  1. These proposals are way too much. Hiura, Burnes, Turang & Small is like a Jose Ramirez package. Story is projected at 4 WAR & is on a one year 18.5 million contract before hitting free agency. That is around 15-20 million in surplus value. Maybe like Turang as a headliner then some filler. That is what I was thinking, something like Turang, Arcia, Small, and a lottery ticket like Ward for Story. I think that would be more than fair for Story. I wouldn't do the trade as I don't think Story is worth that and I believe his value overly inflated a bit.
  2. Moreland yes Shaw, Lamb or Cron nope.
  3. What are they to get their cap number below $175M and field a 53 man roster? If they franchise Robinson again, that's $16M... The $175m is the cap floor the ceiling is not yet known at this time.
  4. Uggg I really hate Cramer as he is one of the biggest market manipulators.
  5. This is just corporate speak for we really like you but we don't have a position for you so we are going to create a position for you since we like what you bring to the table. For the intern's that I have worked with the ones that we like who don't really fit into a role we basically create a role for them to occupy until they get enough experience to either move on to another role in the company or move into one of our more defined roles. That is all this is nothing more.
  6. Watson has a no trade clause so he can accept or decline and can basically tell the Texans where to trade him. The Texans have very little control of this situation.
  7. I thought the SI story I read this morning had no one else offering more than one first rounder. There was one team that offered 2 1sts and Washington offered their first foe this upcoming draft. Which is better than the 2 1sts that the Rams gave away. I am assuming the 2 1sts were from the Bears and the Lions turned that one down. Earlier reports had the Panthers and Broncos offering multiple 1sts but the article has been edited since to just one 1st.
  8. So the Lions actually received other offers from the Bears, Panthers, and Broncos for Stafford all of them had more 1st round picks going to the Lions than what the Rams offered. If these rumors are true then did the Lions really accept the best offer? Maybe the Lions like Goff more than the picks and that is why they went with the Rams offer. The Panthers are a weird one but the Bears and Broncos makes sense as both teams are looking for QB's. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears end up with either Watson or Wentz and the Broncos probably end up with Wentz as I don't think the Texans will trade Watson to the Broncos. The asking price for Watson is rather steep and the team that Watson really wants to go to is rather confusing (Jets). I don't believe the Bears have the 2 young defensive players to trade to the Texans for Watson, they do have the picks to trade if they wanted to go that route. Actually I am not sure any team has what the Texans are asking for in terms of players that they want.
  9. Should be official now! https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/detroit-lions-trade-matthew-stafford-to-los-angeles-rams-for-two-first-round-picks-jared-goff/
  10. I think the Rams are a real long shot. Feels like the only reason they're showing interest is to drive the price up. Otherwise...what, you pay Goff 30 million to backup Matt Stafford? I don't think Goff's the problem with that team. He's good enough...though Stafford would make 25 or so teams better. Your trade does make sense though. 1st, 2nd and a 4th for Stafford is probably the value I'd put on him and the Pats could send the 4th back for Jimmy G rather than take the chance he goes elsewhere... Pats are DEFINITELY getting Garoppolo back though. And they won't have to give up anything to do it as the reports are nobody is interested in trading for him most likely. And he'll probably win 10 games a year there. Then after winning because of Belichick he'll end up picking a team with two dominant WR'ers, bring in a 3rd, the #1 defense from the previous season and everyone will hail him as a hero! The Packers should be taking note. 3 QB's who took or got their teams in position to go to the SB in the last 5 years(Wentz, Goff and Jimmy G) are not really wanted by their teams any longer, Watson wants out in Houston, the Lions squandered Stafford's career there. You have a good thing going and guy that wants to be there. Push every last chip to the middle... Also, just a side note...so very glad the Bears decided that a career backup with success only in one city was worth THEM signing to be their backup. Otherwise they'd almost be forced to go out and get one of these QBs. As it is, they'll likely stick with Nick Foles and at best end up taking a very high risk QB like Lance or a low risk, low ceiling type QB like Jones in the draft. I cannot articulate enough how much I've enjoyed watching them fail to find a solid QB since the days of Sid Luckman! The Bears have been linked to Watson, Wentz and Garoppolo. Also the Rams have been looking at trading Goff or at least that is what the rumor is so he wouldn't be on the team with Stafford if the Rams do trade for Stafford. I think Jimmy G is the worst QB in all of the ones being talked about being traded so far. I think the three team trade of the 49ers, Lions and Patriots probably happens as it makes a lot of sense for all three teams involved. The Patriots sending a 4th round pick for Jimmy G and the 49ers sending the 1st and 2nd round pick to the Lions for Stafford. This would make the 49ers a really good team but I think it makes the Patriots just a little bit better than they were this season maybe they go 10-6 but I don't see much of an improvement beyond that. I think the Bears are going to get Wentz in a trade with Foles going back to the Eagles to be the backup QB there. I am not sure if that works cap wise for either teams but I have a feeling it will be a Foles plus a 4th round pick to the Eagles for Wentz. Watson I believe goes to the Rams for 2 1st's and Goff. Again I don't think this works cap wise but it is what my gut is telling me that is going to happen. With Goff going to the Texans I believe they keep Watt or at least they won't trade him unless they get a 1st or 2nd round pick for him which I don't believe will happen.
