  1. I'd love to be out from under the JBJ contract, and spend that money nearer to trade deadline on a pickup. I'd also trade Taylor, it just has to be the right price.
  2. Well you don't have to worry about him babying his arm. He was ready to retire, might as well throw his arm off now.
  3. Optimism thread. Actually tied for 13th per that chart. I suspect his defense will improve as the season goes on also.
  4. Can we assume from this statement that the $85M represents their annual cost? If so, I guess that if the Marlins get $50M a year from their TV deal, than we are getting $35M a year from our deal. I haven't seen anything that listed the Brewers deal details. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/04/latest-on-marlins-local-television-deal.html#:~:text=In%20late%20March%2C%20the%20Marlins,just%20over%20%2450MM%20annually. In late March, the Marlins and Sinclair Broadcast Group announced a multi-year local television rights contract. The specific terms and length of the agreement weren’t disclosed at the time, but Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald now reports it’s a seven-year deal that pays just over $50MM annually.
  5. I've liked him for a long time. Hoping to steal him from Twins at some point, but it never happened. That said, I wonder how much the DBacks will want.
  6. Or he has a mid-May opt out, so a decision wasn't that far away. Better to find out if he has anything before they have to let him go? (if he wants).... I assume it was kind of an expensive decision, rigth? He only gets the $800K base ($800K incentives) if he is on the MLB roster, right? In that case, maybe this shows that he has done so well, they were willing to guarantee that money (I assume it is guaranteed once he is on MLB roster, right?)
  7. No way I trade Hiura now. I would send him to the ATS now, (AAA when start up) to get a reprieve. If he doesn't come up at all this year, that is fine. Let him get his stroke back.
  8. This is where it is already sideways?.... If he was on the team, I don't trust him to not implode at any point in time. viewtopic.php?p=1344846#p1344846
  9. Only if he would agree to go to the minors and prove he still has something over multiple outings. Not just go to the minors and you will get the first call up.
  10. I would wait for the extension until after 2022, and then I would be targeting to get one FA year from them, so we are good through 2025. But if the cost isn't worth the risk, am willing to go through until 2024 and then trade them.
  11. I think keep your congratuations to a minimum. You weren't going to be wrong until Contreras admits to it in postgame media.
  12. I get the jist of what Woodruff was saying when he was up there. But what if anything has anyone seen that Rizzo was saying that Woodruff barked at him?
  13. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/umpire-joe-west-is-awarded-dollar500000-in-defamation-lawsuit-against-former-player-paul-lo-duca/ar-BB1fAbJb?ocid=msedgntp
  14. "Sick of the pitch count BS. 86 pitches and hasn't given up a hit since the 1st inning. They finally have a couple really good starters for what, another 3-4 years if they don't trade them off? Let him throw when he's unhittable." The above is what someone said in the in-game thread yesterday. I would actually say that having two studs through the 2024 season, that is a reason to handle them a little gently in the first 2-3 starts. We want to see a lot of them over the next four years. If it is a 32 year old veteran on a one year contract, then go ahead and push that pitch count if he is doing well in a game and the bullpen is still undecided on who can do what.
  15. Young or old I don't think you are going to get anything more intriguing than the guys we got. It is Orlando Arcia...you aren't going to get someone in the lower minors that has lots of potential. Guys like Arcia are endless and not exactly something super rare to go and try to acquire. I understand that but they have gotten guys like Freddy Peralta for Yovani Gallardo, it does happen. Peralta was Adam Lind trade. Knebel was in Gallardo trade.
  16. Yeah, this one was too unrealistic. I didn't remember it was april fools day, but the lead made me remember it right away
  17. Surprised at how fast Jonathan Lucroy is out of baseball. That sure seemed like a swift decline. I suppose he could maybe catch on with someone for this season, just doesn't seem likely.
  18. Retaining the option to edit until opening pitch. StL 86 Mil 85 Chic 81 Cinn 78 Pitt 69
  19. Dugout with Cain and Suter. Seems like playoffs to me.
  20. I can see Zimmerman sticking with the Brewers while he can sit in Arizona. But when Arizona shuts down, I can't see him going to AAA. I wonder if Appleton would hold any appeal, being an hour and a half from home - probably too drastic a change.
  21. Agreed......Of all the worries that I have one of them is not questioning Attansio’s expertise in managing money. I have extreme confidence that he understands exactly what he is doing in this area. Interest rates are low, so the adjustment for time value of money probably isn't too much, but I wonder how much inflation for player wages and media revenue leak into the equation. But, deferring money is a way for an agent to say he got his player $X amount of money, but realistically time value of money he got him somewhat less than $X amount of money. Plus it probably doesn't hurt to keep some money from some players (not saying anything about JBJ specifically, just some athletes have a hole in their pocket).
  22. For all of those crying about payroll, lucky I'm not the owner. I probably wouldn't have spent as much as we have already for this season because of last year's losses. But, I wonder if a little more money freed up when we (MA) saw that the other teams in the division were not going to make many additions, and that we could be one of the favorites to get to the playoffs.
  23. Man how stupid is this... MLB knows that not a lot of viewers have cable anymore... They need to do something about this but they probably cant or dont care because of MLB.tv. Can a team stream its content and keep its revenue? How was the deal written up where the teams share equally the internet revenue? Or was that strictly mlb.tv? I thought that would be the one thing that saves the Brewers long term, if the revenue eventually shifted to equally shared by everyone.
  24. I'm sure the ball just got in his eyes.
