  1. That was extremely hard to read and read as an opinion piece with very little actual information written.
  2. That could work but I think you need to get closer to $20m. So maybe 2/$16-18m is probably closer. Even at 2/$13m you could pitch it as rehab for $1m and then $12m in year two which would be just over his arbitration estimate for '24. I think you need to get closer to $3m for year one and then something closer to $13-15m in year two. So a 2/$16m would work with $3m in year one and then $13m in year two.
  3. Just remove the NL and AL from it and go with the best 16 teams. This would also require realignment and would probably need to come with expansion which looks like it is on track right now for 2028 or 2030. Add two more teams to the league and remove the NL and AL along with the divisions. Everyone plays everyone at least twice and you play your geographically located teams four times for two home and two away series. The top 16 teams advance to the playoffs for the WS and the bottom 16 teams play for the number one pick with reverse order standings 16th ranked team gets the number 1 seed etc... The number one pick tournament is a single game elimination and will be held at the following cities (Milwaukee, Houston, Phoenix, Las Vegas, LA, SD, Seattle, Miami, Toronto or Arlington) if they are not in the number one pick tournament. The top four teams get the top four picks in the draft with the winner getting the #1 pick. In the number one pick tournament teams can use anyone on their 40-man roster or minor league system and are limited to 30 players. Seeding for the WS is based on record only. The first two rounds are a 2-game series the lower seed needs to win 2-games to advance and the higher seed only needs to win one game all games are played at the higher seeds park. The final two rounds are 7-game series and follow the normal rules. So this year it would have looked like this: 1. Braves 2. Orioles 3. Dodgers 4. Rays 5. Brewers 6. Astros 7. Rangers 8. Phillies 9. Blue Jays 10. Mariners 11. Twins 12. Marlins 13. D'backs 14. Cubs 15-16. Padres/Yankees/Reds I think this allows the teams with the best records in the regular season to have an extreme advantage in the first two rounds while punishing the lower seeded teams. Also a Phillies Blue Jays series would have been an epic match up in the first round of the playoffs.
  4. I think it is more that they need a pass rusher and currently have zero on their team. Young would make them better on the defensive side of things. But if they could get Young for a couple of 2nd or 3rd round picks it wouldn't be a bad idea to do it. If they have to give up any of their first round picks then yeah it is a stupid idea.
  5. The second year could also be an option year based on a physical. The Brewers would just have to include a buyout if that were the case. The ceiling doesn't really need to be all that high for it to work in the Brewers favor. If Woodruff returns healthy and is able to pitch like he is able to $13-16m for one year is rather favorable for the Brewers considering what you would have to pay in FA for that.
  6. Chase Young to Da Bears? https://sports.yahoo.com/rumor-chase-young-linked-bears-014530382.html I wouldn't give up more than a couple of 2nd round picks but knowing the Bears it will be one of their 1st round picks if not both.
  7. That was a bad punt.
  8. Do you go for two if you score a TD? Depending on the time left of course.
  9. There are a lot of 5-Star QB recruits who become bad QB’s. Majority of his success is because of his WR’s. It is also not just one half he looked bad last week against PSU.
  10. Locke is the better QB of bad QB’s.
  11. He has poor mechanics and poor vision. I am not sure how he hasn’t been picked more.
  12. Ohio State QB is bad. He wouldn’t even have all that good of stats if he didn’t have the receivers he has. Feels weird having the better QB.
  13. I wonder how reliable space mining could be? I mean technologically we are almost there. No this is not science fiction there are actual companies out there doing the research and planning to test in space soon. https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/10/space-is-starting-to-look-like-the-better-mining-operation/?utm_source=pocket-newtab-en-us If we plan to go fully EV and you don't want to stripe mine nearly the whole planet then you will need to mine in space. Asteroids make the least amount of sense to me but I don't believe the moon nor Mars have the mineral deposits we need for EV's. So as of right now unless there has been new information on mineral deposits on the moon or Mars. I would think a moon base would be needed first before we could even start mining asteroids unless the plan is to mine near Earth objects? I don't believe this would be a feasible investment now but maybe in the next 10-15 years?
  14. I don’t believe Woodruff would want to go more than two years unless the Brewers did a long term contract like five or six years. Something around two years and $20mm sounds about right.
  15. Houston should be next and maybe San Diego and don’t count out Toronto.
  16. Now if we could only get Connaughton and Giannis to stop shooting bad 3's we will be set. Connaughton is still bad at help defense he leaves his man when there is no chance to help and it gets thrown in the corner where he left his assignment for an easy 3. The bad Bucks offense showed up in the game a lot. This is the give Giannis the ball and everyone else play statue offense. It doesn't work and hasn't worked. Giannis should not be on the floor if Dame/Middleton are not on the floor. The offense is just horrible when this happens. It is everyone standing around watching Giannis drive into 3-4 defenders and then Giannis taking a bad shot or losing his dribble while driving.
  17. I agree. I still think something like 2-years $20mm should be good and just pay him the majority of the salary in '25 as a team option with a buyout. So in 2024 Woodruff would get paid $4-6mm and then in 2025 he would get the remaining or whatever the buyout would be.
  18. Probably just extended looks on EBJ and Clarke. Didn't EBJ have an injury this year and missed some time?
  19. Pretty obvious that the 4th is going to be Dame's offense to run. Which turns out it is going to be a really good idea because Giannis still sucks at shooting FT's.
  20. Their fans are the equivalent of the Cardinals, Yankees or Red Sox and sometimes as annoying as Cubs fans.
  21. The Bucks offense looks bad without Dame in the game. With just Giannis on the court the offense looks exactly like it was last year. Everyone standing around waiting for Giannis to do something.
  22. Yes and they added that Cleveland has also requested to interview CC. I think you can add the Padres and Astros to the list to request for an interview. Cleveland isn’t afraid to pay managers a top amount. So don’t count them out to give CC a large contract.
  23. No we need an offense like the Phillies otherwise you can’t make the WS!
  24. I am more confident now that CC will be the Astros manager for the 2024 season. The Astros want a manager who is more analytical. CC fits this perfectly and he won’t have to deal with the media in NYC. CC is going to get paid wherever he goes but the Astros and maybe the Blue Jays are far far far far better teams than the Mets are. Will CC really want to step into a team that is basically a minefield? One that could be going through a rebuild? I don’t believe CC will be interested in the Mets job and will be more interested in the Astros job. By far the Astros are a better team than the Mets. World Series wise the Astros will be one of the favorites again. Why would CC pick the Mets over the Astros if he is interested in winning a WS?
  25. Very much so. Maybe he can up the Brewers payroll?
