  1. The $4 gas prices were nice while they lasted. Should see an increase at the pump around December with OPEC now deciding to cut production. Probably will see gas prices around $5-6 as an average starting in December. The Fed is definitely going to have to rethink its rate hike if oil goes north of $110 a barrel.
  2. The bring everyone mostly back but pay a lot for bullpen and fill holes scenario. Mark A would have to open up his wallet a lot for this to happen and I don't think many of these moves are realistic. But I am bored so...... Free Agent signings: David Robertson 2-years $19m Aroldis Chapman 1-year $10m Michael Fulmer 3-years $16m Nolan Arenado 5-years $165m Christian Vazquez 3-years $27m Dansby Swanson 6-years $140m Jace Peterson 3-years $11m Trades: Urias to Mariners for Berroa (RHP), Clase (OF) and Perez Jr. (1B). Adames to Dodgers for Stone (RHP), Bruns (LHP) and Leonard (SS) Hiura and Small to the A's for Puk and Brown Taylor Position players: 1B: Tellez, Brown and Brosseau 2B: Turang and Peterson SS: Swanson and Turang 3B: Arenado, Brosseau and Peterson OF: Yelich, Renfroe, Brown, Mitchell and Frelick C : Vazquez and Caratini Lineup: 1. Yelich (DH) 2. Swanson (SS) 3. Arenado (3B) 4. Tellez (1B) 5. Renfroe (RF) 6. Frelick (LF) 7. Vazquez (C) 8. Mitchell (CF) 9. Turang (SS) Rotation: Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer and Houser/Gasser (when ready) Bullpen: Robertson, Chapman, Fulmer, Puk, Williams, Milner and Cousins/Strzeleki Like I said some of these are probably not realistic and I don't see the Brewers spending anywhere close to what I have put down. I just did this for fun if money wasn't an issue. Lots of money spent and since it is the Brewers they go 62-100.
  3. That has to be really rare getting your first hit and last hit as a home run on the same team.
  4. Kind of down on Small but here is my list: 1 Jackson Chourio OF 2 Sal Frelick OF 3 Garrett Mitchell OF 4 Jeferson Quero C 5 Brice Turang SS 6 Joey Wiemer OF 7 Robert Gasser LHP 8 Esteury Ruiz OF 9 Eric Brown SS 10 Tyler Black 2B 11 Carlos Rodriguez RHP 12 Hendry Mendez OF 13 Jacob Misiorowski RHP 14 Jace Avina OF 15 Stiven Cruz RHP 16 Eduardo Garcia SS 17 Hedbert Perez OF 18 Mario Feliciano C 19 Zavier Warren 1B 20 Ethan Small LHP
  5. Would be their first time picking #1 also so not going to happen just because of that. I haven't read the rules on the ping pong lottery but I am wondering if it is possible for them to pick in the top 6 if they don't get the 1st pick? I think the NBA eliminates anyone outside the top 5 from winning a spot outside of #1. But it has been awhile since I looked at the rules for both.
  6. It was kind of obvious but yeah. The Yankees lineup doesn't really look like a playoff team if you look at just batting average.
  7. Just based off of averages is this a playoff team or no? AVG 0.311 0.245 0.263 0.257 0.225 0.224 0.226 0.217 0.261 0.211 0.159 0.183
  8. It doesn't sound like Leipold is all that interested in leaving Kansas. At least he says he has no plans on leaving I am not sure if that is just coach talk or what but maybe he is serious and wants to stay at Kansas.
  9. If he can cut down on the strike outs he should be around a .300 hitter with his speed. Probably more like a .280 or .270 hitter. Hopefully with the reduced strike outs he can get some more walks and have a higher OBP. Mitchell does have the power and the hit tool to be a #3 hitter. Which is what this team sorely needs.
  10. There are a lot of decent FA relievers this offseason. Some that will be out of the Brewers price range but there are a lot of them. Chapman, Jansen, Kimbrel, Britton, Diaz, Knebel, Hand, Fulmer, David Robertson and others. It is actually a pretty good year to look for relief pitching this off season. Some of the top guys will get more than what the Brewers should spend but Robertson, Fulmer, Hand, Rogers, Rosenthal and Kimbrel should all be within the Brewers budget. Could even get two or three from that list and still be below $15m annually.
  11. Not that I hate Hiura but I think it is time for he and the team to go separate ways. He is just too much of an all or nothing player.
  12. Zavier Warren with a 3-run home run! https://www.mlb.com/video/zavier-warren-three-run-home-run
  13. Not much really at that price it would be hard to move him. At $10m and there not being all that much demand for 2B I think the Brewers would have to take on some of the salary to be able to move him for a decent return. Maybe to the Phillies or Angels. The Dodgers would also be a possibility. There are not that many AL teams in need of a 2B the Phillies and Dodgers would probably only be interested if they move on from Segura and T. Turner. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers insisted on the Brewers taking back J. Turner and a prospect to even out the salary difference. The Brewers would be taking on an extra $6m with Turner but I don't think the prospect would be anything more than a lottery ticket.
  14. Unlikely as the players are going to try and pull more. Left handed batters are going to be pulling even more than they have in the past with the elimination of the shift. There maybe more hits that will land because of this but I think pitchers will start pitching left handed hitters away more and watch them weakly hit an out to the 2B who will be in the hole with the SS being more over 2B and the 3B playing where the SS would be normally. It would leave a hole down the line but the left handed hitters are not going to change their approach in pulling everything. Eliminating the shift was a dumb idea and still is a dumb idea.
