  1. If I was a 62 year old GM that has never won a championship I would have went all in and acquired the best players available at the trade deadline to try to win one championship as I don't know if I will ever have a better chance to win. If by some miracle the owner gives me one more chance I will trade anybody in the minors to get me over that hump and finally win a championship. If I was a young, newly hired GM I would see if I could hit the lottery by trading Carlos Gomez and trade one of Gallardo/Garza/Lohse for a good prospect. I would pray the other two have a great year and trade them at the trade deadline. Maybe I'll be even luckier and Broxton will have an amazing year so he can be traded at the deadline.
  2. Having the Bucks play in the Miller Park area is a pretty bad idea. There isn't really a debate if it will go in the downtown area, just where in the downtown area.
  3. It certainly wasn't because he made winning the #1 priority when he was owner here.
  4. I guess in my imaginary world I'll just assume Corey Hart's number is retired whenever I see it.
  5. With the season ending so badly I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the Brewers would have pulled the trigger and obtained Morneau as they ended up 8-18 since the initial post here was made. It must be hard being a GM because if Melvin would have just been thinking win now and sent away a guy like Nelson they very well could still be in the playoffs and there would be no talk of Melvin getting fired. Why does any GM care what fans think of them five years from now, why aren't they always selfish and think win now. Not saying it would have been the right move but I sometimes wonder how any GM can think long term when there is basically no guarantee of even next year.
  6. If that happens I would think that they would wait until Monday, why create a circus when the season can just end this weekend without anyone really paying attention.
  7. I am also not optimistic about Thornburg or Henderson being in the bullpen next year. With Thornburg if he becomes healthy enough to pitch I hope he is a starter in AAA and is given an opportunity to start at the big league level when spots open up during 2016. Less optimistic about Henderson, maybe a DFA guy if the Brewers need the 40 man spot this off season.
  8. Fiers Lohse Nelson Peralta Smith Lucroy Gennett Arcia Gomez Michael Reed Tyrone Taylor Davis Parra Jeffress Clint Coulter Next 6: Tyler Cravy Jason Rogers Tyler Wagner Taylor Jungmann Tyler Thornburg Matt Garza
  9. I know what you mean but don't want to cause any confusion. Bonus, commission, etc. is not taxed any higher, however it may be withheld at a higher rate. When you do your taxes you won't pay a higher tax just because you received a bonus or commission.
  10. Not real sure why but I don't really like any of the NL teams, I should feel kind of sorry for the Pirates because of how bad they have been over the years but just don't. On the other side I kind of like all of the AL teams remaining. Probably rooting for the Royals and Orioles the most but wouldn't mind the A's, Tigers or Angels winning it all.
  11. In the short term that could be appealing but would also concern the Brewers into thinking Fiers can't be trusted in the rotation anymore and maybe they overreact in the off season and sign somebody to the rotation and don't give Fiers a shot next year.
  12. I entered in the right field corner on Saturday and is what not that bad but if you were trying to enter behind home plate you could have been backed up all the way to Helfaer Field. They were justified in delaying the game.
  13. I agree with you on that. Also, just because the Vikings decided to bring him back doesn't mean the NFL won't do something. If Goodell doesn't want another reason for people to have him fired he will need to step in by this weekend if the Vikings don't change their stance.
  14. Because of the injuries to Thornburg and Henderson anybody in the organization at August 31 is eligible.
  15. There will be no issue putting him on the playoff roster. I would say he has a decent shot at the first base job in 2015 but he has been producing his entire minor league career so who knows.
  16. If the Brewers pick up one game on the Cardinals this weekend they again control their own destiny in regards to winning the division.
  17. Cueto beats the Cardinals today and doesn't allow a run, no Cueto against the Reds this weekend.
  18. Jean Segura is batting 500 over the last six games and was the sparkplug in the Brewers victory on Wednesday.
  19. The Reds must see more in Shackelford than the Brewers or I see in him though as the GM mentioned that they were getting a player that was near major league ready so I am assuming he was talking about Shackelford.
  20. Hellweg may be in the mix as well if he doesn't start the season on the DL or removed from the 40 man after the season. A darkhorse might be Strong as he is a lefty and they are sending him to the AFL so they might see something in him.
  21. With the unfortunate year Segura had in 2014 I imagine he gets another shot in 2015 with minimal competition. I could see him being sent to AAA in 2015 if his struggles continue but in reality I think he is keeping shortstop warm until Arcia is ready in 2016/2017.
  22. Shackelford has potential but struggled quite a bit in Huntsville and Astin is the type of throw in I wish was in the Parra deal. Pretty much a salary dump, hopefully the Brewers can get a better haul next year if they struggle and Broxton is their closer.
  23. Regarding Scooter, at this point I would give him the at bats this year to help them better make a decision on him next year. Would still be a small sample but would like to see that he can at least do better than he has done thus far in his career.
  24. The Brewers actually play the Reds and not the Pirates, which is actually a good thing as the Reds have been horrible as well. 5-2 record seems reasonable, maybe 6-1.
