  1. Appears to be CF but also curious on the return.
  2. If that is the case the Brewers might as well call Lou Whitaker, they could use a 2B and Whitaker was removed after one year on the ballot. On a side note it is amazing Whitaker put up a 890 OPS at 38 and retired.
  3. Yes it would. I believe that happened to Jose Rijo, not that he ever was close to being elected.
  4. Righties: 1 Sogard/Villar 2 Phillips 3 Braun 4 Shaw 5 Santana 6 Thames 7 Arcia 8 Pina/Vogt Lefties: 1 Arcia 2 Brinson 3 Braun 4 Shaw 5 Santana 6 Perez 7 Phillips 8 Pina If I could make one move for the Brewers it would be to get Hernandez from the Phillies then I would have him bat leadoff pretty much every day and Villar is gone. Then I would give Phillips some starts against lefties but Perez would get the majority of time against lefties and play left or give Shaw a day off here and there. Still think Perez can be a productive player offensively if not over used. I am also making the decision to play Braun at first against lefties and Aguilar is gone because he can't play anywhere except 1B. Brinson would face his fair share of righties due to Braun and his scheduled days off.
  5. I can see why Drake is still around because he is the lefty specialist right now. It was never between Drake and Hughes/Jeffress. Now if they do sign a better lefty like Duke and still have Drake in this bullpen that would raise questions.
  6. Not a chance it would be buried this time of year. Any MLB signing is going to get two pages right now.
  7. 1.75 million is much lower than predicted.
  8. Do you have 26 guys because Nelson is guaranteed to start the year on the disabled list?
  9. Bandy is more vulnerable than Susac since the two major league catching spots are pretty secure now. Susac has struggled but it is nice to have in minors and an easy call up when a catcher is injured.
  10. I imagine they will in order to free some 40 man spots, just a matter of which player(s). Probably still actively seeking trades for these guys as well.
  11. I don't understand why some would say this is a risky strategy. If the Brewers do indeed DFA Baker and somebody else claims him they are just in the same spot as before, that isn't risky, it is no risk with potential for gain. They potentially could have had Blake Parker last year to strengthen the bullpen if it worked.
  12. I like this move, a type of player that you see in the rule 5 draft but with him the Brewers can option him. If he is healthy it is a cheap way to get another power arm in the bullpen.
  13. They are definitely in if they win out, the only question if they win out is if they will be the 1 seed.
  14. Not much, it doesn't seem like he has played since coming to the Brewers, just a name at this point and nothing more.
  15. Mass had it right from the start.
  16. The date for protecting players is Monday but it doesn't mean they won't outright others later. If they see somebody left unprotected or released during the roster crunch that is better than Wang, Webb, Jungmann etc. then they won't think twice about outrighting them. Same thing with free agents, if the 40 man is full after Monday I wouldn't read into it that they won't be active in free agency.
  17. Sometimes you have to stop bluffing and actual cancel the service, if they still don't offer you a deal they will constantly try to get you back after. I have been without cable for a couple of years and it is great. The freedom to buy/cancel Sling, Vue, Netflix, Hulu, etc is great
  18. I see this guy on Twitter. Who is he outside of a guy who spends a ton of ti,e at ball fields in AZ. He always sounds like he knows what he's talking about, but that's easy to do if you know some lingo and cliches. I was thinking the same. He can say the right words but his evaluations seem to be pretty contrary. Yeah, I don't really know what he has done in the past or if he has credibility however he really does go to these games day in and day out. At the very least he provides a different perspective of actually seeing the players on a regular basis vs scouting the stat line but I have no idea if he really knows his stuff.
  19. Bumping because I was looking for this and it was on the second page. Should see a bunch of roster activity within the next week.
  20. Unfortunately no Brewer received a vote in the NL ROY voting yesterday won by Cody Bellinger.
  21. I lot of these PED guys should be off the ballot by the time Beltran is eligible but I have my doubts he will be voted in. Not saying he doesn't deserve it but think it will be tough to get 75% support.
  22. Looking at that Royals team they sure seemed to make some bad decisions during their window and trying to extend that window. That Alex Gordon contract is just horrible right now and the Kennedy contract isn't far behind. Of course it is hindsight but in order to keep these windows these small market teams have to hit on who to let walk and who to sign to long term deals. Probably would rather have Eric Hosmer & Mike Moustakas now, who are still at the later stages of their prime vs negative value players like Gordon and Kennedy who they resigned past their prime.
  23. Clancy, you may remember Lucroy as one of the best pitch framers but that was then, he is now one of the worst. His decline has been swift and they should stay away.
  24. I agree that they are long term projects but they all impact cash flow. Now I don't know if they are taking out loans for all of these things and spreading the cash flow over a number of years or paying up front but the cash has to come from somewhere even though they will see a 25 year benefit in this case.
  25. I have never gone to Spring Training and probably won't for a number of years so don't really care where it is in Arizona. The only concern is the money because we are led to believe the savings for the last couple of years would go to players but spending $60 million makes those saving disappear rather quickly.
