  1. I hear you on that, but wasn't Del Rio a surprise winner? Like I said, I wasn't watching around the time he won, so I don't know how he was being built at the time. I think the reasoning for doing it back in the day was to help get the concept of the Rumble being "every man for himself" over. I am hoping that Sean Waltman makes an appearance. I also hope whichever guy isn't the "1/2/12" guy between Taker and Jericho is in the Rumble - or that they both are.
  2. For whatever reason I am a sucker for a good Rumble match. Probably because I was 13 for the '98 Rumble when Austin won and that I used to rent the '92 Rumble when I was a kid. I wasn't actually watching for this year's, which I am glad.
  3. I see they are going back to a 30 man Rumble. That's a good thing.
  4. I doubt it. I really don't have any doubts that he'll get a nice fat deal.
  5. Don't you need baserunners the whole game in order to score runs?
  6. Well, this would seem to be done with an eye toward having him on the MLB bench, I think.
  7. Oh, man. I hope Rany writes a big piece on this.
  8. It's insane that this thread is 7.5 years old... wow.
  9. The company is loaded with in-ring talent. The problem is that the writers suck. I can do without Air Boom, but I really never care that much for pure babyfaces like them. It's too bad they have no one for Beth Phoenix to wrestle until Kharma comes back, because she is awesome. Kelly Kelly can't even run the ropes. I am becoming a bigger Cody Rhodes fan by the week. I'm cool with the Broski because he earned it, and the match with Ziggler was good for both of them. I guess I am cautiously optimistic? I'm guessing they will screw it up soon enough, most likely with how they do the Daniel Bryan title reign.
  10. This is a hall of fame caliber thread, no question.
  11. I would rather have Ramirez because I don't think Rollins can hit.
  12. Braun will need ESPN for his image rehabilitation, so he'll cooperate with them. It's a co-dependent relationship, where ESPN destroys an athlete's image, then the athlete comes to do their big "I'm all better now" interview on ESPN. Mike Vick probably being the most recent one.
  13. I hope the WWE Network is good. I certainly want to watch it, and I am curious what package, etc. it winds up in on DirecTV. I don't expect it to be good, but one can hope. As long as they realize that the people who watch that network want to see wrestling, and not reality shows or wrestlers attempting to act, it could be alright. Obviously their library is ridiculously huge. However, I am sure they will spend some months wasting their time showing HHH movies.
  14. Absolutely. That's why I said earlier that I was hoping that that wasn't their goal.
  15. Well, another pretty mediocre PPV. They are definitely making the right call moving them to the WWE Network, because I can't imagine many people bought this.
  16. I guess I would be surprised if an investigative journalist as accomplished as Mark Fainaru-Wada would just recklessly ruin a guy without having some good information/sources. I hate ESPN, but he's been one of the most connected journalists as far as steroids, etc. go.
  17. Well, I certainly hope they sign him. I hope they weren't just bidding to block another team or something. It's not like they're the Yankees, so I doubt that was the case.
  18. I'm still not entirely convinced that Braun will be suspended if he in fact took something for medical purposes. I believe that the player only needs to get a waver if the medication they are taking is on the banned substances list. So if Braun's medication wasn't on the banned substance list, why would he feel the need to get a waver? They don't have a banned substances list. They have an allowed substances list. If a player takes something that is not on the allowed list, he needs to get league approval. He should certainly be suspended if he took something that wasn't on the allowed list without clearing it. It would be his fault.
  19. Someone should remind Rosiak of the great Takahito Nomura when he says they haven't signed a Japanese player before.
  20. Yeah, I don't think he really cares as long as he gets paid. That's why you hire Scott Boras and his stainless steel 73 page binder.
  21. And in totally unrelated news, the NFL has inked a long term TV contract. Seriously, every single network depends on the NFL and that's why they get treated like they do. Now trying to figure out how the NBA gets caught with a ref fixing games and nothing happens is a true mystery. Yeah, that was what I said a few posts up. The NFL is teflon when it comes to any drug scandal. Half the league is jacked on PED's and the media looks the other way.
  22. Hub Arkush was just on the pre-game show and said "the reporter is having a difficult time getting independent confirmation" of the list. Oddly enough, the league says there is no list... Crazy how that goes.
  23. I guess I personally don't think those teams are as awesome as those late '80s WWF teams. I agree with your view as far as why you feel that way, but I don't see the same potential.
  24. IF that was the case, he must have had a really good masking agent that wasn't detected either. Or he has a mole on the inside that told him when he was going to be tested. Or he had a fake you-know-what filled with clean urine. I think you get my point. I believe Braun has been tested at least twice every season, plus both times they made the playoffs. I would think that if he had been on something all along, he would've been caught a lot earlier. I mean Manny has been caught twice already. Sure Braun could have been incredibly lucky the whole time and Manny unlucky but I doubt that's the case. I'm a Brewers fan (and Braun has been my favorite player in the organization since he was drafted) so I'm obviously biased. But we really don't have enough facts to come to any conclusion now and nothing in Braun's history makes me believe that he actually knowingly took any PEDs. I guess nothing makes me believe he didn't use them, either. I guess I'm a cynic, but I think the majority of players are using some form of PED or have in the past. The difference is that a lot of them probably have Dr's helping them with their regimens now, as opposed to the past when guys looked really jacked. I'm a Brewers fan who had Braun as his avatar here on draft day and went to his first home game as a Brewer because of him, so I love the guy. I just don't think using PED's is a big deal, I guess. Getting caught is. I don't have a negative opinion about them at all. I love Barry Bonds, A-Rod, Manny, etc., so maybe I am coming at this thing from a slightly different angle than some fans are. I don't think they make a player a bad guy.
