    It is the same as Scherzer's. So the Mets will have Scherzer and Verlander both at about $43m at the top of their rotation. Scherzer at 38 and Verlander at 39 that is an old top of the rotation.

    No he hasn't said anything as I don't believe it has been brought up. I am assuming he would want starting SS money to make the move. The same happened with Machado I believe when he moved from SS to 3B. Turang at 3B offensively I would be fine with. Defensively he fits better at 2B/SS. On June 1st it would give him 126 days on the roster from June 1st to the end of the season. That would be cutting it close I think. So yeah maybe the 2nd week of June would definitely keep him from being a Super 2.

    For Super Two Status for 2022 it is set at 2.128 years of service time. So I think around June would put them in a safe spot to get that extra year of service time. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/super-two-status-set-at-2-128-years-of-service.html We won't know what 2023 will be set at until November of '23. I don't believe Turang will be on the opening day roster with Toro being included in this trade. I think Toro, Brosseau and Urias will platoon at 3B and 2B to start the year. I wouldn't be surprised if Urias is the permanent 2B if he is playing well. Third base could be an issue though with Toro and Brosseau. I am not sure Turang would be able to fix that as I don't think he profiles all that well at 3B offensively. I think at best you could have a Mark Loretta type with Turang at 3B though with less power and more speed. It maybe best to extend Adames and give him SS money to play 3B and move Turang to SS with Urias at 2B.

    That is really surprising. From all of the articles that I read it sounded like JL was gone. Maybe he is just comfortable at UW because I am not sure loyalty really describe this.

    There was an interview with Fickel over at the Athletic where he has talked with JL and they were supposed to meet again this week. The way it read and from how Fickel was describing the talks with JL is that he is probably not coming back. The decision is all on JL if he wants to come back but it sounded like JL wouldn't be the DC if he would come back. I think JL is leaving and that is OK with me. He is a great DC but I think he wants to be a HC somewhere and I believe he will go somewhere where he can go from DC to HC. I don't see JL going to the NFL and I think he will go to Nebraska or to an SEC team. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the HC job at Colorado or Stanford. Stanford would be very similar to UW recruiting wise.

    But this is a problem for nearly every team in the NFL for the last 5-10 years. There are very few teams that play press defense on third down even when it is just 5-yards to go. A lot of 3-yard pass plays going for 10-20 yard gains because teams don't play press defense anymore. I think it has to do with the rub plays and the NFL not really doing anything about it other than the NFL telling the refs to just call the obvious ones. Those rub plays can make a 3-12 look like a 3-1 because of how effective they can be and the lack of calls by the ref's. I don't see the NFL hampering the offensive side of the ball and if they do make any more rule changes it will be at the detriment of the defense than it will be for the offense.

    Gallo should be in the Brewers price range. He could be a good buy low type of a player. Duvall could be another buy low option if he is healthy that is.

    Mertz was also a 4-star recruit. I think the rankings are a little bit irrelevant when it comes to QB's especially if you are not able to get a 4-star performance out of the recruit like the Badgers have done with Mertz.

    I think the biggest reason the UW went with Fickell over JL is because they are moving away from the Wisconsin way or at least trying something different. I believe Allen, Mertz, Herbig, Dike and others will all be gone either through the transfer portal or declaring for the draft (Herbig). That is a lot of holes to fill. If JL is not back as the DC then there could be a exodus of players on the defensive and probably on the offensive side. I think the Badgers are going to be the worst team in the B10 in 2023 and they will be lucky to win 4 games. Even with all of the players coming back this team is probably still just a 5 or 6 win team at best.

    Whoever the HC will be they will be stepping into a bad recruiting class and will need at least 2-3 years before you can even judge the HC. PC really left this team in a bad spot.

    Garbage O-line strikes again!!! 25 yards in penalties in the last few plays. Going from 1st and goal at the 5 to the 30 yard line with no chance. All on the O-line again. This has to be the worst OL in a long time.

    Renfroe was either going to be traded or kept on the team. The problem is that his value will equal about what his salary will be so there is no surplus to trade from. Which is why the return is rather light for a really good hitter. Renfroe has a value of about $12m and his expected salary is about $11m. I believe the Brewers think they can get something close to what Renfroe provided with Taylor, Frelick, Ruiz and Mitchell at a lower cost. It is a risky bet but we also don't know if the Brewers will use Renfroe's money on anyone yet.

    After Jon Budmayr left last year for an OC position the Badgers have been without a QB coach. I think PC or Engram took that over in this year. I think they need to find a permanent QB coach and Engram should be good with WR / TE as he has coached them in the past. I think having Engram as the OC and having him calling plays on offense would help a lot. Maybe skip a defensive coordinator and add more individual coaches for WR, DL, LB and DB's? That might be too much for JL to do as the HC but most HC's are calling offensive plays and not defensive plays. Wouldn't it be better to just let JL take the defensive duties and let Engram take over the offensive side of things? This is assuming Engram is going to stay.
