  1. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/where-can-the-mariners-turn-for-third-base-help.html I feel like this applies to us as much as it does to Seattle. Castro is a guy that wasn’t really on my radar. Also, Lux trade rumors are ramping up probably since LAD signed that infielder
  2. I agree they made up for it with defense but I also think they acknowledged that it’s a flaw and that is why the rotation looks so much different this year
  3. I don’t think you can count on any of those guys for more than 100 innings in 2026, except Myers, but I was already counting him as one of 2 returning pitchers. It’s looking like the SP for 2026 will be more like 2024 where we were 25th in SP WAR. 2025 we have 5 guys who hypothetically could take the ball every 5th game all year.
  4. They lose 3/5 starting pitchers next year and Freddy the year after that, which is pretty concerning. I see this as more of a go for it year than anything for that reason, but I don’t think they will accept a full rebuild either. Still, if the team is doing poorly they might try to fire sale a few guys for any hope at acquiring starting pitching with more years of control. I am hoping it goes the other way though, that the team does well and they can add 1 or 2 impact players for this year.
  5. Last post I read made it sound like LAD and SD were the favorites. I always felt like he was just jerking people around to sign with LAD but SD wouldn’t be a shocker to me either.
  6. I feel like that guy could pitch into his mid 40s as long as you aren’t asking for 150+ innings. Would love to keep him in our system on a low value deal.
  7. Most of these guys going to be looking at 1 year $5M give or take I think. DeJong maybe most likely to get a 2 year offer, Moncada and Drury could have some funky option/buyout options. Polanco and DeJong as going to just try to get as much cash as they can, while Moncada and Drury will likely have a lot of similar offers from cheap or rebuilding teams, but look for their best chance to increase their value for 1 year and their next contract. Also possible for someone like Drury to get MiLb deal with invite to ST but I think there is enough utility IF talent here that they all get MLB deals.
  8. So if it's a MiLB deal or league min salary I'd take almost any of these guys, but DeJong, I really just don't want him. He did alright last year but previous 3 year batting stats are just awful. And we don't need more defense. I'd be nervous about Drury too because of last years disaster but there could be a reclamation story there and I'd prefer that to DeJong.
  9. I feel like Fangraphs is over estimating Dunn and Monasterio there by quite a bit and they are more likely to be in the 70s for wRC+ as I believe they were both in the 60s last year. Algorithm is broken for AAAA players who recently did well in the minors at an older age.
  10. Nate Lowe would have been my guy if we salary dumped Hoskins. I hope we can find a guy like him next year.
  11. I would have liked Luzardo. I guess we weren’t a good match after the Nester trade though.
  12. Scenario 1: they trade Hoskins for a pure salary dump with no other pieces moving back and forth. He is replaced with a Josh Bell type player. The money savings is used elsewhere. This is only possible if other teams think Hoskins is significantly better than a Josh Bell type, so assuming they aren’t stupid, this is a downgrade at 1B for us. Or it’s just not possible. scenario 2: we trade Hoskins and package him with prospects to help salary dump him. This is essentially just selling prospects for cash, and putting us at risk for another FA bust at 1B. scenario 3: we trade him for some other bad contract. I don’t know of too many candidates right now, but I’m sure they are out there. If we are taking a bad contract though, what better candidate can there be compared to Hoskins himself? We need a 1B, we need power, he’s on a 1 year deal. this is why I just want to keep him. The only other thing I might be interested in is if they could pull off a trade for a legit high quality 1B, then they would have to do 2 or 3, but it would blow out our MiLB system pretty bad to both bring in a good player AND salary dump Hoskins.
  13. Only issue, I think Bauers is considered a good defensive 1B while Black is below average there at best?
  14. I would love to get him on a minors deal or even consider him for a MLB deal as the 26th man. Currently the depth chart I checked has Oliver Dunn in that role so Brujan would replace him.
  15. I hate to say it but I’ve long suspected Tyler Black is another Hiura or Wiemer (without the CF defense). I hope he gets a shot so we can find out.
  16. As a fan with no financial interest, I’ll be a little mad if they salary dump Hoskins. They definitely won’t go out and replace him with Pete Alonso or anything. Best case would be a Josh Bell type player, worst case they include prospects instead of money, bring back a replacement grade 1B and make some statement like “this frees up money for in season trades”.
  17. I don’t think they are in the market for a 1b/DH at all personally. Hoskins is going to play pretty much every day and I don’t think they will sign another every day guy who will play 1b/DH only to completely lock down the DH so they can’t play anyone else there like Yelich or Contreras or whatever OF is playing well. They might get a guy like Moncada to play 3B/DH though or find some league minimum player who is like 28 years old and former top 100 prospect, like they have been doing lately.
  18. Cortes isn’t a dime a dozen. He is probably on track to get the Frankie Montas contract or something like that.
  19. I do wonder if we are kind of done. The other move that fits is a veteran infielder though because I agree Durbin probably isn’t an every day starter. Moncada still fits I think.
  20. He’s considered kind of a breakout player. His pedigree isn’t there and he didn’t do much prior to 2023 and then improved further in 2024. Sounds like he was going to climb lists post 2024 performance, but still wouldn’t be pushing top 100 lists for most people. Main concerns are his size and I read something about underlying metrics like exit velocity potentially being a red flag for his 2024 year, but I don’t know too much details.
  21. People online hate on Cortes a lot. I wonder why. I don’t know much beyond his stat sheet, where he looks like a very nice mid rotation piece. Based on that, this seems like a pretty reasonable trade. I am glad they added players that will help the 2025 team.
  22. I think if you take out Boeve or Quero I do it, but all 4 is just a lot, especially with the top 2 looking like MLB replacement level is their floor
  23. The Brewers have made plenty of pitcher mistakes in the past. It still kills me that Reese Olson is in Detroit.
  24. Here's the lasted Bohm rumor https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/news/chicago-white-sox-philladelphia-phillies-discussing-potential-garrett-crochet-alec-bohm-justin-crawford-trade-01jdhvdyfsd6 Bohm and #3 prospect Crawford for Crochet Assuming it's legit my biggest take away is that Devin Williams is the right kind of guy to offer but his value is much less than Crochet. Crawford is a nice asset but overall a small piece of that deal I think. So Devin for Bohm might be tough because I don't know who we could add to even it out, as they are probably more interested in high end MLB talent and not prospects. It's also very likely though that the Phillies are over valuing Bohm here, the White Sox aren't seriously considering it and the Phillies are going to have to re calibrate their value on Bohm.
  25. Predictions are 2 to 3 years at about $15m AAV. He's been good ever other year and he's due for a down year 😂
