  1. The 49ers look to be the best team in the NFC by a wide margin.
  2. Game 1 in a best of five is the most crucial game for the away team. If you can win that and game three the odds are now in favor of the away team. Lose game one then game two and three are must wins for the away team.
  3. No thanks on Lux. He will be in Arb1 for the '24 season so only two more seasons after that. Also he isn't really a SS as he is not that great there defensively and he is more of a 2B. I would rather get someone else than Lux. Something like Knack, Frasso and De Paula would be what I would be looking at from the Dodgers. That would be two starters who could be on the roster in '24 and a young slugging OF in A ball.
  4. Turang would be fine and Arcia and Lux are not someone I would want back in any trade especially for Adames. Turang future wise will be better than Arcia so not sure why you would want Arcia coming back at all. Arcia had a better offensive year this year but I wouldn't count on that to continue. Defensively Turang is about as good as what Arcia was advertised as being. I would be fine with Turang as the Brewers starting SS as long as he is in the #9 or #8 spot in the lineup his offense would just be a bonus. Plus Lux only has 3 more years of control. Not someone the Brewers should be trading for and who knows if Lux will even be the same player he was when he comes back from his injury. He may only be a 2B only with the torn ACL or he will have to move over to 3B so even if the Brewers got Lux back in a trade for Adames Turang is still the SS.
  5. Going to be a rough day for the markets on Monday with what happened in Israel today. Hopefully it doesn't spread to Lebanon but that area could have a larger impact on an already stressed part of the world.
  6. If Notre Dame has another disappointing finish this year do they fire their HC and go with JL?
  7. Would rather deal them separately and get the best prospects possible. Burnes to the Dodgers and then Adames to the Braves.
  8. The hitting coach is going to have about 0% impact on what you are talking about at least at the MLB level. Once a player gets to the MLB level the hitting coach won’t be messing with a hitters stance unless it is in the off season and they need work.
  9. I think Adames to the Braves for Grissom and Ignacio Alvarez makes some sense here for the Braves and Brewers. The Braves have soured a bit on Grissom. I wonder if he would be better defensively at 2B over SS. Turang at SS and Grissom at 2B should be a good inf for the Brewers defensively if Grissom can play a competent defense at 2B. The best player IMHO coming back is Alvarez. I don’t believe the Braves have the prospects to get Burnes so I don’t think the Brewers include him in the deal.
  10. Shoulder injuries tend to end careers for pitchers. It is possible he never fully recovers. Do you take about $1m less for ‘24 and receive a guaranteed $10m in ‘25 or risk it for nothing? If he doesn’t fully comeback from the shoulder injury he is not getting anywhere close to $10m.
  11. I think the Brewers may just offer Woodruff a 2-year extension depending on medicals instead of offering him arbitration. It would allow them to bring him along slowly and at a lower amount per year. Something like 2-years $20m extension instead of the arbitration number. The Brewers kept Hiura this year so I am not sure Tellez getting that much would be a non-tender. Laurer and Toro will definitely be non tendered.
  12. The people that cover the Bears on The Athletic said the same thing with the caveat that if he truly doesn't want to play in Chicago it is basically just a Eli Manning situation. The Bears could actually benefit from that. I am not sold on Caleb Williams being that Peyton Manning or Joe Burrow type of QB. I think it will take him longer to adapt to the NFL and it won't be as quick as like Manning and Burrow adapted to the league. The Bears are definitely taking another OL in the 1st round either with their pick or the Panthers pick. Even if they draft Williams #1 they should get enough offers where they could move down from their other pick and get a good OL. The Patriots are probably a team that may move up to get that other QB to replace who they have now. I am not sure Maye is worth the #2 pick but someone who would want to draft Harrison Jr. at the #2 spot is also another option.
  13. Well at least we lost against the team going to the WS for the NL.
  14. There has been rumors of this but also rumors to the contrary. It probably just becomes a Eli Manning situation. I think the Bears give Fields one more year but I don't think they should but they will. If the Bears get the #1 and #2 I wouldn't be surprised if they trade one or both. They should get a haul for one of their first round picks in the next draft even if Williams doesn't want to play for Chicago that pick will still be valuable as there will be a bunch of teams that will want to trade up for him. The Bears so far look like they will get the #1 pick. I think the Raiders are better than their record is and they will be back in the 10-15 range. The Cardinals will have two picks in the 1st round also and if they don't believe Murray is going to be able to come back the Bears could receive two 5-15 picks from them along with probably the Cardinals 2nd round pick. There is still a lot of the season left so still a lot of things that could happen between now and the end of the season.
  15. I hope so I want the 1st and 2nd pick in the draft!!!
  16. I actually think Vogt is #1 for the Mets and not CC because the Mets are going to have to go through a rebuild a bit.
