  1. Thats really cool! Also, why in that photo does the lemonade look like coffee? I realize it’s grayscale, but that looks dark!
  2. There is no reason to "pull back" or "revoke" an unclaimed player as there is nothing to pull back from...If a player is waived (but neither claimed nor DFA'd), 'tis as if he was never waived at all...The MLB has mostly guaranteed contracts because...well...that's the way it's always been since Curt Flood and Marvin Miller and Arthur Goldberg opened the gates to free agency. maybe I wasn't clear. The difference between someone being claimed on waivers and someone being waived, unclaimed, and becoming an unrestricted free agent is that in the former the other team is on the hook for the salary, in the latter the Brewers would still be on the hook. So if someone is put on waivers but unclaimed, the old Aug-Sept system allowed teams to pull that player off waivers and retain him. Can a person placed on waivers still be pulled back?
  3. can a player still be waived with the intention of them being claimed, but if unclaimed then pulled back off of revocable waivers? example: Brewers put Braun on waivers. If Dodgers claim him, we let him go and they assume entire contract. However, if unclaimed, we pull him back, thus preventing us from paying lots of money to someone no longer wearing our uniform.
  4. Lots of good outings tonight. Heck, even Nelson wasn’t beat around
  5. Most of that is accounted for with a few blowouts. We had the worst run differential of playoff teams last year, and we were almost in the World Series. Last year we lost by 3-4, but won by 1-2. Same thing this year
  6. aren't we way ahead of last year at this point? I'm not freaking out at all. Things we need to get: -Gio needs to continue working his magic as rotation stabilizer -Jeffress and Hader need to stop giving up the big hits. 11 of Hader's 26 hits allowed have left the park -Offense needs to average 5 runs over 2 weeks -Chacin needs to come back solid in 2 weeks -Burnes needs to figure it out and come back strong I've always said the best baseball teams win more games they should lose, than lose games they should win. Right now we're losing more that we should win. Lots of time to get it going. a 6-7 game winning streak by any team will decide this division
  7. I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing up a guy who is absolutely raking at AAA. Yes, I know that AAA is juiced this year and that Saladino has a long, poor track record. I also know that he is a human being, and not a statistical robot, so things can change. Since Perez had a horrible June, it made sense to both reward Saladino for his good work this year while also giving another guy some time at AAA to perhaps find his stroke. Of course, that doesn't mean that anything he does will translate to any MLB success, but it is/was worth a shot. Now Arcia has to start and play every inning of every game. If he gets hurt either Shaw or Moustakas has to play SS until they can get Saladino again from AAA. The defense would be hurt immeasurably. It's a bad situation to be in because they can't PH for Arcia if needed. I don't see why Stearns didn't option Shaw. He has no place to play and has done absolutely nothing since being recalled. If Arcia got hurt, the defense would be hurt slightly for the rest of the game and we’d have Saladino or Perez called up the next day. It’s no big deal. Over 162 games, Moose would hurt us at SS. For a few innings, he likely won’t get exposed
  8. With Arcia hitting better, Saladino could also be sent out. There’s also a chance someone has a nagging injury.
  9. Burnes wasn't on the 25-man while on the IL. Lyles took Aguilar's spot on the roster. Just to be technical, but players on the IL count as on the active roster, since they accrue service time.
  10. Andrews continues to pitch well in AA, and hit too! Also, good to see Shelby Miller do what he's supposed to be doing to rookie ball kids.
  11. I've never understood where the idea that Woodruff ever struggled came from. I certainly didn't think that watching him and the box scores from 2017 and 2018 seem to validate that. One or two outings each year skewed the overall results. To me, that's just a young guy going through some bumps. Given time as he was this year, Woody was able to get it going. Remember, he didn't get off to a great start by any stretch this year. As for Burnes, the kid needs to be sent down, ASAP. I don't care what he says, they are really running the risk of damaging his long term confidence by trotting him out there every other day. Can't ruin a guy with that much upside. two things to note: Woodruff wasn't ever a top 100 prospect, but he should have been. He really caught a lot of our attentions when he was consistently dominating AA and pitching deep into games. Secondly, as was said, Woodruff never really struggled.
  12. Glad to see Burnes throw 2 innings. He could be very important in either our rotation or pen in about 2 weeks. Heck, we could use him soon as part of a bullpenning strategy with us being short on starters
  13. This one can go both ways—most value to us OR in a trade. Arcia is under control for 4 more years, Dubon 6. I haven’t seen Dubon play. I’m just wondering, who has more value in a trade AND is that the same person we should be keeping?
  14. Wasn’t Ponce about to be rule 5 draft eligible? No chance he would have been protected. We have to imagine the Brewers know their players better than other teams do.
  15. Trading Burnes now is like the Dbacks trading Scherzer for Edwin Jackson
  16. I’m curious if he throws it any harder like many coming back from TJ and the ensuing rehab
  17. Actually, Prince Fielder gave Yo a terrible feed, leading Yo into a path where his legs tangled with a runner.
  18. I’d start Peralta to see if he’s got things dialed in and able to start. I’d call up someone like Wilson or Williams (either one) to fill a bullpen spot
  19. I’d like to see the Brewers try Braun at 1st or 2nd in the order. Braun Cain Yelich Grandal Moose Hiura Cain Try that for a few games
  20. I’ve done it on and off for four or five years. I handicap myself quite a bit by limiting myself to Brewers. When they don’t play, I only take ex-Brewers. I think my best was 14 this season
  21. Clancy, Gamel will not land us a decent prospect. Plus why trade a known commodity for someone that may struggle? Sidenote, once again the Brewers cover the run line when Woodruff starts
  22. Luis Contreras with some video game pitching numbers in AZ. Sounds like someone that could use a little time in Appleton
  23. there's no way he would do that. Right now, he's 10-year worth is around $350M.
  24. The only way Yelich takes an extension is if we tear up the current 3 years remaining on the deal. Just to think about this realistically, he has $41.5 million remaining. To add 5 more years we’d have to offer him probably $165 million in new money. Let’s say $27 million per year from 2023-2027, with annual increases in 2020-2022 of $10million on top of what is already owed. That’s the only way I could see him taking that extension would be by increasing his money over the next three years
  25. Nice outing for Gio. Good to see homers by Shaw and Grisham
