  1. Well, I think Myers will probably be back in a few weeks, but there is also a chance he’s fallen out of our top 5 when Woodruff and Civale are back. He wasn’t pitching well and a few tune up starts in AAA wouldn’t be the worst idea.
  2. It's nice when MGMT is clearly tired of the same 2 guys I am tired of (Capra and Elvin)
  3. I think he gets demoted to the 7th inning, finishes with a 3.xx era and signs with a team like the Rockies for 3 years $40m or so
  4. Can we DFA Capra already? There has to be some AAAA player we can pull from another org that will at least hit .200. Or just rush up Boeve or anything.
  5. Glad we were able to scratch out some runs against the White Sox ace early
  6. I am going to be absolutely insufferable about Shane Smith in this thread
  7. Made and Pena are both 3 years away, and they might not stick at SS. I don't know much about Areinamo but I suspect a FV 40 prospect in A ball doesn't move the needle much. I agree with you that in 2 or 3 years they might have some SS talent close to MLB but right now it's only Pratt and no one else is close at all. Hopefully Ortiz can turn in a solid season though because that would be the best scenario, and Durbin can take an IF spot as well.
  8. I've gone back and forth on Pratt myself. Right now he feels untradeable because he's kind of the only SS in the system and I'm wondering if we are going to be trying to bench Ortiz by the deadline due to lack of offense. Not that Pratt will be ready by then but if things go that way, best to have someone potentially on the way.
  9. Are the cubs good again? They have a lot of regression candidates on that roster but I am sure Tucker will mash all year, PCA is a top prospect playing well and they are winning games.
  10. I have been hoping our pitching gets healthy enough where we can trade some guys like maybe Ashby or Hall or Civale. I'm not sure how much value we could get there but it could help if it's a sellers market (which is usually the case for mid-season pitching). I also wouldn't mind trading Misiorowski if the return is good because he hasn't shown progress on the control issues.
  11. He will stick around for years and years as a reminder that a pretty good FO will make a boneheaded play sometimes
  12. The market corrected. Teams don't give up future all stars for 1 year of control anymore. Teams like the Brewers have to try to get a return that can fill 2-3 holes with decent players on a cheap salary, and find their all stars other ways.
  13. What does Tyler Black have to do with Dunn and Capra?
  14. They earned the right to be there but Dunn and Capra only have a few months until they get DFAd, unless they figure it out. Small samples matter for fringe players.
  15. Oliver Dunn 0/10 no walks Capra 3/20 no walks Moncada sporting a 111wRC+ with LAA not feeling great about any of that
  16. I love Woody but I can't believe we gave him $17.5m if we knew this was his injury return timeline. 100 innings of 4.00 era is probably about the best case projection right now. 3.xx era may be possible but I don't see it year 1 after injury and rust.
  17. What did he make, $11m last year? He probably wasn’t returning calls offering the veteran minimum or looking to work his way back to the majors through a minors deal. If he was open to those things he wouldn’t be retired.
  18. I’ve gone through that list in my head a few times and I really can’t figure it out. I think it has to be the lefty explanation. His numbers were awesome last year and when you’re talking about the 26th man on the roster, you don’t need to nitpick medicals or anything like that. Sometimes we add a 26th man for about 2 weeks and then DFA him for a shiny new toy. That and probably some pitching metric thing which may or may not turn out to be a complete fail in this case. That or maybe someone like Murphy or a pitching coach just disagreed with the FO and said they needed a vet for that spot and they gave in.
  19. There was the article from a few weeks ago that said we had about the 16th best rotation in MLB and I still believe that. If it was re ranked based on only who is healthy though we are bottom 3 easily.
  20. Yeah the counter to this is definitely to just pitch outside. If the batter isn't a big power guy I don't think you will ever give up a HR if you stay outer 3rd of the zone against a torpedo bat.
  21. Are we firing the home plate umps and replacing them with robots yet or do I still have to wait a few years
