  1. He was already in AAA long enough that 2019 will not count as a full season of MLB service time. The only uncertainty is if he will qualify for Super Two which would mean four trips through Arbys instead of the standard three. I don't believe we will officially know that until the end of the season though. You won't officially know that until the end of 2021.
  2. I can understand them not calling him up but since they are doing it now it was a series too late.
  3. Those early round games take too long to complete but it is great now, get a conference finals game every day from May 14th until they both are over.
  4. What makes August 30th so special? If they wait that long might as well wait until next April and gain the extra year. I think he can help now but if they wait until August 30 then the Brewers have doubts.
  5. There will still be waiver wire pickups, it is just that the team losing the player won't get low level prospect anymore. There will always be high price players dumped in August.
  6. I do think Endgame is peak level but yes Spiderman is very popular and the recent version is well received. Even the animated one did pretty well and was well received.
  7. I imagine Smith is gone either way. They can call up somebody better even if they are not bringing up a batter.
  8. Not his best outing today giving up two doubles a run and a hit bitter in two innings of work. Still great to have him in the organization but there will be speed bumps along the way.
  9. It makes it an easy call to face the Cubs with Hiura against all the lefties and then send him back down. Don't think it will happen but think it should.
  10. Relative to other sports talk he will do fine, nowhere near the audience of B&B. Don't know what kind of expectations they have of him.
  11. A agree that Rasmussen is probably the largest riser. He obviously can pitch, just want him to make it through the year healthy at this point as they appear to have a strict 3IP/50 pitch max with him.
  12. As bad as they were I consider myself a huge fan of 90's Brewers and had no idea who Mike Thomas was. I like how at Baseball Reference there is just a huge question mark where his picture should be. He also holds the Brewers (and major league) record for lowest lifetime ERA.
  13. Yes, that is the far more interesting tidbit, Perdomo is now in AAA.
  14. I agree with both decisions. Would like to see if Aguilar can build on what he did last night and when the clock strikes midnight that is the end of April so might as well play Thames.
  15. Well the funny thing is that person was still wrong. No, the real funny thing is the poster wasn't wrong. The poster never said Braun should be DFA when the post was made. It was at what point would Braun be DFA. Certainly a fair question now, if Braun plays this way all year, is he gone after the season? Maybe. I remember how horrible it was when I was a kid in 1987 seeing Cecil Cooper on the team and not getting any playing time the last two months of his career. At some point the Brewers will have to let go.
  16. Since Petricka can no longer be part of a shuttle maybe Jay Jackson will hop on soon with all his options.
  17. When the time comes and I imagine it will, I wonder if Petricka will agree to the option instead of being DFA since he is always one of the first to get called back up.
  18. I'd guess they planned on a lot DH starts for him but they have that other guy who came out of nowhere who just keeps hitting with the weird last name so they can't take him out of the lineup. Remember when we played Domingo in CF his first late season call up? Braun was probably in RF. Who was left, Davis? Did we really have an OF D of Davis, Santana, Braun? Wow. Yeah, Vogelbach. Kind of hard to take him out of the lineup when he is leading the league in slugging and OPS.
  19. I didn't see anything online but does anyone know why Erceg was taken out of the game after two at bats?
  20. Maybe in 2021. Missing that much time, they're going to be VERY careful. How bout August 2019, so he’s eligible for the playoffs. No, that is real bad roster management.
  21. Swihart is mentioned every year but is pretty bad both offensively and defensively with no options. Still prefer Pina.
  22. I don't know if it matters all that much what he does in the minors anymore as he already has been labeled a AAAA guy by some. He will have to prove it in the majors when he gets his opportunity and that should happen at some point this year since he is already on the 40 man.
  23. No because: #1 You assume Attanasio has any interest selling the team and realizing those gains. All signs point to the opposite. #2 You are inferring/assuming that large valuation increases are due to them spending more and more money...but it is not. The Marlins are cheapos and the worst run franchise in sports....yet they are worth $1 billion. That article actually has a few valuation graphs. One of which shows you the breakdown of where they get their value. The only one that the team really even controls is their "brand". Brewers do an amazing job and the Marlins are terrible building a brand...yet all that hard work gives us a brand value of $100mil while the Marlins sit at $50mil. This would probably be one of those situations where spending a dollar gets you a dime in the long run. Spending money on the payroll is not a long term investment...and as the Marlins showed in years past you can be big cheapos (garnering huge short term profits) and see no hit to the value of the franchise when you decide to sell it. Regarding #2, no I am not, silly to assume that. They could make the business decision that spending more potentially gets them a World Series which could lead to higher current/future income and a higher valuation. There is also risk with that because they could have a high payroll and be out of the playoff picture by July and need to have a huge sell off. There are always various reason why a business owner will/will not spend money.
  24. Most of this stuff from Forbes is educated guesses and that is why they always have an operating profit number and never a net income number because they don't even have a good guess what the other numbers are. A team could have operating income every year but a net loss every year. Highly likely they did have net income last year but just showing the best guess estimated operating income for 20 years doesn't say a whole lot. Do believe a team like the Brewers are worth a billion dollars though and a business owner could possibly justify operating at a loss if they continue to see large valuation increases.
