  1. Capra had over 400 very mediocre PAs in AAA last year, not sure he could do anything in ST to win the job outright. Maybe can fight his way to the OD roster or they find a way to stash him in AAA again.
  2. I have no idea what their 3b strategy is this year. I thought they were just out of money but then they signed Quintana. I guess they must really believe in Dunn or Durbin. Pretty sure Mona is just a backup plan. It's also possible they were out of money and dipped into the mid-season injury/trade fund to sign Quintana after several pitcher injuries.
  3. I’m sticking with my long shot prediction, that within a few weeks I’ll be reading “Brewers Tyler Black will be getting spring reps at 3b, in contention for starting role”
  4. I don’t think the Brewers do it unless they kick in a ton of cash, like $20m. I think they would up the prospect return to save the cash.
  5. I’m honestly only taking McMahon if they pay a bunch of his salary and give him away for free. I don’t see any way he gets 3 years $44 on the open market as a FA right now.
  6. I think the big shocker is going to be that Tyler Black is our starting 3B
  7. I specifically picked guys with similar AAV, they are all the same or lower
  8. I love Woodruff but it does feel like the roster would be better with Pivetta or Flaherty or even a Gleybor Torres. I hope I’m wrong because peak Woodruff would be the best out of that group.
  9. This only annoys me because we still haven’t made this kind of signing for SS/3B
  10. Now that one... can't believe we will roll with Oliver Dunn instead of Dejong for $1M.
  11. They didn’t do nothing, they clearly just maxed their payroll with Hoskins and Woodruff and decided against another major trade besides Devin. I’m sure they would have loved to pay up for another infielder.
  12. Moncada was kinda the last interesting guy out there I was keeping an eye on. His signing elsewhere is the end of the offseason for me.
  13. I want them to kill the super teams that gobble up every single player. And this year the LAD payroll is going to be well over 6x that of the bottom spender ($300m+ vs $42m), it’s unacceptable and boring to see minor league teams playing MLB games.
  14. If they kill competitive balance then they also kill the regular season and people only pay attention for the playoffs. I think that’s inevitable at this point though and may have already happened.
  15. Well this is a different problem which is that the Asian international players are taking massive pay cuts to create a super team in LAD
  16. Casas is a pretty valuable trade chip. I can’t think of too many players we have that would interest Boston for him. They are a large market team that will either want to improve the 2025 roster or add absolutely premium prospects. Garrett Mitchell, Jesus Made, Jacob Misiorowski these are some names that come to mind. Freddy Peralta is a good guess too but I don’t see how it works for them because they don’t need a SP that much. Contreras, Ortiz, Turang would interest them but there is no trade there that works for us.
  17. I just want to make headlines for being “out of the running”
  18. Well I think the Burnes thing was an aberration anyway. You don’t hear a similar story too often with other teams and players. He talked earlier in his career about how the mental game was so important to him. I don’t think the brewers can afford to let that preclude them from ever going to Arby again.
  19. We could possibly fill 3B internally. Our prospects there may be actually 2 years away though unfortunately, but if Durbin does well then we might be ok. 1B/DH may be a bigger need and that list looks pretty bad.
  20. I agree with you, I think their logic is that a bigger raise now means an even bigger raise next year and the year after. Hopefully they can just go to arbitration and not talk about how much he sucks the whole time, that should be an option one would think.
  21. At a glance it looks one sided, but if he’s reasonably healthy then Rasmussen will probably even the WAR in his final 2 years of control. Still, likely to end as a win-win trade.
  22. If he's not ready for opening day then I won't expect more than 100 innings or so from him, because he's unlikely to ramp up very quickly and he is high risk to spend some time on the IL basically due to load management.
  23. The bigger issue to me is they would basically be counting on 500 ABs from Durbin, they can't really deal with an injury and that roster has an awful DH setup. So a 3B with a bat makes it all work because Durbin isn't needed full time and the new 3B can help fill some DH potentially.
  24. Probably a 2 win player next year. I would have been happy to have him but I’m not upset to miss out on him at all.
