  1. This only annoys me because we still haven’t made this kind of signing for SS/3B
  2. Now that one... can't believe we will roll with Oliver Dunn instead of Dejong for $1M.
  3. They didn’t do nothing, they clearly just maxed their payroll with Hoskins and Woodruff and decided against another major trade besides Devin. I’m sure they would have loved to pay up for another infielder.
  4. Moncada was kinda the last interesting guy out there I was keeping an eye on. His signing elsewhere is the end of the offseason for me.
  5. I want them to kill the super teams that gobble up every single player. And this year the LAD payroll is going to be well over 6x that of the bottom spender ($300m+ vs $42m), it’s unacceptable and boring to see minor league teams playing MLB games.
  6. If they kill competitive balance then they also kill the regular season and people only pay attention for the playoffs. I think that’s inevitable at this point though and may have already happened.
  7. Well this is a different problem which is that the Asian international players are taking massive pay cuts to create a super team in LAD
  8. Casas is a pretty valuable trade chip. I can’t think of too many players we have that would interest Boston for him. They are a large market team that will either want to improve the 2025 roster or add absolutely premium prospects. Garrett Mitchell, Jesus Made, Jacob Misiorowski these are some names that come to mind. Freddy Peralta is a good guess too but I don’t see how it works for them because they don’t need a SP that much. Contreras, Ortiz, Turang would interest them but there is no trade there that works for us.
  9. I just want to make headlines for being “out of the running”
  10. Well I think the Burnes thing was an aberration anyway. You don’t hear a similar story too often with other teams and players. He talked earlier in his career about how the mental game was so important to him. I don’t think the brewers can afford to let that preclude them from ever going to Arby again.
  11. We could possibly fill 3B internally. Our prospects there may be actually 2 years away though unfortunately, but if Durbin does well then we might be ok. 1B/DH may be a bigger need and that list looks pretty bad.
  12. I agree with you, I think their logic is that a bigger raise now means an even bigger raise next year and the year after. Hopefully they can just go to arbitration and not talk about how much he sucks the whole time, that should be an option one would think.
  13. At a glance it looks one sided, but if he’s reasonably healthy then Rasmussen will probably even the WAR in his final 2 years of control. Still, likely to end as a win-win trade.
  14. If he's not ready for opening day then I won't expect more than 100 innings or so from him, because he's unlikely to ramp up very quickly and he is high risk to spend some time on the IL basically due to load management.
  15. The bigger issue to me is they would basically be counting on 500 ABs from Durbin, they can't really deal with an injury and that roster has an awful DH setup. So a 3B with a bat makes it all work because Durbin isn't needed full time and the new 3B can help fill some DH potentially.
  16. Probably a 2 win player next year. I would have been happy to have him but I’m not upset to miss out on him at all.
  17. It's totally possible that they have Ortiz locked in there and we just don't know it. They might be looking for no one or they might be looking for a SS/2B utility backup.
  18. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/where-can-the-mariners-turn-for-third-base-help.html I feel like this applies to us as much as it does to Seattle. Castro is a guy that wasn’t really on my radar. Also, Lux trade rumors are ramping up probably since LAD signed that infielder
  19. I agree they made up for it with defense but I also think they acknowledged that it’s a flaw and that is why the rotation looks so much different this year
  20. I don’t think you can count on any of those guys for more than 100 innings in 2026, except Myers, but I was already counting him as one of 2 returning pitchers. It’s looking like the SP for 2026 will be more like 2024 where we were 25th in SP WAR. 2025 we have 5 guys who hypothetically could take the ball every 5th game all year.
  21. They lose 3/5 starting pitchers next year and Freddy the year after that, which is pretty concerning. I see this as more of a go for it year than anything for that reason, but I don’t think they will accept a full rebuild either. Still, if the team is doing poorly they might try to fire sale a few guys for any hope at acquiring starting pitching with more years of control. I am hoping it goes the other way though, that the team does well and they can add 1 or 2 impact players for this year.
  22. Last post I read made it sound like LAD and SD were the favorites. I always felt like he was just jerking people around to sign with LAD but SD wouldn’t be a shocker to me either.
  23. I feel like that guy could pitch into his mid 40s as long as you aren’t asking for 150+ innings. Would love to keep him in our system on a low value deal.
  24. Most of these guys going to be looking at 1 year $5M give or take I think. DeJong maybe most likely to get a 2 year offer, Moncada and Drury could have some funky option/buyout options. Polanco and DeJong as going to just try to get as much cash as they can, while Moncada and Drury will likely have a lot of similar offers from cheap or rebuilding teams, but look for their best chance to increase their value for 1 year and their next contract. Also possible for someone like Drury to get MiLb deal with invite to ST but I think there is enough utility IF talent here that they all get MLB deals.
