  2. The Red Sox haven't been going big in free agency the past few years. In 2016 it really is Carp and probably for next year it is also Carp so yes he is in their plans for the future. The Red Sox don't have a 1B prospect better than Carp. The Red Sox also love his versatility that he brings so he will play in the OF also. Brock Holt is also 26 years old right now so he isn't much of an option either and his current hot streak is going to end and he will be around a 700 OPS player nothing great but good as a back up OF or infielder. The Red Sox are not going to give up Carp for anything less than what it would take to get Napoli. Even with the year that Carp is having the Red Sox are just not going to sell low on him. You are going to have to pay to get Carp and the amount that you will have to pay for the Red Sox to give him up is just way too much for what you are getting in return. If anything you will be able to talk the Red Sox down in a major prospect Bradley or Jungmann and a B-/C+ type prospect is probably all that it would take if the Brewers would take on all of Napoli's salary. In contrast it is going to take a Nelson+ to get Carp. Are you willing to give up Nelson+ just to get Carp? I just do not see the Red Sox giving up Carp who is a very cheap alternative. At most the Red Sox are going to have to pay Carp $3m next year which is not cheap but that is still a rather good value for the Red Sox for the Brewers that is a non tender candidate. Napoli for 1.5 years > Carp for one year and giving up a major prospect.
  3. The Red Sox are not going to trade Carp as he is in their long term plans. It would take more to get him than it would take to get Napoli. What long term plans is he in? To be the back-up to back-up Brock Holt? Brock Holt is not a mainstay in Boston as I don't believe Holt is going to keep his hot streak up at best you are looking at a .700 OPS player in Holt which is about the same as Carp. The Red Sox had plenty of opportunities to trade Carp in the off season and before the season they did not because he is in their long term plans. Once Napoli leaves either this year or after next season the Red Sox really do not have many options at 1B thus they need Carp and Holt. In order for the Red Sox to listen on a trade for Carp you are looking at giving up a player like Nelson which is an extreme overpay. The Red Sox are not going to trade Carp.
  4. Sometime after the all star break. The Brewers are not going to risk the super 2 status with Nelson.
  5. The Red Sox are not going to trade Carp as he is in their long term plans. It would take more to get him than it would take to get Napoli.
  6. What would it take to get Mike Napoli from the Red Sox? The Red Sox are currently 8 games back in the AL East and 6 games back for one of the AL Wild Card spots. Would the Red Sox blow up the team and trade Napoli? He does have one more year left on his contract so it would be for the rest of this year and next year. If it would only cost the Brewers a Jungmann/Bradley, Roache, and a someone like Nick Ramirez or Ariel Pena I would definitely do that deal but I think it might take more than that or this might be an overpay with Napoli's injury concerns and his age. I wouldn't trade Nelson, Taylor, or Coulter but everyone else I would at least put them on the table to be traded. I am not sure the Red Sox will do this and this is probably just a pipe dream at this point.
  7. So is the Smart pick by the Celtics meant for the T-wolves to add to their PG team?
  8. If you haven't seen Star Citizen yet (PC) you should really check it out. Love this game and it is nearly 100% crowd funded as there are some private investors. The game has currently reached about $47 million dollars funded. Some of the commercials for the ships:
  9. It was at Coors so only giving up 6 runs is not all that bad. He still will be in the rotation and he has until at least the all star break to snap out of the funk he is in. If not it will be Nelson then and not any time sooner.
  10. If you mean gut the farm system then yes the Brewers have the talent to get Price.
  11. Gibson receives the dumbest manager of the year award with that move. Gibson needs to be suspended as this was clearly intentional.
  12. Nelson is not an option until after the All Star Break so the Brewers are stuck with Estrada or Fiers both are the same pitcher and I would rather just stick with Estrada over Fiers.
  13. Yes as he brings better defense and offense than Gennett does. A 2.5 WAR would be a career year for Gennett. At best Gennett is a 1 WAR player with his defense probably bringing him to a negative WAR. Gennett has to be platooned while Hill does not.
  14. Probably around the All Star break for Nelson as I don't see the Brewers wanting Nelson to reach super 2 status. I would just stick with Marco the only other realistic option being Fiers who is basically the same pitcher as Marco.
  15. I would rather have Hill or Prado over Chavez. Prado can play multiple positions and I would rather have Hill over Gennett and Weeks at 2B.
  16. Beltre runs to left field to avoid tag
  17. Cederoth with the 50th pick? He is probably going to be a closer but the potential is there to be a top of the rotation starter if he can command his pitches. There is also the Canadian pick Morgan, Gareth. Suarez, Andrew could be an interesting pick along with Byler, Austin.
  18. I hate the Braves! The next players I like are Fisher, Derek; Reed, A.J.; Forbes, Tiquan; and Gettys, Michael
  19. The only player I like in that group is Ortiz. I would take Braxton Davidson over the last two you mentioned and over all but Ortiz in the first group.
  20. Fernandez would not have signed with the Brewers if they drafted him. It was the Marlins or nobody in the MLB Draft that year. I think this is a little bit of a reach here but if the Brewers can get a discount on the pick it should be a very good pick. I think the Brewers go with a bat with their next pick.
  21. Pentecost has been compared to being as good defensively and offensively as Lucroy. Pentecost has power for a catcher probably around 20 hr's a year type of a player. Which is definitely good enough for the 12th pick.
  22. I don't believe the Brewers have the pieces to trade for Price. I also don't believe there are many teams out there that do have the pieces that it would take for a Price trade. This really sucks for Tampa as the teams that have the talent to trade for Price really are not in it right now. I don't see the Rangers getting involved and I am not sure the Mariners will either. That leaves the Rays with the Jays, Marlins, Brewers, Cardinals, Yankees, Red Sox, and the Tigers as possible suitors. Right now would be a good time to trade Price as there are more teams in contention but I just don't see any team giving up the pieces needed to get Price. The Yankees farm system is not all that great and they don't really have that much impact talent in their farm system. The Red Sox have some nice pieces but will they give them up for Price? I don't think they will. The Cardinals have pieces but most of them already have MLB service time which is not something you want to trade for if you are Tampa. The Brewers have most of their talent in A ball or lower and the only piece that is above A ball is Nelson and I don't see the Brewers trading Nelson + to the Rays for Price. The Marlins are probably the best option but I don't see them giving up the talent to get Price. I am not sure the Jays and the Tigers have what it would take to get Price. I just don't see the Rays as being a good trading partner for the Brewers. None of their players that they have available are anyone that I would target in a trade.