  11. The Athletic is worth the subscription. They have recently unveiled they will have more sports betting information also so if the quality of their articles continue into that realm it is definitely worth paying for the Athletic.
  12. The biggest concern I have with Arenado is his exit velocity maybe it was just the weird season last year but his average exit velocity dropped by about 3 MPH and his launch angle also increased by 3 degrees. Is this the beginning of a trend for Arenado or just part of the weird 2020 season? I am not sure but he is 30 years old now and we do tend to see players start to decline around this age range. If his exit velocity is at 87 MPH again I believe this is going to be a horrible deal for the Cardinals especially if he is not able to stay healthy any kind of injury is going to make this a bad deal for the Cardinals.
  13. Financially for the trade to make sense for the Brewers I think you have to include Garcia in the trade. This makes it more economical for the Brewers but with that the type of prospect coming back to the Cubs will also increase. I think if you are including Garcia you would need to include someone like Small or Kelly and then a lottery ticket like Ward in the trade for Bryant
  14. I think the Dodgers are trying to get someone on a 1-year deal or at most a 2-year deal since they will need to figure out if they want to sign Seager next year or someone else like Lindor or Correa. They could just move Muncy to 3B and that would be the cheaper option which would allow them to sign one of Lindor, Correa or Seager next year in FA. Bryant also makes sense here as it would just be a 1-year deal which would fall in line with their thinking of signing one of Lindor, Correa or Seager next off season. Before the Arenado trade I would put the Brewers chances at 30% of signing Turner and after the Arenado trade I would put it at about a 5% chance of happening now.
  15. I think Stafford will be traded to the Colts also but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the 49ers or the Rams. I could see a three team trade where the 49ers get Stafford, the Patriots getting Garoppolo, and the Lions getting a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick.
  16. I think for a trade with the Padres to work it would looks something like this: Padres get: Hader and Henry Brewers get: Myers, Hassell, Ona, and Weathers With the Padres sending over $8m in cash. Myers solves the 1B issue for the Brewers. The Brewers also get two good OF prospects in Hassell and Ona and a good LHP in Weathers. Probably not the headline that everyone would be looking for in a Hader trade but this is the best that I could come up with in trading with the Padres. Gore and Abrams are off limits in this trade.
  17. Every once in awhile a squirrel finds a blind nut.
  18. Not only did the hedge fund short the stock but they also shorted it for more than there are available shares on the market. I think it was something like 150% of the total shares that can be bought and sold on the market.
  19. But then I will have to listen to the telemarketer tell me about extending my auto warranty. Though sometimes I like messing with them and ask them if they can get a flux capacitor for my mechanic Doc and oh yeah make sure the part is not from some Iranian's they pulled some nefarious actions the last time!
  20. Wasn't sure where to put this but according to McCalvy the Brewers are still working on a local TV deal. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-free-agent-targets-bounceback-players
  21. LOL even Houston's previous GM would say no to that. Probably would need at least one or two more 1st round picks going to Houston for this deal to work.
  22. They have a former chairperson from the SEC on their side so pretty corrupt.
  23. Rumor is Dodgers will pivot to Bryant if they cant re-sign JT. Come on Stearns, swoop him up first! I have a feeling we are going to get the news soon here that JT is re-signing with LA, and the meltdown here will be intense! If we don't get JT, what are the options out there to fill the 3B hole? Gyorko again? Did LaStella sign with SF this week? Who else is out there for us to sign? Gregorius is still available he might be an option at 3B though he probably wants to play SS which I would be fine with as I am not convinced the Brewers will keep Arcia at SS. He is supposedly looking for a 2-year $30m deal or more. I am not sure there are many teams left that can go over that amount or even hit that mark. The Reds and the Phillies are the ones linked to Gregorius but I am not sure the Phillies have the budget room for him after their recent signing of Realmuto. The Reds have been trying to reduce payroll so I don't think they have the budget to add Gregorius at least not at $15m a year. La Stella still hasn't officially signed with the Giants but it is a 3-year ~$19m deal just waiting on the medicals to come back. The Dodgers are kind of stuck I think they really want Arenado and are willing to let Turner walk. I don't think there are many teams out there on Bryant or at least who will be serious in bidding for him. The Cubs are going to have to hold onto him until the deadline and hope he is healthy and plays good otherwise they are not going to get much for him. I think the Mets might look into Bryant but they are going to want him at a discount or have the Cubs pay some of his salary which I don't think will happen unless the Cubs get some prospects they like. As for the Brewers I think it is down to Gyorko or Turner. If the Dodgers are not able to get Arenado they will sign Turner.
  24. Keith Law put up his top 100 prospects today: https://theathletic.com/2338178/2021/01/28/keith-law-top-100-prospects-2021/ Brewers related: 95. Garrett Mitchell, OF, Milwaukee, Age: 22 96. Brice Turang, SS, Milwaukee, Age: 21
  25. The Undertaker was recently on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Not as good as the Jake the Snake episode but still was a good podcast. https://jrelibrary.com/1598-mark-the-undertaker-calaway/
