  1. I just was informed that my customized PLUSH navy-blue Brewers t-shirt with the number 2 on it was cancelled. Boo. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  2. At the home opener on Monday I had the Canadian Poutine. I believe the only concession stand it was available at was in section 129. I had high hopes for this item during the off-season but I ended up being very disappointed with it. The gravy didn't really add that much flavor to the french fries, and the few cheese curds that they crumbled over the top didn't really add anything either. I'd much rather get some nachos or even chesse-covered fries, especially for the $7.00 they were charging for the poutine.
  3. Does anyone have any stats of the Brewers' ability to bring in a runner from scoring position with less than two outs or the percentage of solo home runs that they hit, especially compared to all other teams, for the last couple of years? I don't watch many non-Brewers games, but it seems like for the last couple of years they have a very difficult time brining in a runner from third with less than two outs and, even though they hit more home runs than other teams, it appears that most are solo home runs. I'm sure this is amplified because I'm a Brewers' fan, but I really think that they Brewers must be near the top of teams with their inability to drive in these extra runs.
  4. Add me to the list as someone who needs a 2011 magnet schedule. I added a post in the off-topic forum last night, but I probably should have posted it here. Sorry about that.
  5. Does anyone have an extra magnetic schedule that were given away at today's game? Mine is more beat up than I'd prefer. I keep them from every opening day that I have gone to and keep them on my beer fridge. I have every one since 1999 now but unfortunately mine from today is kind of bent in a couple spots. Anyway, if you don't want yours I'd gladly take it off your hands. Thank you!
  6. We have to worry about having a lead near the end of the game first before we have to worry about who will be available to close. I'm hoping Narveson can help us turn the tide...
  7. When I first heard of 3D TV's I thought that they would be very gimmicky...where you'd watch a show and they'd have things leap out at you (like 3D movies back in the day). I was pleasantly surprised at how cool it really is. When I've watched the 3D TV set up at my local Best Buy, the various movies they've shown had a great visual depth to them. In my opinion this was cooler than the "stuff flying at you" effects. I've seen parts of a couple different digitally animated films there...Monster vs. Aliens, Avatar, and some other Pixar-type film and all were great in 3D. The best was the one weekend they had an ESPN 3D broadcast (which I believe is available on DirectTV). There was a college football game on and it was amazing. You have to see it to appreciate how cool it was. That being said, I'm sure I'll wait to get a 3D TV until my current 62" DLP TV dies, or when the next generation gaming consoles come out and most games for them will hopefully be 3D-capable. I guess PS3's are 3D-capable but the number of games is limited.
  8. I know they gave copies of it away on DVD during the last homestand of last season.
  9. Who?!? I need to know this. It sounds amazing. I don't know who BCZF was referring t,o but in Stevens Point, Ski's Meat Market makes some amazing sausages...including buffalo chicken, jalapeño, inferno (made with habenero peppers), and a bunch of others that aren't spicy.
  10. Didn't Aerosmith (or at least Steven Tyler) perform that one year with Britney Spears?
  11. I was there for whatever reason- I think that I was under the false impression that you had to show up to get a certificate for a County Stadium brick or something.... it was brutal. I remember how cold and miserable it was, and I endured about two hours before I left. They had to get the game in because of Cincinnati playoff implications, and after I left I drove the hour and a half home, and the game was just getting underway. It was supposed to be the last game but the crane accident delayed it a year. The actual last game was much more entertaining (not the game, but the 'pageant' afterward).I was at that game as well. I remember still trying to tailgate in the cold/rain using umbrellas to keep us and the grill as dry as possible. Our seats were in the upper deck outfield on the third base side and there was barely anyone around us. The biggest selling item for the vendors was hot chocolate because it was so cold and nasty out. They played footage from some of the other games going on around the country on County Stadium's horrible scoreboard...you could barely make out players and I remember trying to find the baseball on it when it was hit into play. We stayed for quite a while and then I made the 2.5 hour drive back up to the Stevens Point area and watched the end of the game on TV. As bad as the weather was, as bad as the team was, and as unfortunate as the entire situation was, this is still a very fond memory of mine. I do miss County Stadium...but I sure am glad that we have Miller Park now.
  12. That's what she said....oh, wait... Sorry, had to do that. Seriously though, I thought the same thing. For some reason I thought it would be about double that size. I guess if you look at the proposed image a few posts back, the advertising area needs to be installed completely around the video board. Maybe when I see the thing in person I'll see that it is a much bigger board...I hope. The most recent article I read said it would be the 4th largest video board in MLB. I swear that an older article said it would be the 2nd...maybe they downsized a bit?
