCrub fans if they put a licking on us again tonight. Thinking of wearing my auto'd Zach Jack Sounds jersey just to remind Manny that it's been just over 13 months since his perfect game.
  20. I don't watch a lot of the summer games, but I'm hoping for some reassurance on here that I am not the only one who seems to have an unhealthy obsession with watching curling in the winter games. It all started a few winter olympics ago in college and during the most recent ones, I found myself going to great lengths to watch curling matches. I have to admit that I even dedicated some DVR space to it. I feel a little better already, having admitted my problem.
  21. new woot off just started!!! If I get a Bag o Crap it would help me forget about the Brewer game tonight.
  22. I actually traded a fellow BF member tickets for a game for the upcoming Cubs series. He had tickets for a game he couldn't attend and I needed extras for the day he had. I never once had any reservations about just mailing out tickets to his address and expecting him to do the same. It was an even trade for a pair of terrace box tickets and everything went perfectly smooth. I guess I just never imagined that anyone on here would actually scam (that's basically what I consider it) another member. I agree that this was an isolated experience and it still doesn't make me cautious of fellow actual Brewer Fans at all. Long Live BF.net!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Overall I was impressed that Dolan wrote the letter. I think it was certainly the right move to make for them, but I would also like to think that I pay a little more attention than most fans to what actually goes into running a baseball team. I have gotten several calls and texts today from old friends in Ohio about how the Brewers totally fleeced the Indians and intially tried to convince them that the trade was actually very good for both sides. After the first few conversations, I decided that for a fan who doesn't understand all of the workings even on a basic level, like dadofandrew stated, it's just to hard to explain to most. For that reason and others, I feel the letter was a good idea just to get some fans off of the ledge.
  24. Here is the email letter that I got from Indians.com today regarding the trade for CC. It sounds a lot like an apology to me, and personally as an closet Indians fan (I lived in Cleveland for a few years) I would rather read more about the upside of LaPorta than the trouble the Indians have run into this year. A LETTER TO INDIANS FANS FROM PAUL DOLAN Dear Fans, Thank you for your many years of loyalty to and support of the Cleveland Indians. Because you are vitally important to the success of the Indians, I want to communicate the thinking behind our recent player personnel decisions, including our decision to trade C.C. Sabathia, directly to you. After keeping the strong nucleus from our 2007 playoff team intact, we all had high expectations entering the 2008 season. Unfortunately, the team did not play up to our expectations and we sustained injuries to key players within our starting lineup and rotation. Due to our team's performance, as well as the significant opportunity to add talent that can impact the short-term and long-term success of the organization, we decided to trade C.C. We did not take our decision to trade C.C. lightly. He has been an integral member of the Indians organization and the Cleveland community for the past eight years. We all shared the pleasure of watching C.C. develop from a young draft pick into a mature team leader and one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball. After re-signing C.C. in 2005 to a contract that extended into what would have been his first two free agent years, we were able to share in and enjoy his 2007 Cy Young Award winning season as a Cleveland Indian, a performance that propelled our club to the AL Central Division Championship. We made extensive attempts to secure C.C.'s future in Cleveland by signing him to a contract extension. In fact, we offered C.C. a top of the market contract that included the highest annual salary in the history of the Indians organization. Unfortunately, due to C.C.'s desire to test the free agent market, we determined that trading C.C. provided the best outcome for the long-term success of the organization. By trading C.C., we capitalized on an opportunity to infuse upper level talent into our organization that can contribute to our on-field success for many years rather than risk losing C.C. for only two draft picks with a distant and uncertain future. We remain enthusiastic about the steps we have taken towards fulfilling our organizational mission to build and sustain a championship-caliber team. Our minor league system served as the catalyst for our 2007 playoff run and continues to develop exciting, young players. We look forward to the opportunity of watching many more young players blossom into Major League stars as Cleveland Indians. We have confidence that the tremendously difficult decision to trade C.C. will enhance our ability to put a winning club on the field to make our loyal fans and the entire Cleveland community proud. On behalf of my family and the entire Cleveland Indians organization, I appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you at a game in the near future. Go Tribe! Sincerely, Paul Dolan
  25. Just to clarify some of how the Indians brass feels about the trade I got an email from them today, I used to live in Cleveland and go to a lot of games so I am on their mailing list, explaining their rationale in trading CC. It's almost kind of a said apology letter to the fans that this year turned the way that it did. It's actually a pretty interesting read and if anyone wants it forwarded to them, just send me a pm. Mods, it's a free email but it is a pretty lengthy letter that I don't want to take up a full page with quoting. If any of you feel that it is appropriate to quote just let me know and I will cut and paste it. Or if there is a website or blog that someone wants me to forward it to them so they can post it just let me know and I can link it in.
