  1. I remember literally getting laughed at for wearing a Brewers hat everywhere I went in 2002. Not that I blame them, but it happened. The bandwagon is certainly at an all-time high for my life right now, but people will jump off fast like always.
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/m...ap-redsox-athleticstrade Bailey and Ryan Sweeney to Boston in exchange for Josh Reddick, Miles Head, Raul Alcantara to the A's. Seems like a pretty small return on Bailey, and Sweeney actually isn't bad as far as being a 4th/5th OF type with some on base skills and zero pop. On the bright side, the A's will hopefully be able to move to San Jose by the sound of things. This seems to be part of a full-on rebuild in preparation for that, since you don't have much use for a closer with a 70-75 win team.
  3. It was better than what Charlotte drew the night before. That was pretty pathetic looking on TV. Half-empty to start the game.
  4. I don't think he'll get anything less than 6 years and $135 million. There's no way they can pay a guy $25 million a season, even if it's only three years. It's over... Quit calling her, she might not have a new boyfriend, but she's not going back to the old one.
  5. Put me down in the straight platoon camp.
  6. I think for some reason Heavy Soul has always been my favorite Black Keys song. I love their early albums best, too.
  7. I'm excited that it looks like he is finally going to get his chance. Hopefully he will seize it.
  8. He might not have much trust in him but he's probably going to have to ride with him based on finances alone.
  9. Exactly. That was a massive botch by the organization. It was the last year to win it with Fielder and they essentially stood pat on a left side of the infield that was killing the team both offensively and defensively.
  10. Yeah, they really need to get this resolved. Hopefully they will be in San Jose. I do think this team has a chance to have a surprising year. They have some young power bats that are very intriguing and should be fun to watch if they pan out.
  11. Definitely. I can see that maybe they overpaid for Marcum. but not Greinke.
  12. There's just so much better country-folk or alt-country whatever you want to call The King Is Dead out there. Gillian Welch being on the album is cool, though. Crane Wife is one of my favorite albums of the last five years, but ever since they have lost their way. I think the hyper-literate geek gimmick only works for so long, though. There are only so many songs you can write in that vein before the well runs dry.
  13. If he ever cuts his walks down, he's a bonafide ace - but how many guys has that been said about?
  14. They're going to be really good.
  15. I think there are a lot of fans that just never came back once the Big Three era was blown up, especially when Allen got traded. I'm pretty much at the point now where I'm rarely ever excited by the team. And I'm not the "anti-NBA" guy at all, I enjoy the NBA game. I end up watching the Bucks until I determine that they suck and aren't worth watching anymore, and then come back to the NBA for the playoffs.
  16. They really need to extend one of those two guys this offseason or they are going to end up losing both of them and be in full-on rebuilding mode in 2013 when it comes to the rotation.
  17. I've never heard a single one of those songs... So am I really, really old at 27?
  18. I don't think Theo really wants to build so much through FA like he did some of the time in Boston. I think he prefers to draft and develop and then trade prospects for established players that the Cubs can sign to deals. He probably won't have as much meddling to deal with in Chicago as he did with some of the Boston ownership group.
  19. The Cubs are like a 75 win team this year. Theo's not an idiot that's going to drop $150+ million on a guy to make them an 80 win team. Hendry was that guy, this is someone who is competent.
  20. I guess I just don't have the same love for Gindl that a lot of people do, so I definitely want Hart here for the duration of his deal. Gindl should be a good 4th OF, though.
  21. Yeah, that's a pretty excellent move for the Cubs.
  22. I'd be cool with that as long as Punk retains. Also, I want to see him ditch that stupid hideous belt. It looks ridiculous. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30543
  23. He also seems to be a nice guy for the situational stuff that RR might like to do (even though a lot of us here don't) like bunting and hit-and-runs. The positive, even for those of us who don't like that kind of play, is that Izturis is good at it unlike some of the players that were miscast in 2011.
