  1. I still believe methane is probably the best option at least for heavy equipment. Methane when mixed correctly can have lower emissions than diesel. The diesel engines would also be a lot easier and cheaper to upgrade and adapt to accept methane. The US also has a lot of methane either naturally or from our large landfills. It is also a good renewable when mixed correctly to emit lower green house gases. I don't think methane is a good source for consumers but for heavy construction equipment and even semi trucks this would be an improvement over diesel without sacrificing efficiency. I think for hydrogen the biggest improvement for that will be with airplanes especially commercial jet airplanes.
  2. Because 1st round picks are extremely volatile in the MLB draft. It has more to do with a draft as a whole plus international players. Which the Angels have mostly ignored except for recently and other than Shohei they have all been busts so far. You need to be able to draft and develop players in all of the rounds which the Brewers have been able to do with Burnes, Woodruff, Ashby and others. Garrett Mitchell also has 1.3 WAR in only 44 games. Frelick has also put up 0.4 WAR in only 4 games so far. Wiemer has put up 1.3 WAR in 99 games so far but is not a 1st round pick. First round picks can be very volatile just take the 2017 draft as an example the Brewers took Hiura 9th overall and he has a fwar of 2.9 while the Angels took Jo Adell with the 10th pick for a -1.5 fWAR. If you go by just WAR the Angels haven't really out performed the Brewers by much and if you take all of their 1st round picks into consideration the Brewers are actually better and that is mostly due to Adell and his negative fWAR.
  3. Could also move Peralta to the bullpen if the Brewers acquire another starter.
  4. If the Cardinals decide to trade Arenado it will be for pitching and unfortunately the Brewers just don't have the prospects to outbid anyone other than a few teams who wouldn't be trading for Arenado. The Dodgers would easily be able to match and beat any offer the Brewers put out there for Arenado even if the Brewers included Chourio in the deal.
  5. I doubt there will be much out there to target. Maybe you can get the White Sox to listen on Jimenez or maybe you can get the A's to listen on Soderstrom. I think the A's and the Brewers lineup fairly well for an off season trade either Wiemer/Mitchell to the A's for Soderstrom. That could be a possibility for a deadline deal also. Though I don't think the Brewers would trade Wiemer now but in the off season that could be a possibility.
  6. The Braves replaced Acuna's production in 2021 when he went down with multiple band aids. Acquiring all star talent is not needed. You can acquire players that improve your situation moderately and have it be a better move. In 2021 which trades would you have done if you were the Braves acquiring 4 OF's (Pederson, Soler, Duval and Rosario) versus Bryant or Turner and Scherzer? The acquiring of Pederson, Soler, Duval and Rosario basically won the WS for the Braves in 2021. The Giants acquiring Bryant got them a divisional title but were beat out by the Dodgers. The Dodgers then get killed by the Braves in 6 games. Sometimes giving up premium talent for all stars is just not worth it. The return on investment for the Braves was far better than what the Dodgers and Giants got in return.
  7. The Dodgers do have what the Cardinals would be looking for and that is pitching something the Brewers farm system is lacking.
  8. That would be a good get but it is hard to nail down a price for him. Will probably have to overpay to get him and I am not sure it would be worth it.
  9. Not to mention you don't need to acquire all star talent to get an improvement. The Braves did this in 2021 by acquiring 0 All Star talent and yet won the WS. The biggest trade Sherzer and Turner didn't improve the Dodgers all that much and they didn't make it to the WS and lost to the team that didn't get an All Star type of talent at the deadline. There are other examples of this also.
  10. I am assuming this means either Winker will be DFA'd after he returns from the IL or Tellez is going to take longer to return.
  11. For as bad as Peralta has been he somehow still has a 13.7% SwStr% which is 10th in the league for starting pitchers. So there is some underlying data that Peralta should be pitching better than he has. For the month of July he has been the 4th best starting pitcher by the same stat:
  12. The Astros probably make more sense here. Not sure on the return it is hard to figure out what Caratini would be worth.
  13. Obviously the hype would be higher if he played for those teams but I think most would still say they are maybes for the HoF with the stats they have put up. I think both Greinke and Votto deserve to be in as they are some of the better players for their generation. I don't compare players to past generations as it is unfair to both the past HoF players and the player being talked about for the HoF. Each player should be judged based on their generation and not on past generations as the game changes from each generation. There are very few players who would be HoF worthy in all generations.
  14. So the Fed did raise the rates yesterday and they are looking to do more. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-07-26/fed-raises-rates-to-22-year-high-leaves-door-open-for-more#xj4y7vzkg Probably another 25BP raise at some point between Oct-Dec. I think it would be a bad idea to raise the rates again in Q4 but I think that is when the Fed is targeting another raise. I don't expect a rate reduction until 2025 at the earliest and we will probably see at least one or two more rate hikes in 2024. This will all depend on inflation and how the economy is performing overall.
  15. Even with taking Yelich's NTC out it would be very difficult to find a trading partner to take on this contract. I think the best option would probably be a swap of Yelich for Scherzer or someone similar. You would have to take on a equally bad contract to move Yelich even with his improved play this year assuming the Brewers are not paying for part of Yelich's contract. Even if the Brewers take on part of Yelich's contract the return would be less than what Yelich provides to the team and unless the Brewers are only paying 5% or less of Yelich's remaining contract the savings wouldn't be worth it.
  16. I mean he is not wrong they are hall of very good but I love the remarks from Votto they are rather funny. I think Votto has a career as an announcer once he retires hopefully not at ESPN. He would be rather good on the national TV and I would prefer him over Smoltz and whoever else MLB has now. Votto and Greinke are both maybe HoF with compelling arguments for in or out.
  17. I am not surprised his face kind of screams inappropriate locker room behavior.
  18. He is currently hitting less than them and all of his underlying stats seem to confirm that he is performing within what he is doing right now. I don't think he is worth a flier even at AAA.
  19. For Hader sure if the price is right. I would stay away from Snell as that is going to be pricey and I don't think the returns would be equal to or better than the prospect capital being given up.
  20. Giolito may not have been a superstar but he was definitely worthy of the prospect ranking. When you get 10+ WAR from a pitcher that is something you would expect out of a highly ranked prospect. I haven't looked but I assume out of all the pitching prospects ranked when Giolito was ranked he is probably in the top 10 if not in the top 3 of just about everything compared to his peers when ranked.
  21. This would also be a year where the Brewers have a comp A pick. So after the first round assuming Adames, Burnes and Woodruff all decline their QO and sign with another team that would be 4 picks after the 1st round for the Brewers in ‘25. A bit of a gamble but no more than gambling on the prospects you would get in return via trades.
  22. Another 25BP raise is rumored to occur. It is supposed to be today but haven’t seen anything yet from the FED.
  23. Give it a year or two and he is probably their head coach. Another possibility could be Iowa or Michigan State.
  24. The Brewers were willing to trade with the Cubs for Bryant or Rizzo. The Cubs on the other hand were not willing to trade Bryant specifically to a rival because of optics. It is why they got a poor return on Bryant. I would stay far away from DeJong and Anderson.
  25. Leonhard will be joining the University of Illinois as a senior football analyst. https://theathletic.com/4719797/2023/07/25/jim-leonhard-illinois-football-wisconsin/?source=user_shared_article
