  1. Nats pen is horrible. Must be their way to keep tanking with guys like Wood and Abrams.
  2. 6th in the league in Clutch stat in one of the reports I pulled (min 100 PA)
  3. I’m not quite sure what inning limits are going to do to the rotation. Mis I think 100% gets shut down before playoffs. Priester might. Henderson will. Chad Patrick maybe. Woodruff hopefully not but he could run out of gas late in the season potentially. So with all that they might really need a guy like Nasty Nester.
  4. Just noticed Janson Junk is starting today for MIA, the former Brewer is doing pretty well with his first real shot, 3.12 ERA in 43 innings.
  5. I can’t believe how much Hoskins gets trashed around here despite being kind of an average 1B with a 115 wRC+ and 1.1 WAR
  6. Just feels like a rough trade market this year. Lots of pitching, and some rentals at 1B/DH/OF. Not great for the Brewers. Suarez is really the standout, but he has his risks (may not even get traded) and has teams like the Yankees and maybe the Dodgers looking at him. The 2 biggest sellers are the White Sox and the Rockies and they just have absolutely nothing (no I don’t want to pay Ryan McMahan $30m to backup Durbin). If Hoskins was out for the year I would be in on like an O’Hearn but with Hoskins coming back we just roll with him.
  7. Yeah i don't think we need to do much of anything. Some of the best trades we've had in the past 20+ years were Yelich, Contreras, Adames and those trades, at the time, either we didn't really need that position, or the guy wasn't thought to be on the trading block. So I am hoping for a trade like that but I know the odds are very low.
  8. That’s hilarious, I was about to trash talk Vaughn in another thread, noticed he was at bat and decided to wait 1 pitch before posting
  9. I haven’t been feeling good about Chad Patrick starts lately but his last 2 were good against COL and MIA so I thought they would stick with him for longer. He might be back soon though.
  10. What does the 26 rotation look like right now, maybe this? Mis Priester Patrick Henderson Ashby/Hall/Gasser/Myers/FA/etc It looks better with Freddy in there especially if you consider at least 1 of the top 4 will likely miss time and Freddy has been pretty healthy. Could be a good year for the Brewers because the only productive player on the team at this moment that they lose is Hoskins, and I guess Quintana. And they get about $25m back when those guys leave.
  11. I am irrational about it but I want to sign Freddy. I’m wondering if they will consider maybe a 5 year $80m deal in the offseason which is an under pay but they balance it out by tearing up the last year of his team friendly deal.
  12. This thread is due to get bumped during winning and losing streaks. Let's see how Durbin and Ortiz and a few others finish the year. Key players for an Arnold grade.
  13. I'm hoping we can get a quick look at Siegler before the deadline, not sure how he fits in the lineup though. Maybe he can rotate in LF/DH/3B. I am guessing he slated as an emergency catcher or maybe once a week catcher but I don't know.
  14. It is a little bit. But it’s also the result of the big money clubs chasing tools, power, velocity and sending guys like Durbin to small/mid market clubs that don’t have the money to buy the upside. The Brewers are smart to pick up these guys to fill out a roster but they still need a few guys like Yelich and Mis to be stars. Once in awhile a “low upside” guy will break through and be a star too, I’m hoping Frelick has done it.
  15. I have enjoyed watching our playoff odds basically go straight up
  16. I don't know a lot about the Contreras finger injury but I read it could be from last season. Which would make me think that a few weeks of rest won't do much. May need surgery and a few months to squash it long term. Reducing his games at catcher on a weekly basis could help.
  17. Controversial opinion but maybe they just shouldn’t do much of anything this trade deadline? C,2B: no need at all OF: Frelick and Chourio are locked and I don’t see Collin’s losing his job right now. We could add depth but not sure it’s even needed with Perkins and Bauers. 1B,DH: Yelich and Hoskins are playing every day and Bauers and Vaughn are fine depth. I will be confused if they trade Bauers to replace him with Vaughn. SP: if anything they are trading away here but I think after Civale went they might be better off just hoarding the rest of the arms for depth. I don’t think there is a high value trade available here anyway. The question will come up if they should try trading for an ace pitcher, not sure if that is going to be worth the cost. That is a plausible impact trade but I don’t think they will/should outbid a team like the Cubs for example. RP: we really don’t need it, our top 3 relievers are very likely to be the same after the deadline. They could upgrade the back end and replace Koenig or Rob Z for example. Now it gets a little more complicated as we have been discussing 3B FAs for the past 6 months and we had the worst SS in baseball for about 2 months to start the year. If the right guy was available here, I would be all for it. But a few things have changed: -Ortiz had a 114 wRC+ in June -Durbin had a 131 wRC+ in June -Trading for a guy like Ramon or Luis Urias could definitely put up maybe a 90 wRC+ here and be a worse option than Durbin -Taking at bats away from Ortiz and Durbin will probably lower their productivity for this year So can they add a guy at SS/3B? Sure but I think he would probably take the Mona role and not play very much. I am assuming they won’t find a plus plus player here on a short contract. So overall my trade deadline ask is just a backup IF and maybe a low cost reliever if Koenig continues to struggle.
  18. I'm hoping Chad Patrick can have a get right start today. 4,4,5 runs given up last 3 games.
  19. 60% playoff odds which is crazy because I was posting about selling not that long ago it seems
  20. We can fix him
  21. So hard to gage Wilkens value right now. Could be pushing for top 100 status or 40 FV org filler. Looking closer to top 100 IMO though.
  22. It's weird how he has no MiLB stats to compare against. Just 245 PAs in single A in 2019 and nothing else significant.
  23. It seems obvious Mis is a dominant pitcher. I just hope he stays healthy.
