  1. It doesn't matter if a player has the QB's arm or not the ball has to reach the line of scrimmage or it is grounding.
  2. This looked like a lock to be a loss tonight and then the offense comes alive!
  3. I didn't mind the movie............
  4. Not saying this should be done but.... Lindor and Kluber for Hiura. It makes some sense if you think the Brewers window is closing with Yelich and you want to try and go for broke over the next two years. Probably more of a Melvin move than a Stearns move. The key to the trade here is Kluber if he is healthy and good to go next year that is a #1 pitcher and the rotation looks rather nice with Kluber and Woodruff at the top of the rotation. Lindor also looks real good in the lineup with Yelich. Not something I would do but this would be going all in for the next two years with Yelich and if you add in someone like Castellanos or Donaldson and the offense looks really good.
  5. David Price's name keeps on coming up in the rumor mill. If Price becomes available and the Red Sox want a team to take on all of his salary a Price for Arcia trade would be about fair.
  6. This deal makes no sense for the Mets at all. Maybe this works in a video game but not in reality.
  7. It is legal as Thames had in his contract the Brewers would not be able to offer him arbitration even though he would qualify for it. The same can be done with the QO. Even if it wasn't legal I doubt a team is going to go back on their word and look stupid doing so. If the team did this it would make it extremely difficult for them to acquire and keep players especially free agents.
  8. I would take Andujar and another lower level prospect with Happ.
  9. I would take Contreras over Rizzo.
  10. It would be more likely he would be moved to 1B than 3B. Not something I am advocating for just what I would see as a possibility.
  11. Contreras being gone would be awesome. The Cubs will be kicking themselves if they trade Contreras. When Contreras went down with an injury the Cubs offense died a bit and didn't fully come back to life until he came back. Bryant looks like he is going to be a 1B as he ages so it would be smart for the Cubs to get rid of him. Contreras though I hope the Cubs trade him and he is out of the division as he is the better overall player.
  12. Keuchel is far better than Davies was and is. Davies ceiling was Keuchel but he never reached that ceiling and probably won't. I was a big Davies fan and Davies is not anywhere close to what Keuchel is. Keuchel is a legit #1 or #2 pitcher with history of being that #1 or #2 type pitcher. Having Woodruff as the #1 followed by Keuchel is a good start to a rotation. If you want strike outs you can gamble on Bumgarner being Verlander but I believe he will be closer to 2018 Felix Hernandez than he will be closer to 2018 or 2019 Verlander. The only other option that would be realistic is Kluber but the problem here is the Brewers don't have the prospects to get him from the Indians. Price is another player who can get you strike outs but that is a $96m gamble and if it doesn't pay off you are looking at having to trade Yelich next off season while also watching Price stinking it up. I don't think the Brewers are 1 pitcher away either as the Brewers need another bat and at least one more bullpen arm. So that means you either gamble on Price or Kluber only and hope they are the missing piece or you can spend money on Keuchel, plus a bullpen arm and another bat like Castellanos. Keuchel, bullpen arm and Castellanos just has a higher value than only one of Bumgarner/Price/Kluber. The Brewers need to spread their money out and signing someone like Keuchel gives you the opportunity to do so.
  13. I agree with this assessment. And a 5 year/$100M investment won't be that crippling. I think Bumgarner will turn out to be more like Felix Hernandez than Verlander plus once the Yankees sign Cole the Angels will be going hard after Bumgarner. Unless you are willing to pay Bumgarner somewhere around $22m a season or more you are not getting him.
  14. With Strasburg done here are my predictions for the rest of the big name starting pitchers out there: Cole: 10-years $340m Yankees yes that is $34m a year for a pitcher Bumgarner: 5-years $120m Angles Keuchel: 3-years $51m Brewers (2-years guaranteed with the 3rd being a mutual option) Kluber is available in a trade but the Brewers don't have anything that the Indians would want unless the Brewers are willing to give up Hiura for Kluber beyond that there isn't really a match. The Indians are also not going to give Kluber away for free or at a discount. Price is also another interesting possibility his contract would be perfect for the Red Sox to flip to get under the tax along with Eovaldi. If the Brewers think Eovaldi can be fixed you could only have to give up Arcia to get him maybe even less. I wanted Keuchel last year and I still want him now. Realistically Keuchel is the best pitcher the Brewers could end up with right now. Bumgarner is going to be out of the question I wouldn't even get any where close to $100m for him as he is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a fall like Felix Hernandez where he is a 5+ ERA pitcher after year two of his next contract. Basically you will have Garza but at a higher rate on your hands which will set the Brewers back by 2-3 years.
  15. I am actually disappointed by this. I wanted the Badgers to play Auburn I will still watch the Rose Bowl because it is the Badgers but Wisconsin vs Auburn would have been a better game to watch.
  16. Assuming you don't have kids or a significant other then I would take the smaller house with the job that has better possibility of advancement but that is me.
  17. This defense is dead the second time this has happened against Ohio State. No dline push poor tackling by everyone. Something needs to change.
  18. Coan has looked really good so far this game. If it wasn't for some drops it would be even better.
  19. I am just not seeing a market for Ozuna and he may just bet on himself like Grandal did and go that route.
  20. I think the Brewers will go with Ozuna on a 1-year deal over a multi year deal with Castellanos.
  21. I believe Toronto is the team that has submitted this offer to Wheeler. I don't see the Brewers getting into this bidding at this price for this player. If Wheeler didn't have the risk of him falling apart due to injuries I believe they would be in on him if the injury concerns weren't there.
  22. The Reds are going to be hating the contract after the first year. Moustakas is not worth 4-years and $64m and I am glad the Brewers did not resign Moustakas at anywhere close to what he got. Also it doesn't look like the owners are "colluding" this year.
  23. It is the Millennials part that is misleading the real cause is the demand for the trees. The article in the article actually has a better headline: Here's why your Christmas tree will cost more this year. The first is stating that Millenials are the cause for the cost of Christmas trees rising when in fact it is just the demand for the trees. It is just worded badly that is making it misleading. Changing the title to What is driving up the cost of Christmas trees? would have been better and less misleading as the article barely even touches on Millenials and it doesn't even make a link just a may be this is a reason argument.
  24. I completely hated Ad Astra and I can't remember why but I hated it.
  25. This is economics 101 supply and demand. Why is it so hard for the news outlets to understand this? Directly from the article: Because of the increase in demand, the cost of a tree has also risen. It pays to read beyond the headline. Yes I saw that it still doesn't change the fact that the headline is just completely misleading and mostly just click bait marketing.