  17. That wouldn't even be the highest paid MLB manager as it would be about 500k less than what Roberts is being paid.
  18. I think the Blue Jays are going to fire their manager. This is going to be the most attractive job in MLB this is basically the perfect landing spot for Counsell he won't have to go through a rebuild with the Mets and Blue Jays will pay for someone like CC. If it would be hard for CC to turn down a lot of money from the Mets how difficult would it be for CC to turn down a lot of money and have a WS talented team in the Blue Jays?
  19. I think at least one of Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer or Taylor gets traded this off season maybe two depending on if the Brewers see Chourio as a viable option to start the year with the Brewers and not in AAA. I think Mitchell and Wiemer are probably safe one because of injury and the other because of their offensive ineffectiveness. If someone gets traded I think it will be Frelick or Taylor. Perkins will still be cheap so I think the Brewers hang onto him as he just doesn't have enough value to trade. He provides more value as the 5th OF or someone they move back and forth from AAA.
  20. To be more precise here are the UFA for 2024 which middle of the order bat should the Brewers sign who is not named Ohtani. I can only really see one and that is J.D. Martinez and I am not sure he will leave LA. After that you have Hoskins, Gallo, and Chapman. Not really an exciting list after Ohtani and I don't think any of those players would be better than Canha.
  21. I think Williams is more likely to be traded this off season than Burnes will be as I don't believe the Brewers will get offers that they will deem as appropriate for Burnes. I think at best you are looking at a 1 75-100 prospect and a low level prospect in return. So something like Mauricio and Clifford from the Mets. If you think the Brewers are going to get a top 50 prospect for Burnes you are setting yourself up for disappointment it is not going to happen.
  22. Other than Ohtani there isn't a legitimate middle of the order bat in FA and there really hasn't been one in the last few years in FA other than Freeman and he wasn't coming to Milwaukee regardless of what the Brewers would have offered it was LA or Atlanta. Of all the FA bat pick ups the Canha and Santana types have been the more valuable pick ups in FA. There have been more busts in FA than there have been success. If the Brewers are to improve it is better to trade than it is to go through FA. Other than Olson there hasn't been much if any movement of middle of the order bats. Probably around what Conforto received last off season. I think the Brewers stay away from FA and will keep Canha who I think would be fine as a platoon bat at 1B and DH. Canha is a far better option than anyone else in FA not named Ohtani.
  23. It is baseball everything that can happen or not happen should be expected. The team lost after the first game when their ace couldn't get past the 3rd inning without blowing up. Then their third best pitcher the wheels fell off after the 5th inning. The offense couldn't get going enough to overcome the disappoint in the starters. In playoff baseball your starters have to show up if they don't then you are in trouble no matter how many runs your hitters put up. I get over things really fast also. I was already over the game after about 5 minutes from when it ended.
  24. I said if the Yankees job became available that he would probably take the Yankees job over the Mets. The Yankees job never became available so we will never know if he would have taken it over the Mets job. The Yankees could pay the same as the Mets or even more as they have countless number of times in the past.
  25. This is completely 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% false. Arnold and Counsell are good friends in fact early in the morning in Whitefish Bay you can see them taking walks together and discussing baseball. That doesn't sound like they don't get along with each other. https://www.mlb.com/news/craig-counsell-matt-arnold-work-in-step There are more articles about Counsell's and Arnold's friendship than there is of there being him not getting along with Arnold. I am not sure why everyone is saying the Mets and the Mets are the only team in baseball that will pay big money for a manager. Currently the highest paid manager is only paid about $6m a season with not the Yankees and not the Mets oh wait it is the Dodgers....... Wait are the Dodgers still in Brooklyn? I think they play in Los Angeles now? Anyways your right the only place that will pay a large amount is New York. The Mets only paid Showalter $3.5m wait that has to be typo because we all know Cohan overpays for everything! The real number was $30.5m!!!!! It must be the lying press because we all know Cohan overpays whenever he can! Seriously? You don't believe the Giants, Blue Jays or the White Sox won't pay top dollar for a manager because??? Just because someone can outspend doesn't mean they will. I also don't believe money is the driving point for Counsell I think being in contention for a WS is the driving point for Counsell and the way the Mets are currently constructed with no starting pitching and an aging core is not that appealing even at $10-15m a year if your goal is to be contending for a WS. I don't believe Counsell will want to be on a rebuild which I think is what Stearns is going to do with the Mets. He is going to go out and get the players he wants and I wouldn't be surprised if Stearns shakes up the whole roster by trading some of the vets on that team though I am not sure he will be able to get much for Lindor. For WS aspirations the Blue Jays make the most sense. They have under performed offensively with the talent they have with Vlad, Bichette and others. Toronto is also not afraid of giving out big contracts so hiring Counsell to a hefty contract to be their manager wouldn't be surprising at all. Toronto is also very similar to what the Brewers have now though with more talented hitters. The Giants are also another team that wouldn't be afraid of spending money on Counsell or on the team either as they are rumored to be a team willing to spend on Ohtani this off season. The Blue Jays should probably be the favorites if they let go of their current manager for Counsell as the team would be willing to spend both on players to improve their team and on a manager to get them over the hump in the playoffs.
