  1. It is nice to see they got better at the deadline, it is tough to upgrade being in their spot and limited tradeable assets. It is an uphill climb but keep GIannis healthy and see what happens.
  2. Yeah, if you are giving me Chourio/Contreras/Yelich and two of those have already been top 5 MVP that would seem like the obvious choice. Wishful thinking on the other two scenarios.
  3. I think it is worth exploring, he is super two next year so he is going to get expensive by year 5/6, maybe they can get him on a discount now plus an option.
  4. They better send him to the minor from the get go then, this is his last option year so will have to be a major leaguer full time in 2026 if he is going to be a Brewer. Still no evidence to suggest this has been discussed by the Brewers, may not even be on anybody elses radar, maybe Jack Stern can follow up since he works for this site.
  5. Hudson has not been a starter since 2019, his starts in 2023 were openers. Speculation from Clancy.
  6. This post was starting to pump me up but then kind of annoyed me as well. Those Mitchell, Chourio and Frelick homers and Tobias Myers game 3 should have been Brewers highlights for years to come but now I don't want to relive that playoff series ever again. The veterans kind of did crap the bed that series and it was newbies that came through.
  7. D - They got worse on paper. They seem to be able to outperform expectations but feel much better when I think the team got better from year to year.
  8. It's not crazy to put Chourio on the list because somebody like Chourio has a better chance to make it since he can compile stats and awards for a longer period of time. Would put him second behind Greinke.
  9. I do wonder why they always project Contreras to be lower. He has proven three years in a row he is a premier hitter and only entering his prime.
  10. I doubt it, Parker was washed up in 1991 and likely would not have ended well with him, could only imagine how bad it would have been if they traded Molitor in 1991. It was doomed to fail no matter which route was chosen with Parker.
  11. I would consider Durbin a near lock to make the team, still hoping for another signing so he is more of a bench guy than starter. Not much confidence in Monasterio and not sure what to think of Dunn considering he never came back from the injury and then struggled in the Dominican league during the off season. Might be best if they are both in the minors to at least start the year. Not sure why they keep on hanging on to Capra when he has not options so maybe they are even thinking of him as a bench option if no further upgrades. Would not have a problem with Black on the bench as Bauers got a ton of time last year.
  12. It will only mantain if he ends up being a HOF player which is still a longshot.
  13. I would take the money for my family. Being an accountant it would be a burden to pay taxes on what the Pirates gave me without any cash. If I sell the card I pay taxes but now have cash to pay the taxes plus money to do whatever I want. Also, would sell that card ASAP as he is hot now but that goes fast especially for pitchers.
  14. No, he had spent time in the majors with the Dodgers in 2023 as well so is five days over a year of service. Of course they could send him to the minors again in 2025 and get that extra year. I kind of like the idea of Martinez getting the Bauers role this year but don't think they will do that considering he has no AAA experience. They have more flexibility with Black/Martinez in that role with their options and kind of stuck with Bauers or at least a longer leash if he makes the team.
  15. JB Bukauskas will be a non-roster invitee after accepting his outright assignment to AAA. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/jb-bukauskas-accepts-outright-assignment-with-brewers.html
  16. JB's 4th option was granted in 2024 and don't necessarily carry forward to the next season. I have not seen anything that he has a 4th option for 2025.
  17. 1/15/21 may end up as one of the most important dates in Brewers history as they signed 16 year old Jackson Chourio.
  18. The same thing was said about Lucroy, it doesn't end well for catchers. Conteras could be one of the exceptions but the Brewers shouldn't be the one taking that risk. The brewers have him through age 29 which is great, One of the large markets can pay him for his declining years. Would not be interested in trading him right now.
  19. It is amazing what once reputable places like SI will now put out there.
  20. Parker's All Star days were not behind him as he was an All-Star for the Brewers. Would add Jim Abbott, played his final season with the Brewers. He wasn't good but did get his two career hits as a Brewer, which is impressive. Was also kind of excited when they picked up Tom Brunansky in 1993 but he was horrible as a Brewer. Julio Franco was another in 1997 but he ended up playing another 10 years so not exactly end of the line for him even though his first game in MLB was in 1982.
  21. Freddy wasn't mentioned either so quite a bit of the rotation was overlooked. I think it is a lot to ask Myers to improve on from his prior season. However, there is a lot to like about him, he continued to play well down the stretch and into the playoff game he pitched. It is amazing where he was at in 2022 and where he is now.
  22. It depends on how the season plays out. Probably best case scenario two of Woodruff, Cortes, Civale and Hoskins(longshot) get a qualifying offer but my guess when all is said and done only one of those players get a qualifiying offer from the Brewers. Zero isn't out of the question though with the injury history.
  23. Kind of surprising he is still #5 on prospect lists here. If Black was gone tomorrow I don't think the Brewers lose much but would be mad if they included Made (#6) in a deal.
  24. No price is too low for Dasani Water but those are very reasonable prices for some of the others, lower than high school or even youth hockey concession prices.
  25. I'm with you, think he will have a productive year. He no doubt is not worth what they are paying him but I am highly skeptical the Brewers will spend what they will pocket on a Hoskins trade so a trade makes them worse. It will hurt the bottom line this season but there are no long term consequences to keeping him. Black will get more opportunities and they will find a way to play him if he produces.
