  1. Win or lose tonight, we won't be the first team knocked out of the post-season. (Thanks Minnesota!)
  2. Lauer for 1-2 Peralta for 3-4 Suter for 5-6 then either good bullpen (Topa on a short leash, Williams, Hader) if they're ahead, or bad bullpen (everyone else) if they're behind. Since there's a DH, they can stretch guys a little longer than the initial plan, but the idea is to avoid giving multiple looks at a particular style of pitcher.
  3. When was the last time you heard #12 compliment the play-calling during his post-game interviews? That stood out to me. Taysom Hill's fumble wasn't the result of a bad exchange; Z punched on the football with his initial contact and jarred the ball loose, exactly the way they coach it. Seeing the Saints run productively off-tackle reminded me a lot of the games against the 49ers offense last year, so both teams had clearly done their homework and game-planned accordingly. I'm guessing the Packers saw the Saints LBs over-pursuing against the run, which opened up all the bootleg opportunities for the TEs. (As someone who picked Sternberger and Ty Summers as players I hoped would take a step forward this year, there were some positive signs.)
  4. Can't recover a ball that doesn't go 10 yards. Great job not jumping on it by the hands team.
  5. It all comes down to one game. I'm feeling it - Go Brewers!
  6. https://kotaku.com/heres-the-playstation-5s-launch-lineup-1845082953 Admittedly most of the launch titles I’m interested in are also available on PS4, but I’ll gladly play the graphics improved versions of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Avengers, etc., while waiting on a PS5 version of Cyberpunk & Overwatch 2. There’s also the PS+ collection (PS4 games made free when buying in to online gaming), which will get me to give God of War another try...I’ve played earlier ones, they never connected with me. Persona 5 was one of my favorite PS4 games, so I recommend it for anyone who grew up on jRPGs, especially over Final Fantasy XV. This is my first console preorder. I know that I’m going to end up buying one before a price drop, so why not grab it Day 1?
  7. Assuming my pre-order doesn't get cancelled, I'm right there with you. Excited to have more 4k content for my 4k TV!
  8. 10-12 wins and a playoff spot. I'm hoping for a breakout year from Jace Sternberger. Last season, you saw the rapport with Rodgers start to build late in the season. If #12 is throwing you the ball in the red zone, there's some trust there; especially when he went to Jace in the playoffs for a TD after dropping one in the regular season. If the Packers do work more heavily out of multiple-TE sets, I think he's going to be the beneficiary of the new schemes...particularly if the ball comes out in-rhythm (which may be the one stealth benefit of our RT situation). On defense, I'm hoping for Ty Summers to step up and have a productive year, since he's backing up a pair of injury-prone MLBs in Burks and Kirksey. When teams look to run on GB, and they will after the SF games last year, the team needs someone in the middle to close down the lanes and make tackles.
  9. A little bit...but I care more when it matches what I see in the pre-season. We saw Sullivan play well in the pre-season. It's not the end all, but it's entertaining to watch. To see the next Sam Shields start to break through...not saying I love pre-season games, but I certainly enjoy that aspect. And I've enjoyed them more when we've had reason to hope we had a good young QB. I always try to center-in on the draft picks and the UDFA players that the beat reporters covering training camp tout. With the lack of pre-season games, I can't see how the reporting matches up to my own eyes.
  10. Curious for those more in the know than myself: how is something this obviously offensive not censored out on a professional broadcast? I get that the whole point to a "hot mic" moment is that the production thinks the microphones are off....but isn't the person with the finger on the delay button listening to the outgoing audio? I don't feel much need to trample on Mr. Brennaman's career; he did that well enough already.
  11. Has anyone mentioned the Umbrella Academy (Netflix) on this thread? Finished Season 2 this past week, and enjoyed it quite a bit....but I'm a comics geek, so that's not entirely surprising.
  12. I remember when we'd argue over whether Eddie Lacy showed up for training camp overweight...doesn't look like we'll have that concern with Dillon. Geez!
  13. ...who's still only 24 years old. At the very least, the Packers are still paying for his prime years.
  14. Substitute Peralta with Burns, and that's about how I feel. Honestly, both of our "piggy-back" starters have been outstanding.
  15. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/birdland/facts-refute-claims-cardinals-got-covid-19-at-casino/article_1d8341d8-33f2-5e31-83d9-3c875927161b.html Saw this story on my Twitter feed; in case you were wondering how Cardinals fans could try to blame Milwaukee for their players getting sick.
  16. Wasn't sure there was going to be a season...still not sure they're going to make it to the playoffs (MLB in general; the 'Crew will make it if MLB gets there), but it's really nice to have an excuse to wear the Yelich jersey to the office today. Go Brewers!
  17. https://www.wired.com/story/a-wisconsin-city-experiments-with-a-faster-diy-covid-19-test/ A good read for anyone curious about testing, and the local angle certainly makes it worth posting here.
  18. I watched Jack Ryan during the first week(s) of Safer at Home. It was very binge-friendly; I liked it more than 24 when that was still on. I'm not much of a car guy, but The Grand Tour is highly enjoyable for the camaraderie between the 3 hosts (who had done a similar show, Top Gear, for the BBC for years prior to starting at Amazon). I started watching because it was native 4K HDR content, and the show is beautiful in that format...provided you have the hardware and bandwidth for it. Good Omens is pleasant, and proof that I will watch just about anything with David Tennant in it. Finally, Fleabag is a mature-audiences, British comedy. Season 1 is good, but Season 2 is even better, with both the show and its star / creator (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) won comedic Emmies for S2. About the only show I started and dropped was Tales from the Loop. A little too disjointed for my linking.
  19. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/29334793/ex-badger-kobe-king-play-nebraska So, if not Nebraska, where is Kobe King going?
  20. Not to derail the random thoughts thread, but.... ...is it just me, or are people way too in to the idea of making bread lately?
  21. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/05/01/months-before-drafting-him-packers-used-josiah-deguara-as-a-teaching-tool/ "Deguara, a third round tight end/fullback out of Cincinnati, was used by Packers coach Matt LaFleur in a team meeting last year as an example of the way LaFleur wants his players to play the game. Specifically, LaFleur showed the Packers a highlight of Deguara running down a UCLA player after an interception, hustling to make a tackle on what otherwise would have been a pick-six." Honestly, I like the guy considerably more after knowing this. Not 100% sure he was worth a 3rd round pick, but that's academic at this point.
  22. I totally overlooked Rison, but upon closer inspection, he only had 1 regular season TD with Green Bay in 1996. Mark Ingram Sr. had 3 from Favre in 1995. Randy Moss had 2 from Favre in 2010 when they were both wearing purple. Just to chip in another part of the answer, Keith Jackson (1st round pick in 1988) caught 1 TD for the Packers in 1995 and 10 in 1996. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JackKe00.htm Looking over the starters for the Packers during Favre's tenure, Darrell Thompson caught a TD in 1992...but I don't know if that was when Favre was playing QB. EDIT: Thomas Jones caught 2 TDs for the Jets during Favre's season there as well.