  15. I didn't say he wasn't healthy, I said if he has another arm injury. Which is part of the calculation of the risk which will bring his value down. Even without taking in the injury risk Puk is still going to be lower than an everyday player. An everyday bat is always going to have more value than a relief pitcher. Puk will also be going into his final year of pre-arb at the age of 28. So he is starting to get older and will start to get expensive for a reliever after 2023. Even at about $2m next year for Hiura that is still a large savings over what can be had in FA. Hiura also provides a skill of hitting for power which is still in high demand. Even if Hiura wouldn't be enough for Puk the Brewers wouldn't have to add all that much more maybe someone like Feliciano to the mix in the trade. Puk's value is not all that high due to him being a reliever. If he was still a starting pitcher he would have a higher value. The two teams matchup even if it is not Hiura for Puk one for one this is still a very fair deal for the A's and the Brewers. Value wise both Hiura and Puk are about the same. If a bat is about the same as a relief pitcher their value is really low.
  16. Puk may have the late inning stuff but he doesn't have much value at all. Value wise Hiura actually has a higher value than him though just barely. Puk's arm injuries are very concerning and he could be done if he has another one. The risk of Puk getting another arm injury is very high which is knocking his value down. I don't see the A's getting anything more than what Hiura is worth which is a surplus value of about $3m. So no the A's are not going to get better offers than Keston Hiura for AJ Puk.
  17. I agree and I think the A's maybe a team that would take the chance on Hiura. Something like Hiura for Puk makes some sense here.
  18. I believe he had an opt out clause. It was a really late one but he had one I believe.
  19. I believe he had an opt out clause. It was a really late one but he had one I believe.
  20. If you non-tender Renfroe then you would probably just want to run with an all rookie OF. All of the OF in FA that are close to Renfroe's skill level will all cost more than the estimated $10m that Renfroe would be getting. The only way you are going to be able to get someone cheaper is to get someone on a bounce back type of a contract. You would have to roll the dice and hope Gallo returns to his former self and can cut down on the strikeouts. Joc Pederson hasn't really been all that much better than Renfroe and career wise they are about equal. I think Pederson is going to get a big pay bump after the year he has had offensively. He should get a 2-4 year contract that should give him an annual salary around $13-17m. Something like 3-years $50m sounds about right for Pederson. I don't see the Brewers paying FA$ on an OF. If they are going to spend money in the OF it will be to keep Renfroe for another year. I don't see the Brewers going after an OF this off season in FA. Maybe they would do Brantley or Haniger but that would be to play them at DH and not in the OF. Here are the possible OF Free Agents and I don't really see any that I would want to pay more than $10m for besides Judge and that is just LOL no chance for the Brewers. LEFT FIELDERS Joey Gallo (29 years old, 4.8 WAR) Andrew Benintendi (28, 4.6) Adam Duvall (33, 3.6) AJ Pollock (35, 3.5) -- Player option David Peralta (35, 3.4) Robbie Grossman (33, 2.1) Aledmys Díaz (32, 2.1) Tommy Pham (35, 2.0) -- Mutual option Joc Pederson (30, 1.9) Jurickson Profar (30, 1.9) -- Player option Corey Dickerson (33, 1.7) Jorge Soler (30, 0.2) -- Can opt out Ben Gamel (30, 0.2) Chad Pinder (31, -0.1) CENTER FIELDERS Aaron Judge (31 years old, 14.8 WAR) Brandon Nimmo (30, 7.4) Kevin Kiermaier (33, 3.7) -- Club option Odubel Herrera (31, 1.9) Lorenzo Cain (37, 1.0) Kevin Pillar (34, 0.8) Jake Marisnick (31, 0.8) Delino DeShields (29, 0.2) Travis Jankowski (32, 0.2) Billy Hamilton (32, 0.1) Shogo Akiyama (34, -0.6) Jackie Bradley Jr. (33, -1.9) -- Mutual option RIGHT FIELDERS Mitch Haniger (32 years old, 2.8 WAR) Wil Myers (32, 2.2) -- Club option Tyler Naquin (32, 1.8) Jorge Soler (30, 0.2) -- Can opt out Chad Pinder (31, -0.1) Dexter Fowler (36, -0.1) Kole Calhoun (35, -0.8) -- Club option Stephen Piscotty (32, -1.0) -- Club option I would really like to see the Brewers trade one of Woodruff or Burnes. I have mentioned before an Orioles trade for Rodriguez/Holliday plus other spare parts. I think the plan should be to retool for 2023 trading away either Burnes or Woodruff and then trying to resign one. I think Woodruff is the more likely resigning as I think that would be in the Brewers price range. I wouldn't be against trading Adames if the right trade comes along but looking at the possible FA SS's this doesn't look like a good year to trade a SS or to be a FA SS. There just are not that many teams that will be looking for a SS. Of the possible contending teams maybe the Cardinals but Arenado's extension may price them out of the FA SS market and I think the Cardinals may look at SP more this offseason than a SS.
  21. There have been some really bad metal bands lately. Tyler Childers is a really good country singer and his music isn’t really your typical or pop-country that is played on the radio.
  22. This team is bad at just about every aspect of the game. I don’t see anyone turning it around this year or even next year. Recruiting needs to improve and the development of players on the offensive side needs to improve. Hopefully Leonard is the guy but I am not sold on him being a head coach. On the offensive side they really need to get someone who can coach QB’s and WR’s. If Leonard can surround him self with some good coaches at the skill positions I think he could be a good enough head coach.
  23. That is just dumb. Non-tendering someone like Renfroe is just stupid and a good way to set your franchise back 5-10 years. There would be plenty of teams who would trade for Renfroe so non-tendering him would be just dumb and foolish to do so. If Renfroe were a free agent he would get more than $10m a season and there would be about 5-10 teams looking to sign him. A 124 wRC+ player is not someone you just non-tender.
