  1. I still would like clarity on the 27th player rule of anyone knows it.. If Chad Patrick starts tonight and we get five innings in and then postpone the game, can we bring up another pitcher to finish the game tomorrow as a part of another double header? Or can we not use two separate guys with that 27th man rule to play in the same game?
  2. I guess I would look at the trend line, much like the stock market. This is his first real attempt in the big leagues.. so look at the 30 day numbers vs the 15 day numbers vs the 7 day numbers and see which way he is trending. To me he is trending very much in the right direction. Black is an unknown. Siegler plays 5+ positions and allows you the option to PH Jansen if needed. As far as bench guys go... He is valuable.
  3. In the last week Siegler has come to the plate 15 times and has reached base safely in 8 of those trips.
  4. Would like to see a Ricky Bones reference in this thread by Thursday afternoon..
  5. This is a great point. If it happens and we get a new arm tomorrow... might as well let it be Patrick who gets yanked around a little. I didn't think about the up and down aspect of Gm2.
  6. Random thought, do we know the rules if we play Gm 1 and get rained out in Gm 2 and try again tomorrow for a double header in terms of the extra pitcher? Does it have the be the same guy or can we bring up a new arm tomorrow? I don't want to get too cute but wonder if we should throw Patrick in the first game and then swap him with another bullpen arm if GM2 were to get rained on. I am pretty sure Henderson is eligible to come off the IL tomorrow?
  7. I'm just getting home and was only able to catch bits and pieces of the game but heard the final two innings... not willing to go back through the whole thread so I'm sure some of this has been repeated... but two big things about this one/moving forward -> If we take 3 of 5 from Chicago the division if effectively over. Moves today should have reflected that thought process to bring a full healthy club to Chicago and they did. As odd as it sounds, the winning streak and breaking the record and George Webb and all of that almost seemed like it was becoming a distraction, in the extent of the coverage it was getting. I don't want to lose ever, but I almost feel a relief that we can be done with it now and just worry about baseball again. Is it weird I'm glad they lost so we can just go focus on winning the division this week?
  8. I just realized Lockridge does not know what it is like to lose as a Brewer. He is the key. Undefeated since his arrival.
  9. Fully expecting the Sunday of all Sunday lineups. My guess with the lefty on the mound.. Frelick RF Ortiz SS Contreras DH Vaughn 1B Jansen C Durbin 3B Mona 2B Berroa CF Lockridge LF
  10. Little worried about the bullpen heading into Chicago. Can Quintana throw us 7 tomorrow? Can we be up by 12 runs so we can throw Seigler? The ideal is 6 from Quintana and 3 from Myers.
  11. Re: The extra pitcher rule for the doubleheader on Monday.. can we grab anybody or do we have to follow the same call-up rules otherwise? Is Anderson available for us to grab?
  12. My very uneducated opinion is that I think he will have closing options, but I'm not sure he will have big money options. I could see someone like Pittsburgh giving him one year, $7 million. Allows a Pittsburgh like team to show their fans they are trying by signing a name, and then if they can turn him around have a trade piece at the deadline. If he can't get more than $6-$7 million though... I wonder if he isn't better off taking less for a lighter role to rebuild his rep and go for a bigger contract in '27? If he gets a closers roll and fumbles it away again next year that might be it for him getting that chance. If he can't find more than $6 elsewhere and the Brewers offer him $4 with incentives, I feel like he should consider us and we should consider him. This has been said multiple times here but this does feel like a Jeffress situation all over again.
  13. They need to go 23-18 the rest of the way. Sure seems inevitable with the pixie dust they are currently carrying. I will feel good about that number if we can win this series against Cincinnati by splitting these last two and then taking 3 of 5 from the Cubs. We would need to go 19-15 after that, a 56% clip. Lot of tough opponents on the horizon however.
  14. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Murphy gets beat up a lot (rightfully so!) for his pen usage... but if he really played matchups right there and didn't stick to the tiring "each guy has his inning" thing ... I applaud him. Other than Megill I love having all guys available at all times.
  15. Keeping the righty in when Barry Bonds is on deck... is a choice! Let's see if it pays off...
  16. Are we really also getting MVP Yelich back for the stretch run?! Uecker is so good to us man...
  17. Yeah, these kids are not going to be in Appleton long lol. They are electric and their bags might be marked for Biloxi for a cup of coffee before September ends.
  18. Kudos to Suter, man. He was always effective for us but I always felt like he was 3 bad outings away from getting DFA'd. Just perpetually thought "his style can't stay effective long term". Here he is in his 10th year. Has had a positive WAR every season except one. I'm sure he will have a job in whatever organization as a coach or TV or front office guy whenever he decides he is done.
  19. Yelich is the only player in MLB history to have multiple cycles against the same team. He has 3 against Cincy. Let's get him #4.
  20. This game had a goofy feel to it from the jump. Short a few players, knowing Miz is only going a few innings, possible small emotional come down from the Burger win/hype .... Knowing this team it means nothing and we still win by 6 runs .. but this one just has an odd aura from the jump to me. I know that is easy to say after this start but ... hope I'm wrong.