  13. Peeps? I thought of a good costume but it was too late. I would have liked to go as the super rich russian guy from the Direct TV commercial. Just wear a turtle neck, spray paint a cheap remote gold, get a gold pillow and a giraffe beanybaby. Then walk around saying stuff with a Russian accent like "Opulence, I has it." Oh well, next year will probably be too late. A guy at a Halloween party I went to last night was the Russian guy from the Direct TV commercial. He had a sport coat on over a turtle neck and had a Direct TV remote and a stuffed giraffe. He was talking with a Russian accent all night. He also shaves his head so he looked a lot like the guy from the commercial. It was pretty cool.
  14. I'm 6'2"+ and have a 2007 Ford Fusion. If you get the power driver seat you can lower it down and with it all the way back I have a good amount of room. My wife has a 2010 Ford Fusion and it fits me the same way. We both have the moon roof option so if you don't take that there should be more head room too. My friend has a 2008 Scion xB and there is plenty of head room in there...but it's not my style of car.
  15. The only real reason I read this thread is because of the "An Historic" part of the title. I wanted to see if someone was going to try to correct it by changing it to "A Historic". I just talked about this to someone at work a couple weeks ago when they didn't believe me that it is acceptable to use "an" in front of certain non-vowel starting words. I'm glad to see some people knew that here as well.
  16. I never understood why people left their grills out during the game. To me it just seems like you are asking for someone to steal/kick/hide it. I always bring my heavy-duty grilling gloves when we tailgate and as soon as we are done eating I pick up my charcoal grill and empty it in the charcoal containers. Once the charcoal is out it cools off quickly and we can put it in the trunk of our car before heading into the game.
  17. Down in the Valley: The History of Milwaukee County Stadiumby Gregg Hoffmann http://www.goantiques.com/detail,down-valley-book,2024065.html
  18. My favorite BBQ sauce is McDonald's (yes...the one you get at the restaurant), followed by Sweet Baby Ray's. If McDonald's would sell there BBQ sauce in stores I'd be all over that.
  19. What's amazing to me is that the last time the NL won the ASG, the Brewers were in the AL. Growing up I couldn't wait for the ASG because it was one of the few times a year I'd get to see a MLB game (there weren't too many games on network TV in central WI in the late-1980s to mid-1990s). I always rooted for the AL, but it always seemed that the NL would win. Then the Brewers switched leagues and then the NL could never win. I figured that the Brewers jinxed the NL...I guess it just takes 13 years or so for that to wear off.
  20. This is what I thought of from this thread's title: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1397/1408075081_5607ee607d.jpg?v=0 "So I wrote a book...big whoop, wanna fight about it?" Seriously though...congrats on the book.
  21. I also was at or was supposed to be at two of the more-recent triple play games but I never actually saw them. The first was an Opening Day (I think it was Opening Day at least) game against the Cubs. The Brewers were losing pretty badly so we decided to leave. When we were on the concourse we heard everyone cheering and ran to where we could see the field and saw that we missed a triple play...bummer. The second was last year's (I think it was the infamous Fielder bowling-over walk-off). That game was part of our ticket package but it was during my vacation so I had to sell the tickets. I think that these situations are even more-rare than actually seeing the triple plays.
  22. I was at the make-up double-header against the Astros in 2000 where the Brewers were down 9-2 with no-one on base and two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. They ended up tying the game in the bottom of the 9th and won it on a Jose Hernandez home run in the 10th. One of the biggest comebacks in MLB history. It was very exciting...hit after hit after hit. I think it was May 22, 2000. There was only around 3,300 people in attendance since it was originally an off-day but the two previous games were rained out. All tickets were $10 and my brother and I were in the second row behind the Brewers dugout. He couldn't get off of work so he wasn't able to make it to the first game until the middle of the 9th and I remember him saying that he wasn't going to count this loss in his overall Brewers record since he wasn't there for almost the entire game...but when the Brewers came back he changed his mind.
  23. I was at a Brewers game where the offense looked lifeless (except for two solo home runs by Fielder) , where Gallardo was pitched ok the first couple innings but then gave up a 2-RBI single to an American League pitcher for that pitcher's first MLB hit, and then it went downhill from there.
  24. When I saw this headline I thought to myself "I wonder if they are having him start against a team like the Pirates...that way he has a good chance of dominating in his first game"...and sure enough it was the Pirates. I'm glad it's not against the Brewers since their track record against pitchers making their major league debut is less than stellar.
  25. I was just coming to post this one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Believe it or not...I was also going to post "Team Sucks" tonight!
