  1. I would be opposed to it. TG needs to be at 3rd or 2nd. Those are his best positions. I would prefer Gamel at 1st and Green at 3rd over vice versa. Green is the better defensive player.
  2. I would love to have Kendall back next year....as the bullpen catcher. But even that might be too close to being on the bench... :P
  3. I wonder what the "Show you your seat" guy behind the visitors dugout will come up with... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Plus he has Lucroy at Grade B (noting the "C" is his position), thus ahead of Dykstra.
  5. Well, if we keep Hardy and trade Escobar, we would be looking at Prince (the other one) at SS in two years. Not sure he is a slam dunk MLB talent yet. Not saying yes or no either way, just thinking about future options. I have a feeling that the MiLB time for Hardy this year burnt a bridge, however. I would be surprised if they don't trade him. DOA - did you just pick Veronica over Betty (being contrarian)? Unthinkable! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Of course, trading McGehee could give Heether an opening...
  7. I'm detecting theme this year at BF.net: Finding the posers from the studs: - Which did we see this year? The real Lopez, Hart, Hardy, Parra, McGehee or a mirage? Which for a site filled with Arm-Chair-GMs (not a slam, I consider myself one), that is expected. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Since Casey never slugged like this in the minors, I've got to believe he will regress. That won't be a surprise to the Brewers or anyone else. But he is also succeeding where Gamel has not (why does this invoke thoughts of Flynn vs. Brohm from the Lambeauleap.net discussion?). Personally, I don't see it as an A vs. B option. You have Weeks/Lopez at 2B, where some have said Lopez could play 3B (or Weeks?). You have Hart in RF, where some have pegged Gamel to be an OF anyway. Or you have Fielder at 1B, where Gamel could play (not my favorite option). But at the end of the offseason, at least one of those players will be traded for pitching. And all of them are tradeable (Fielder is close to untradeable, but not quite).
  8. I seem to have the same problems with IE8, but Firefox is working for me. I know there are some issues with IE8's java that don't seem to be backwards compatible... I use FF for facebook, because IE8 had a lot of problems with it.
  9. What ever it takes! Great out of the box thinking. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Seems like in ST, people were saying Escobar was better than Hardy defensively.... BTW, what is the record number of posts for a topic that didn't include Branyon?
  11. This got me thinking. It seems that every year the Cardinals get more than expected out of their pitching. A lot of credit goes to the pitching coach. But they also seem to have above average defense every year. I wonder which deserves more credit. The cheapest way to improve pitching is to improve defense...
  12. Personally, I think our best bet at improving the starting pitching is through trades, not FA. So offer Cam, Lopez, Hoffman arby. If they reject it, we they sign somewhere else, we get picks. If they sign with us, we gain flexibility to make trades from depth (well, mainly Weeks/Lopez and Hardy/Escobar).
  13. I don't think anyone on the team is untouchable. Gallardo (young cheap pitching) and Braun (signed long term and affordable) are the closest to that. Prince is a half step behind only because of contract. But we need to improve, so I don't think we can be closed to anything. The real debate comes when you do trade player X, was it worth the return? Not should we trade player X.
  14. Looks like he accidentally put on Kevin Mench's helmet...
  15. The way Lopez has played this year makes this a good trade. I like Gillespie, but for a guy that projects to max out as a low end LF starter and more probably a 4th OF, I'm fine with it. If we don't offer Lopez arby, the trade gets worse. The Brewers just can't continue the rental mode. But if Lopez accept arby or we get picks, I think we came out ahead.
  16. So who gets more starts at SS? Escobar or JJ? Probably Counsell...
  17. I like the idea of Jones in the BP after the AAA is done. That would give the Brewers a better idea of what he can do and give Jones some confidence that the Brewers will use him if he resigns for next year. Rogers: not ready.
  18. I can't believe how much harping there is about the P50 lately. Its a collaboration of 3-4 people's opinions of our minor league system. It doesn't mean Farris will fail because he is ranked in the 40s. Nor will the world end if Brewer is still on it Discuss in the P50 thread, disagree, state your reasons and move on. --------------------------------------------------------- Brewer? Farris Brewer?... (had to be done)
  19. Its like the US Congress: Every state gets 2 seats in the Senate, not matter how big the state = Every hit or walk adds to the OBP, not matter how big the hit. Every state gets a varying amount of seats in the House depending on how big it is = Every hit adds to the SLG depending on how big of a hit it was. OPS = best of both. Not sure that adds to the conversation, but it just popped into my head (and as my avatar shows, spills right out onto the "paper")
  20. One thing the Brewers can't do is allow talent just to walk. We gave up some decent talent to get him, so we can't just let him go. We need to offer him arby and let the chips fall where they may. If he accepts, maybe we move Weeks. Or we trade Lopez. If he rejects arby, we might still sign him or get picks as compensation. We can't just let him go for nothing. Same for Hoffman and Cameron. Looper - I'm still on the fence... Put me in the group that has Suppan as the long man out of the pen (since I suggested it last offseason). One starter via trade, one starter via sign.
  21. Without following Penny this season (velocity, control, etc...), I'm curious about him for next year. It seems that sometimes players need an injury return year to come back (strength, endurance, control, etc...). Anyone have any incites as to why he had a 5.61 ERA this year? Seems like he started strong...
  22. Personally, I would offer arby to Cameron, Lopez and Hoffman, as its positive if they stay or go. Is it legal to offer Kedall $100k to reject arby?
  23. I see that Looper is considered a Type B FA for next year (so far), but how does that work with his option? A) Accept the option and have Looper reject it? B) A + offer arby and have Looper reject it? C) Something else?
  24. I'm not advocating a trade, I just think that is what will happen. Before I heard about Salome's finger, I felt that he was as good as gone. But knowing he has been injured this season clouds that picture a bit. I think both at AAA is a mistake. Seems like most are under the impression that as long as they are hitting in every game, its fine. But I haven't heard anyone state that their catching is MLB ready yet. I think Lucroy has a better shot at making the MLB roster (as zzz stated) just because he seems (based on other people's opinions) to be ahead in the defense department. Both of them should be starting at least 2/3s of their games at catcher to keep their defensive development going, whether its at AA, AAA, or MLB.
