The market this year looks likely to be saturated with starting pitching. There are a few teams that might gobble up multiple guys (Cubs, Cardinals) but hopefully we can grab a mid rotation guy at a discount. Casey Mize Jose Soriano Sandy Alcantara Foster Griffin Michael Wacha Robbie Ray ($$$) Freddy Peralta Personally would take Peralta, Griffin, Wacha in that order. There are better names on that list but these names are my bargain picks.

Would love to add Paredes. Checked MLB prospect list and they have Quero Letson Dinges at 9-11, that’s probably the highest I would go, as Henderson and Fischer are just too steep. Paredes has a club option next year which isn’t too expensive.
-
Was reading the MLBTR top 35 trade candidates and Chapman and Nolan Gorman are the only 3Bs on the list. Chapman isn’t going to happen (expensive) and Gorman was demoted to AAA due to poor performance (not to mention plays for a division rival). Sad.
-
Yeah many fans are calling for his head. The Mendoza firing was obviously just a sacrifice to appease the fans. I think Stearns gets at least 1.5 years though. I am not sure they will tolerate another losing season.
-
I think if a team let's Freddy focus on 5 and dive they would get ace level rate stats. Always thought he would go to a team with a good bullpen that would just pull him early every game.
-
Giants almost definitely will sell. Trying to figure out how to fit Arraez into the lineup or Chapman into the budget. Arraez to 2B and Turang to SS? Bring in Chapman for the year and flip him in the offseason? Both highly unlikely. Thought about Wily for a minute (think they would eat salary) but he has a negative WAR and I don’t think he fits the team anymore (not that desperate for a defensive butcher at SS).

I didn’t mean last year, 87 IP of Mis vs 167 of Burnes. And I’m just saying that it’s not like we haven’t been here before, we were here 5 years ago (lucky to see great pitchers in this era of Brewers baseball).
-
Burnes in 2021 actually carried a lower FIP than Mis has now through 167 innings. Not trying to rain in the Mis parade but that was a great season.

Brewers (Sproat) vs Athletics (Perkins): 6/10/26, 8:05pm

Will this be the highest scoring game ever? I'm expecting double digit run totals from both sides. -
Brewers (Drohan) vs Rockies (Freeland): 6/7/26, 2:10pm

Is it true that I'm not seeing any Brewers errors scored? Not watching that close but i thought I saw turang drop a pop up and maybe a mis played outfield ball in the first. -
Cubs at 48% chance to make the playoffs on fangraphs. Thought it was noteworthy they fell under 50% after their strong start to the season.
-
I think we are on track to need an inning eater or 2. Hard to say though because it depends on the health reports for Woodruff and Priester and innings limits for guys like Crow and Henderson.
-
Lately every night I check the scores and Brewers winning Cubs losing Mets losing and I go to sleep feeling good

Can’t wait til we get into June and some AAA hitter call ups become more viable. Lara, Pratt, Jett are all looking like interesting options right now. Would like to see Frelick in a platoon and defensive sub role until he works through his issues at the plate. The other ABs go to one of those prospects.
-
Priester was a guy we really needed in October. Yeah our starting rotation looks great now but it’s full of guys who can’t exactly pitch 200 innings and then every 4-5 days in the playoffs. Priester was supposed to be one of those guys.
-
The new trend seems to be that at the beginning of the season you write out your SP depth chart about 10 deep and you assume all of those guys are going to pitch significant innings for you that year. That’s what the Brewers and Dodgers seem to do and probably some other teams too. Guess the Red Sox may be behind on that one.

I thought things were looking kind of ok with Hamilton as the primary SS and Ortiz the backup. Definitely not a situation that demands rushing up an under performing prospect anyway. 3b is another story. I am a believer that Rengifo will turn it around soon, but if not then calling up a prospect to push Hamilton to 3B is a pretty marginal change offensively. Plus we probably have to trade/DFA Ortiz at that point to avoid carrying 3 SS with no offensive upside.
-
Looks like their pitching is likely going to hold them back at least this year but they will probably add there soon. That offense looks like it's coming up though I'm not sure if I believe in Jordan Walker over a larger sample size. However he has a lot of room to regress yet still be good.
-
It's still early and it's easy right now to just drop him down the depth chart and see how things go. Woodford and Drohan are still on the roster and as long as they are here then Zerpa's roster spot is likely safe.
-
Most years it feels like there are only 2 or 3 players carrying the entire offense at a time. The names change but usually 2 or 3 at a time.
-
I’m not expecting Stearns to get fired any time soon, but their slow start is significant. They are more likely to miss the playoffs than make at this point, which is pretty embarrassing for their payroll 2 years in a row. I read this article which has some more info on why their playoff chances are poor and the lack of production from offseason acquisitions. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/no-offense-the-new-look-mets-are-in-quite-a-skid/
-
Kinda looks like Stearns is about to get run out of New York. I was questioning their offseason but I thought there was some plan and it would come together with some sneaky underrated acquisitions. Not looking good for them.
-
I think the FO wrote him out of their long term plans last offseason but didn’t show much urgency about it. Will be interesting to see what they do if this trajectory continues through the trade deadline (Joey and all the SS prospects showing poorly). They are probably calling around for an Adames style April/May trade right now honestly.
-
I thought he was on track to get stuck in AAA but I guess not now. They may look to trade Ortiz next year. Glad the org likes Pratt.

Brewers Acquire Outfielder Luis Matos From Giants
umphrey replied to dlk9s's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
He is a really nice reclamation project. It's going to be challenging to keep him on the MLB roster though especially if his defense is bad.
