Ashby's money isn't spent, it is a future commitment that can be passed on to another team. If the Brewers were really trying to shed salary he would be near the top.

Was never a huge fan of Mears so to be able to get age 26-28 of Zerpa in return is a win. I would lean toward Collins never being an overly productive MLB player again so probably selling high on him. However, if the last month and a half was the fluke for Collins and not the other way around then the Royals get a steal.

It's not that complex, Durbin is a 3 WAR players, the Brewers should start 3 WAR players. Even better if they are cheap like Durbin

Prices too high this year. I did think the Chourio baby stroller from clinching a couple of years ago was kind of fun to see but not enough to give $600.

I know that was in blue but their payroll is low even with Buxton and Lopez so even Rosenthal doesn't think they should fret over payroll. Even though Buxton is their second highest paid players, it is still at a very reasonable $15 million for three years. If a team like the Brewers really wanted him they should hold out for a guy like Pena instead of some of the mid level prospects being mentioned. The Brewers are not doing a huge favor by taking Buxton off their hands.

Where is this .118 average? His July and August were still very good though he did struggle in September and into the playoffs.

Would love to see one healthy full season of Mitchell someday whether with the Brewers or somebody else. WIll see if that ever happens. Would keep Mitchell around though as the talent level is still high and think he will be a difference maker in the playoffs for somebody in the future.

Brewers Reportedly Concerned about Payroll

Ken Rosenthal reportedly knows something about finance. As discussed when Woodruff accepted the qualifying offer the Brewers have quite a bit of payroll flexibility even after he accepted. It's hard to find short term deals for quality players but if they are out there the Brewers can afford it. One year deals like Woodruff and Peralta is not a payroll concern for the Brewers. If the Brewers get blown away with an offer for Peralta they should certainly consider it but there isn't financial pressure to trade him. -
Too bad a guy like Rob Zastryzny couldn't get a piece of this. Started in the majors in 2016 and still not arbitration eligible.

Sounded okay at first until Contreras gets traded. Can't see that happening, it would kill this team. -
I guess today ended up not being too interesting, which may not be a bad thing.

It never works that way though, long term deals are long term commitments. Saving money this year is certainly no guarantee they will spend it in the future. Maybe Mark A and the rest of the owners get an extra distribution instead if they don't pay Woodruff for a year. No idea why anyone would hate this deal if they actually want the Brewers to win in 2026. It's a one year deal, it doesn't prevent them from doing anything in future year.

Would have leaned toward taking the compensation but considering it is a one year deal and still well under budget looking forward to a solid rotation next year. Don't believe Peralta is going anywhere and they try to win it all in 2026.

With the injuries he has would like to see him play in AAA more and not good use of service time to rot on the bench. Get Haase again if necessary.

Wouldn't expect them to add anybody and don't think anybody in the system will be taken in the major league portion of the draft.

The premise is incorrect from the beginning. Mutual option dead money(16.6 million) is 2025 money. From Spotrac Brewers have nearly $50 million to work with pending the Brandon Woodruff decision and want to keep money reserved for trade acquisitions.

We have been following this organization to know Marte isn't the type of move they would make. Another guy in his 30s with a number of years left on his contract is not part of the plans.

If you are going to have an article on Hernan Perez then can't leave out Jameson Tailon calling him the Latin Babe Ruth.

I would agree with this but at halftime I couldn't really forsee any scenario how the Badgers could win that game even down only 7. Ultimately the answer was force two turnovers, one creating a goaline situation for the offense, and don't have any turnovers of their own. Have little to no faith in their offense so defense will have to have near perfect games and create turnovers.

Washington was pretty pathetic with their only TD being when they got the ball on the 1. Pretty even all around, it wasn't like Washington outplayed them and was just unlucky.

Woodruff making 1/6 of team salary isn't that big of a deal to this team, especially since it is a one year deal. Most of the team is young making near minimum or early arbitration. Their best pitcher in year 9 making $8 million. The Brewers have much more flexibility this season than people realize. However, as a small market they can't get in long term bidding wars with huge salary accounted for in future years. They can sign multiple Woodruff type 1 year deals if they were out there.

This is a one year deal, it really shouldn't impact if they offer a long term deal to Turang or Frelick. I am never going to disagree too much with the Brewers signing a proven veteran on a one year deal even if they have injury history because there is no long term committment. -
Yeager is a free agent at this point, elected to add Crow but not Yeager. Not sure if Yeager gets a 40 man spot from another team but doesn't appear like the Brewers were willing to do so.
